  1. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) and pick up who? Danny Wright, Jon Rauch maybe? Seriously though, Milton's awful.
  2. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) To the fella suggesting that Pablo Ozuna should be starting over Crede, consider that Ozuna is pretty much Triple A fodder while Crede has been a MVP at two different levels in the minors. Had Ozuna not raked the ball in Tucson, he wouldn't even be on the team. I'll support Crede because he plays hard and puts in the effort. As long as I see that from any player on the Sox, I'll be a supporter. I wouldn't call Ozuna a aaa fodder, he raked in the minors, the problem is he aged a bit in one day. Most of us can agree though that it's ridiculous for people to be suggesting starting changes after 7 games.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) And we're winning, so every1 be happy. Ha, I'm afraid to see what this place is going to look like when the sox have a two game losing streak. Could be pretty scary.
  4. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) You were saying? Ha, we'd be 0 and 162 if Poppy's predictions came true.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) I thought the roid suspensions were made public? Before this year usually the minor league steroid suspensions were kept within but that obviously changed with the 38 minor leaguers that were made a public a week or so ago.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) well yeah no arguing that, but this is a big learning year for them.... Berroa, Dejesus, Buck, Teahan... whose their 2B Gotay?? All those are young guys and with a year under their belt will be much improved next year... I just wonder if they will be able to unload Mike Sweeney this year. Ya, Gotay is their 2nd baseman, I personally think he's going to be a good player, he didn't really put up great numbers in the minor leagues but he's got a short and quick swing and a live bat. I think he's going to be a good player but that's jmo.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Idonno the Royals pitching staff isnt as bad as you make it out to be.. Hernandez and Greinkie are both good pitchers, Anderson and Lima are both avg. pitchers would be our number 5's but they can pitch a good one here or there... dont know their last pitcher. Lima and Anderson wouldn't crack the rotation of the sox. I agree though Hernandez and Greinke are both solid pitchers and bautista ain't bad either. I don't see Runylves(sp?) making it through the whole season and it'll be interesting to see the growing pains of Greinke and Bautista. KC is an improved team because their starting pitching is definitely better, however they're still finishing in the cellar by plenty of games.
  8. I support every player on this team and hope they all succeed as well everyone should. Joe's swing started to look good during the first game of the twins series and he's looking better and better at the plate each day, hopefully it continues.
  9. I'd take Aaron over Torrii but that's a pretty good argument.
  10. That's to bad. Walker's one of the players on the cubs I really respect, he's just a professional hitter. Lucky for the cubs here, this is the one position they have some depth at.
  11. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) i know, but i'm just saying to not get too cocky... its still very early Oh trust me, I'm not cocky at all, the twins still scare the crap out of me, I just don't think the Tigers or the Indians will be there at the end of the year.
  12. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) whats interesting is he has a point... i just looked at the runs each team has scored so far... Twins are LAST and we're 3rd to LAST... Guess who's first in the AL? Detroit... who knows guys... anything is still possible Ya, we were 3rd in the league last year in runs scored, that didn't get us very far.
  13. QUOTE(Pasqua's Mailman @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) That quote from today's Detroit News blew my mind. I guess a .500 start has the Tigers thinking big. http://www.detnews.com/2005/tigers/0504/11/D01-146478.htm I assume he means it's going to come down to them and the Indians for 3rd place, no?
  14. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Are you somehow suggesting that we should not look at improving any of our decision making? We must have won the WS for the last 5 years then..... You know what, Ozzie's the manager and he played many years in the bigs, I think he knows a little more then you about baseball. We all disagree with him at times and all want to play manager at times, hell I disagreed with putting Damaso in to start the 9th, I wanted shingo in there but it worked. The sox are 5 and 2 right now, so he's obviously doing something right, managers are going to make mistakes and ozzie's no different but not everything he does has to be critiqued.
  15. I like what I see. For me Thursday is a huge outing for Jose, we all know he has the capabilities of shutting a team down on any given night but with him it's consistancy. The games I saw him in ST I thought he looked excellent because he was featuring his fastball a bunch which he didn't do last year, if he keeps on doing that he might just have a huge year for the sox this year. Overall, I love this team, I love the starters, I the love the pen and I love the rebuilt offense, this is going to be a fun year.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) But it tastes good, kangaroo that is. Interesting........
  17. Ya, well basically everyone here called the Milton thing, just a disgusting amount of money to give an overrated pitcher.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Sex in a Car is more of an American Thing. Sex in a kangaroo??? Ok, dumb joke of the day.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Not gonna have to wait long. Ya, unfortunately I think you're right. I love Mark and he's an outstanding pitcher but Johan is on that level with Johnson and Schilling while Mark is on the level right below, imo.
  20. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) For all you Santana is a can't miss Cy Young winner this year let me remind you that Randy Johnson now pitches for the Yankees. The team that usually leads the league in HR's & R. As long as he's healthy enough to pitch 30+ starts he's probably in line for the fewest losses & the most wins amongst all starters. I'm lying my $ down on The Big Unit. Go ahead & put yours down on Santana. We'll see who wins. Nothing wrong with putting your money on randy to be the cy young but it's pretty obvious Johan is ain't a bad candidate to win it again.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Idonno Joe actually looked good at the plate against the twins this series... that 1st game he was hitting the ball hard just right at people... 2nd game he got a hit.. and while he K'd twice today he did hit that tough double against Santana today too....today Konerko looked really bad... but he been awesome for the season. Joe looked very good at the plate this series before today and he did have that nice piece of woodwork late in the game. Pauly was just pulling off of Santana's changeup, like you said he was hitting real well before tonight and I hope this doesn't throw him into a slump now because he looked real out of sorts at the plate tonight.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) He said "your" Red Sox? That's awesome! I saw the interview and heard him say something about the Red Sox but couldn't really understand what it was, if he said your Red Sox that's f'n awesome.
  23. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) No doubt Santana is one of the American League's best pitchers. I'm merely worried this tipping-hat mentality is felt among players as well. Such as: "Santana is good. Let's move on and forget about it." Then when September rolls around and we need a win, but are disgraced with a 12K performance, we're left clueless because noone bothered to assemble some plan against Santana. I hope our players approach him different their next start. Although I agree collecting 7 hits off Santana over 7 innings is impressive. However, how was Iguchi able to hit twice off Johan, despite never seeing him prior to today? Some of our players need to ask him his approach and follow it. Fair enough Flash and good point about Gooch. I actually was pretty satisfied with the offense early on, they were doing the little things well and manufacturing runs. The problem was after that every single thing was called a strike and really with Johan having that big of a strike zone you almost have no chance.
  24. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) Personally, I'm tired of tipping my hat for Santana. Eventually you have to develop a plan against him. Such as not swinging at the first two pitches; regardless of what is thrown. When you foul off Santanas changeup/fastball, its guages which pitch you're sitting on. In addition, nearly all his strikeouts are swinging. Usually because of a changeup in the dirt of a high fastball. This needs to be addressed. Anything is appropriate to battle Santana. I'm simply tired of admiring him. These players have to learn how to win against Santana, because he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Once again tell this to the whole league. I'm actually pretty impressed the sox managed 2 runs off of him considering the strike zone he had to work with.
  25. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) What gets me is that we are 4-2, we've won the first two series of the year and people are still finding things to b**** about. That's what is so remarkable about all of this to me. As long as we win the series as we go along, I am fine with this team. Why wasn't there a Contreras 1-0, Takatsu 0-1 thread after the Thursday game? I almost want to make a "Sole Possesion of First place thread" just to cancel out some of this negativity
