  1. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 1, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) Higginson's avg is now at 0.087 Ya, well good thing the Tigers didn't give him a big contract or anything like that.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ May 1, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Here is the other thing, Podsednik is not hitting great but did you ever notice, every time there's somebody on base he always gets them over? Walk, ground ball to the right place, etc. He seems to always get the job done in that respect. Scott's done everything right. He's in a bit of a hitting slump but he's still getting on base and he just made that whole inning in the 4th by himself. Like you said he's getting guys over when he has to and he's also come up with big hits for us this year. He's an impressive player.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Cotts should get an inning today. Not if Garland continues to deal.
  4. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 1, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) We should rest some players now and play our scrubs rest of the way.... We have no one to put in.
  5. Leadoff walk to Aaron.
  6. Wow, I can't believe someone made a thread about this. Anyways, Hawk also says there are exceptions to every rule.
  7. Pena hits one on the nose right to Scott. Quick inning for Jon
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ May 1, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) I agree with you, he is trying to improve and personally I think he's doing better. With announcers though, it's a matter of opinion. Some will like him and others won't. Sometimes you get a first impression of a player or announcer and no matter what they do, it's hard to come off that initial impression. I guess that's human nature. Jim, no doubt. For me also this year it seems that Hawk and Dj are having more conversation up in the booth, in years past there hasn't really been to much conversing going on between the two, this year it's much better imo.
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ May 1, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) DJ had more play by play today, in the last two innings. I actually thought he did a much better job this time. But I am a nice guy and pretty understanding. (quickman at the game today, I can get away with this). I've thought he's been getting better each and each time but I think there is such a hatred for dj around here that some people just won't admit it.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 1, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Ozzie just said on the manager's show with John Rooney that Willie Harris is out today due to a personal problem and may miss a few days. Wow, hopefully everything is ok with him. Anyways, I think Kenny really is going to have to sign Ozzie to play ss for a day.

    QUOTE(T R U @ May 1, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) too bad they went too Wow.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 1, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) What do you expect, Dye is sick, a lefty is pitching (absence of AJ) and Lopez can play SS better than Willie. Quite frankly, this is just about what I expected. Aboz, I wasn't complaining cause like you said there's really not many options and this is about what I expected also, I'm just saying that todays lineup doesn't look good on paper, which in a lot of instances means absolutely nothing.

    QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) That is one innocent after party, did you have cake and punch too? They played pin the tail on the donkey.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 1, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) Anyone else notice him taking a first pitch fast ball right down the middle of the plate nearly every time up now? Then he swings at the s***ty pitches and either k's or pops it up. When you are going bad you are going bad. He really needs to get his s*** together along with dye. I still think it would be a bad idea to bring him back next year for any significant amount of money but we will see. Yup, that's also what Crede did all year last year. He was going so bad he'd swing at first pitches in the dirt and then he'd take the first pitch if it was right down the middle of the plate. As far as the contract situation goes I think the best way to handle it still is to wait and see. See how Pauly battles through this year and see how much money he demands. I really like Durazo and Millar wouldn't be a bad plan either, Snow wouldn't be bad but he doesn't thrill me. Should be an interesting scenario to follow. EDIT: qwerty, do you know how much Dmitry's option is for?

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) So in reality, Willie and Scotty have been awesome in doing their jobs of getting on base. Tadahito has taken over the 2004 job of Willie for getting 3 hits in one game, and then going 0 fer the next two games. Also it is impressive to see Crede so high on that list, for a guy who never walks. I'd say that's kind of expected for Iguchi just cause of the learning experience, I think as the year goes on he'll have less and less of those. Willie and Scott have both been very good so far, Willie's filled in very nicely when he's had to and Scott keeps getting on base even if he's not hitting he's been taking a lot of walks. Kudos to both of them so far.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) That's a dumb stat. Sorry, but it is. Cool.
  19. The sox are 3 and 0 this year when Timo's had 4 at bats in a game, just thought I'd add that. I'm going to watch the game, b**** at me all you want about Timo.

    QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Please tell me there is someone better to put in the field. Dye is a good player he is just slumping right now, we should let him fight through it, an send timo to single A Kannnapolis. This thread can go to hell.
  21. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) NUKE, I was agreeing with you. I was sick of hearing the "experts" and some posters here whine about our team OBP and our ability to draw walks while we were on an 8 game win streak. "Don't tell me what you hit, tell when you hit." Santo, I am completely with you on this one. This team has gone passive the past few games and in part are drawing more walks but not driving in the big run. I don't give a s*** how much they're on base as long as they're scoring some runs.
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Swinging the bat well? He had 1 hit and it should have been caught. How many rallies does Dead have to kill before people stop defending him? Lets see he hit that double pretty hard whether it should have been caught or not, he just missed hitting a ball out to left field, and that comebacker he hit to farnsworth was hit real hard.
  23. Willie's still in the lineup, Jermaine swings the bat pretty well last night and gets put on the bench tonight: lf pods 2b iguchi dh everett 1b konerko rf perez cf rowand c pierzynski 3b crede ss harris

    QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) And, like Gene said, it wasn't really out in the open that Ross had an injury. If I would have known, I wouldn't have b****ed about it. Sorry to Ozzie. Timo still sucks, either way. And Jim, the way our offense is going right now, we can't afford to have an easy out anywhere in the lineup. Was Lopez even hitting at Charlotte? I don't care if he's a better shortstop than Harris defensively, we need offense. Lopez was hitting under .200 at Charlotte.
