Just came from the game
No, Freddy was actually damn impressive. He struggled in the first 3 innings but worked hit butt off to only allow 2 runs in those first 3 and then dominated his next 3 innings.

Just came from the game
I personally hate these 1 o'clock games, I can't get out to the park, I have to wire my headphones through my sweatshirt to listen to the first half of the game and then rush home to catch the last half. It's very hard for most people to get out to the stadium during these type of games because of work and/or school.

White Sox Winner!!
QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) Ozzie ball my flopping ass. We saw the balance of the offense in that inning, it was fun to watch. The two homeruns, then Rowand double, willie gets him over and juan gets him in, absolutely awesome.

White Sox Winner!!
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) His last at bat was horrible though. He was over-anxious and he swung at too extremely high pitches to K. Just clarifying for others that your talking about gooch, not pods.

White Sox Winner!!
Two games into the season and already sole possesion of first place

White Sox Winner!!
Beastly I respect your opinion but come on man, you were complaining on Monday that this team wasn't exciting enough, I mean how can you ask for more excitement then this game?? Now you've moved onto to other things, just enjoy it, the sox are 2 and 0 and that's the only thing that matters.

White Sox Winner!!
I thought damaso looked fantastic today. Hafner hit a slicer that stayed fair that really wasn't hit that hard. Damaso's stuff is back, his fastball looked great and his slider looked good too, the ump didn't give him the call for any of his sliders but I thought Marte looked great today. Actually I thought the whole bullpen looked great. Another thing to remember is Viz came in for his 2nd inning of work where Hermanson probably would have came in if he wasn't suspended, regardless I'm estatic with this whole bullpen, this is going to be a shutdown pen this year. I absolutely love it.

White Sox Winner!!
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) Huge props to Wickman for dropping the ball. That bobble meant absolutely nothing. It was a perfect sac bunt and both runners would have advanced regardless.

White Sox Winner!!
Unf***inbelievable, I'm so f***in happy right now. Props to Pauly, Dye and Rowand no doubt but how about the bunt by willie, I thought ozzie made the wrong choice to go with willie to lay it down but it was absolutely beautiful, awesome job willie--thanks for proving me wrong. Then juan with a beautiful piece of hitting going the opposite way for the sac fly and the win, AWESOME. Freddy impressed the hell out of me, it seemed like he was going to get wrecked in the first 3 innings but he battled and battled and only let up 2 runs and then absolutely dominated his last 3 innings of work. The bullpen looked great too, Neal, Viz and Damaso all looked very good to me. Awesome game, unbelievable effot.

BA America
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Link to BA Thoughts? Sox at 12, which is pretty good considering we still have some good prospects down in the A-levels that, with a solid year, could make our overall farm system really good (talking about guys like Gio and Franky Hernandez). Then again, we were ranked first in 2000, correct? But, I think 12 is a pretty fair ranking... Sounds about right to me. That's a pretty solid ranking considering some of the sox more talented players are in the lower minors. I'm excited to see guys such as gio, wes, hernandez and lumsden(assuming he comes back healthy) grow and develop this year.

Around The Majors
Poor Jose. Booted a ball that allowed 2 runs for sf to score and win the game.

Rowand says there's no selfish players on the Sox
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) To my way of thinking, even his non-homerun, high average stretch of games, does not necessarily mean he was not thinking selfishly. He was 'seeing the ball' great and making solid contact. But he still might have gotten many hits through the left side, when the situation dictated going the other way. When you are on a roll and you hit the ball 'where it is pitched', then all the power to you. But sometimes you have to force it the other way to the detriment of your average. I am not saying this is what happened. I am just pointing out that statistics alone do not point to sefishness or otherwise. Oh, I agree. I'm not basing this on his stats but just the way he worked the ball all around the field, hitting line drives and not just trying to hit the ball out of the park. Punch and Judy, difference of opinion, agree to disagree

Rowand says there's no selfish players on the Sox
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) It's nto really fair to categorize Lee as a homer happy guy considering that by the end of his long hitting streak, he only had 4 hoemrs and it's not like he was hitting 218 That was the carlos lee i wish i saw all of his career. He was a GREAT hitter during that streak, cause he was using all directions of the field not overswinging, taking what was given to him. After that streak he went to walker saying he wanted to hit more homeruns, that's always bothered me. He started hitting his fair share of homeruns but he was back to popping up a lot of pitches and overswinging in key situations where he'd only care about hitting a homerun, that was always my biggest problem with carlos.

So, how does the park look?
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) Club level is cushioned, no..? They're normal seats with 2 cushions on them. The scout seats are just all cushioned.

Sox on ESPN this Sunday
QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) IIRC, wasn't Garcia's debut a Sunday Night game last year at MIN? And didn't we win that one? Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I seem to recall. It wasn't a sunday game, I believe it was a wednesday game, might have been a thursday game, it was one of those two though.

And That's a White Sox Winner!!!!!
I personally love watching a team move a runner a long, lay down a bunt, hit a sac fly, etc. I'd rather watch that then see a ball fly out of the park. Personally I don't care how exciting it is or how they do it, I just want the sox to win, period.

UNC vs. Illinois
QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Yeah man, I remember in 2000 when we got swept away by the M's I cried a lot. I was only in 6th grade at the time, but it still sucked. I couldn't imagine if it was the WS after having the greatest season in the history of the franchise. Also, after we lost this kid, a cubs fan, called me and rubbed it in my face that we lost. I didn't become friends with him again until this year. So yeah, I took that loss pretty hard. I almost decapitated(sp?) my friend after game 3, i had a football in my hand for some reason, seattle laid down that squeeze, i chucked the ball not knowing my friend was behind me, he got out of the way just in time. I then went into the bathroom and just starting crying, terrible day.

UNC vs. Illinois
QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) This game>>>>>>>>>>>>>> one white sox game. Meh, not for me In all honesty if the sox lost game 7 of the world series after a great season I'd be crying me eyes out. I make that comparison cause I know for some of you the Illini are your number one team like the sox are for me. Like willie said some people live and die by there teams, I know I do with the sox and I know others do with this team.

UNC vs. Illinois
Illinois fans, I know you don't want to hear it now but you guys had a great season. I know it's hard but congrats on a great year. Palehose, it pains me to say this but congrats, I was wrong about unc all year, you guys just beat a great team, congrats, enjoy it.

And That's a White Sox Winner!!!!!
QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) There were some pretty major renovations to the park, correct? How did they look for those of whom got to go to the game? The Park looked fantastic. The fundamentals looked nice the scout seats were, everything about today was just nice. What a day!!!!!
