  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) "So much for Ozzie [Guillen's] speed ball," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said of his Chicago counterpart. "They're hitting home runs already on us." Is it just me or are we still heavily reliant on the HR. I know Hawk and DJ keep talking about small ball non-stop but we have 3 wins and 2 of them were because of HR's...(and pitching but talking hitting wise). Idonno I like Pods stolen bases and no one seems to be really swinging for the fences with the exception of Dye's HR but he hit it so cant complain. Just wanted to say we still seem like a HR reliant team to me. We don't have to rely on the homerun though. Some games we're going to win games with it and when we dont we have the pieces to win games by playing small ball and that's how ozzie and kenny wanted this team built. It's a balanced offense so they can beat you in different ways.
  2. Lebron's a great player and you really can't argue otherwise. I don't even understand why people compare him to Jordan, for me Magic is definitely the better comparison. I do disagree about him being the best overall player in the nba, imo that's still Tim Duncan.
  3. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Sox should also be 4-0 if it wasn't for s***go the junk-baller ruining my entire f***ing day of drinking on Thursday. Or they could still be 3 and 1 if it wasn't for wickman the fatass leaving all his sinkers up on Weds, look at it how you please.
  4. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Looks awesome blacksox but you can't click on it.
  5. It's actually pretty funny to look at the al standings. Everyone in the league is 2 and 2 except the sox and rangers(who are 1 and 3).
  6. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) With Ozuna getting a start in left, it looks more and more as if Timo's days with the Sox are numbered with Frank coming back. Nah, Pablo can play left and ozzie just wants to get as many righties as possible in against Johan. Ozzie and kenny like Timo to much to get rid of him, as do I
  7. QUOTE(GreenSox @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Guillen did today what he should have done yesterday: let hermanson pitch the 9th. I disagree about that but it's time to move on anyways. I will say I hope the next time their is a save opportunity that Ozzie doesn't even hesitate and goes right to shingo to let shingo know that ozzie has confidence in him
  8. I'm happy for Jose, I felt bad for him after that error in his first game. I definitely wish him the best.
  9. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Jose Valentine just hit a pinch hit 2 run homer in the 9th to give the Dodgers an 8-7 lead against the D'backs. Good for Jose
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) If its not too bad, but bad enough so where he can't go tomorrow, why wouldn't Garland just pitch on Sunday, while Burly pitches on Saturday. That way you don't have to move Freddy up and everybody would be back on normal rest with the off day on Tuesday. Good point, I was to dumb to think of that
  11. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Any chance a certain someone would get a spot start on Sunday instead of Freddy on short rest? I highly doubt that, no need to bring him up for 1 start then send him back down. We don't want to jerk him around he's to special to be messing around with.
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Unfortunately it won't be at 3rd base in place of Crede... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws How nice it must be to get your first start of the season against Johan Santana. :banghead It makes sense though. Give Scott a day off against a tough lefty, makes perfect sense to me actually.
  13. Hopefully Jon will feel better and be ready to go, if not then atleast Mark is on normal rest but Freddy would be moved up a day.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) If he's healthy, there's no doubt in my mind he's an awesome number three... No fricken doubt the only worry with el duque is his health, if he's out there he's going to be a damn good pitcher. Man, just awesome baseball tonight, I love watching a game like that. Great pitching, got the 2 bombs, manufactured a run with scott's steal and carl's hit, absolutely beautiful game.
  15. Joe had a good game at the plate but had nothing to show for it, give him a couple more games he looked pretty good today.
  16. I told my friend in an im right then, that he was either going to homer or pop out.
  17. The reason that shingo got hit yesterday was because his fastball was up and over the middle of the plate, it's not because anyone is figuring shingo out. Shingo's going to be absolutely fine.
  18. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) (as long as I keep him out of my avatar).
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) I didn't see the game so I'm just going on the numbers, but Ozzie shouldn't have wasted all of our bullpen pitchers before he got to Luis. I guess there's always going to be the question how he fares at the Cell considering he's a flyball pitcher. Yeah his game by the numbers looks awful but he can pitch. He looked damn good today when he first came in but pitching that much this early in the season had to be tiring on his arm. I think Viz is going to have a huge year for us this year, he was a nice "throw in" to get in the caballo deal.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Contreras showed today what he can do when he doesn't have runners on, that'll probably be the key for him. Pods and Iguchi seem to be laying down a good platform at the top of the order, but the lower part in Crede, Uribe and Rowand need to pick it up in order for this team to be much better offensively. Getting Frank back will be a huge plus as well. Shingo and Vizcaino well definitely worrying today, but I was glad to see Politte pitch well and Hermanson as well, you could say those two have some question marks on them a little. I disagree about Vizcaino, I thought he pitched very well. He pitched an inning and a third yesterday then he came back today pitched another inning and a third before he got hit in his next inning, the guy's arm was no doubt tired, it's the third game of the season and he got ran out there a lot the last two days. To tell you the truth right now there isn't a relief pitcher I feel more comfortable with then Viz. As far as Shingo goes, he had a bad day, that's all, his pitches were up and out over the plate and he got hit, next time we need a save he'll shut 'em down.
  21. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) An inning is not an inning in my opinion. There are a lot of guys who have proven they can't pitch the ninth (Hawkins, Politte, Maybe Dotel and Mota-jury is out). That said, Herm was pretty decent in the ninth last year. The book says you go with your closer in the ninth and I bet Shingo bounces back this weekend. Hopefully he doesn't face Mauer or Morneau should he play. I agree. Shingo's our guy and he just blew it, period. He's blown 2 saves in his career and both were against cleveland they seem to have his number a bit. Shingo's going to be fine though, this was just a game where he left his pitches up and down the middle of the plate, he'll be fine though.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) We should know after the first couple innings if Jose has it or not. Agreed. You can always tell with Jose right away. Like I said earlier if he's throwing his fastball consitancy like he did in Milwaukee he's going to be just fine.
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) It's 8-3 now. D-Backs just launched one. Yup, that was Glaus, launched an opposite field shot against latroy.
  24. Contreras really looked good to me last Friday, hopefully he continues to throw that fastball and get ahead of the hitters, if he does he should be fine. On a side note I'm going all out to follow the game tomorrow. From 1 to 1:35 I'll be listening on the radio in class, after that I'll drive home for my lunch period to watch for a little bit, then I have to come back from 2:20 to 2:50 where I'll be following through gamecast and then after that I'll rush back home to catch the last 3-4 innings.
