  1. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Let's get that CG Jon! 3-0! Leave him in Ozzie. I'd like to see Jon finish this one off, if not though this might be a good place to get shingo in.
  2. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) BARONS 5 Jacksonville 4 W-Tracey (2-0) L- Thompson (0-1) Sv- Jenks (6) Tracey 6 IP 5H 1R 1BB 7K's Thompson 5IP 5H 5R 3BB 5K's Good- Some Great small ball today with Josh Fields getting a stolen base along with Reyes. Clutch hitting from Darren Blakely and Andy Gonzalez who is playing real well. Josh Feilds pickes up extra base hit #2 with a ringing double of the left feild wall. Sean was lights out with a slider and great change and 94-98 MPH fastball had great command today. Barons now on 7 game win streak and are 9-3 overall. Bobby Jenks closed out the 9th with a good inning of work to record save #6. Bad- Owens, Young and Gray continue to struggle I think Gray will lose his starting job to cory haggerty who is really play well having good at-bats. Notes- Game was almost decided by a blown call by 1st base umpire Rio Cortesio who for some reason ruled a ball of the top of the wall a Home-Run but lucky that Bobby Jenks came in and shut it down Hey, bham how has Jenks looked?? Just by his stats it seems like he's been pretty good after his first outing.
  3. Aaron's looked awful at the plate tonight but everyone else has looked pretty good. Hopefully it's just one of those days for Aaron.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Ok I'm going to hold you to that. Garland will have improved and being the #5 starter will have taken the pressure off, but he'll inevitably still have some outings this season where he looks like the Jon Garland of old. I think Garcia and El Duque (if he can stay healthy) will still have better numbers than Jon. I agree with everything you said.
  5. Bad defensive inning for the sox but Jon pitches over it.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Ledezma/Garland is going to be a good one tonight. Ledezma always seems to pitch well against us, and Garland is pitching some of the best ball of his career right now. This has the potential to be a two hour 1-0/2-1 type game. I completely agree. I expect this to be a very low scoring game.

    Carlos is going to be fine. I'll tell you what though I love what Pods brings to the table. Something that doesn't get mentioned much about scott is how he has long at bats. It's important for a leadoff hitter to work the pitcher and see a lot of pitches especially when the guy hitting behind you is in his first year in the majors.
  8. This will probably be a pretty low scoring game. Ledezma is a quality pitcher and usually gives the sox fits.
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) Mauer is f***in huge...Joe Crede will not be running him over Torii Hunter over Jamie Burke style any time soon. He was gonna give it a shot though.
  10. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Has he had an outing this season where he has faced more than one batter and did not give up a run? If you're a "closer" who can give up a run in one inning of work and LOWER your ERA then you're pretty sorry. Opening day. Remember he had some issues at the beginning of last year also, shingo's going to be fine.
  11. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Sometimes the gut & the intangibles mean more than the numbers. My god I think I just had a heart attack.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) I meant for hunter. There is no reason for him to come in on that immediately. It was not a frozen rope, it was a hard smash line drive that was not coming down any time soon. It would have been a bad play for whoever f***ed it up. I agree and yes I was shocked that he made that mistake but a lot of outfielders make those kind of mistakes and they seem to happen a lot at the cell also.
  13. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Well then for once we are getting the breaks instead of the Twinkies getting them all. That's the way it has always been in the past. That one play was a break but besides that the sox smoked a lot of balls today that were right at someone or that the twins just made good plays on. Also qwerty I wouldn't say that play is made 99.6 percent of the time, maybe by hunter it is but not by everyone, that was a low line shot that sometimes fielder have trouble getting a good read on.
  14. QUOTE(bulokis @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) Does RCN cable carry cltv? I have no clue bul, sorry.
  15. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) I was talking at 2nd rather than Iguchi, not right. Iguchi's swinging the bat real well the past few days, I'd prefer not to take him out when he's hitting this well.
  16. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) And wasn't Radke the guy who Harris went 2-for-5 off of? Was it Radke? Damnit damnit. No, Timo hit his upper tank shot against Radke last time, that's probably one of the reasons he's in there tonight.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) No. I knew you'd like that.
  18. Timo back in the lineup: lf podsednik 2b iguchi dh everett 1b konerko rf perez cf rowand c pierzynski 3b crede ss uribe
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) CSN +? what channel is that, all i have is standard cable. It's cltv.
  20. After the balk last night this one idiot sitting behind me kept saying "don't you know we beat up umpires here," I swear I wanted to turn around and punch the guy, what an idiot.
  21. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) and they did the same thing to him last season. Lefties hit .215 off shingo last year.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I was thinking in the chat that he had two off of him from tonight. I guess i was just thinking of the two home runs he hit in that game. Anyway, he is gonna be a stud no matter what position he plays. As long as he stays healthy he's going to be a great player. To steal a line from Hawk "he's dangerous," that guy scares the hell out of me everytime he's up.
  23. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) In a 1 run game? The difference is another blown save. Luckily we had a 2 run cushion. My thing is, Shinjo vs. Mauer is a piss-poor matchup for Takatsu. I am a big proponent of letting your closer start the 9th inning and not come into trouble, but thats a matchup that shouldnt have happened. It wasn't a one run game, it was a 2 run game, meaning in that situation a single and a homer do the same thing.
  24. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) He didn't do fine today, but he wasnt awful either. Mauer owns Shinjo apparently. Now with that being said, I'm not ready to crown Hermy the new closer or anything, I still think its Shinjos job. But next time I see him give up 2+ HRs in a save situation, I'm gonna be sad and ready for Hermy to spell him for a bit. What's the difference beteween a homerun and a single in that situation? Basically nothing. He gave up one hit and shut it down when he had to, he did fine imo.
  25. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) Marte needs to be the set up man for Hermey and Shingo needs to be back in the clubhouse serving up chop suey instead of serving gofer balls like he did again tonight. You know what, if shingo let up a single tonight we'd be hearing about how good he pitched and the thing is the homerun meant the same damn thing for this game, leave the guy alone today, he did fine.
