  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) Jon Scheyer, Glenbrook North, 48 points Holy f***ing s***. Choose Illinois my friend! A couple of my friends went to watch him play and just said he's absolutely amazing. I guess he had a chance for 50 at the end of the game but got stuffed by the rim when attempting a dunk
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) I even think his fastball is a bit faster -- Jason said he's seen Mac top out at 95 when he wants to give someone some high heat, but he's right in the range you indicated. EDIT: And while velocity isn't everything, you'd hope that he fills out his frame a little bit more and adds some more bite to that heater... Unfortunately I missed bmac pitch both times(right when I'd get home from school, he'd be taken out ) Keith, tell me if I'm wrong here, it sounds like he has a lot of movement on his fastball and he obviously spots that pitch excellently. IMO, movement is more important then the velocity on the fastball and if you can spot that pitch it's almost impossible to hit.
  3. QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) They gonna show a replay of this at all? I'm gonna be at skool. I'm not My mom let me stay home to watch the tourney today and now I get to watch this too, pretty awesome
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 07:43 AM) Starting pitchers are the 5 guys we have signed to big contracts until further notice. MB Garcia Garland Hernandez Contreras Bullpen Shingo Hermy Viz Politte Cotts Marte Surprise of camp has been BMac no doubt, and that is saying something. We have kept hearing how good he is, and how good he will be... but he has shutdown two of the best hitting teams in baseball in the thin air of AZ. He has been incredible Honorable mentions go to Pablo Ozuna and Reynoso. Both have openned eyes. Pretty easy there, basically the only spot left for pitching is that last lefty bullpen slot. I personally am hoping that Kevin Walker can continue to impress and we can let Neal get some time to start down in charlotte.

    To answer the title, nope.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) GT? The ACC is allergic to defense. Have you seen gtech play this year?? They're one of the best defensive teams in the nation, imo.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Very solid defensively, especially on the perimeter. And how did they get hosed you ask, Rex? They are 29-4, won their conference and conference tournament, are ranked #4 in BOTH polls and have an RPI of 12, in their last 19 games, they are 18-1, now how does that compute to being a 4 seed. At worst they should have been a 3 seed and they should have easily been a solid number two. Even Pitino himself agrees with that and he is not one to complain. Aboz, this is what I found interesting. Just comparing Louisville to Washington. Both cusa and the pac 10 are 4 bid leagues, Louisville won both the regular season and conference tourny in cusa while washington just won the tourny in the pac 10. Not only that Louisville has less losses and less conference losses then Washington. Yet somehow Washington is a 1 and Louisville a 4, doesn't make any sense to me, Louisville should be atleast a 2, imo.
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) One more reminder..... Draft is tomorrow night 6:45PM I should be able to make it, if not then I'll prerank my players. Hopefully, I'll be there though.
  9. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Pittsburgh is the olny team in this entire region that plays defense... And they play a very physical game, if the refs choose to call a close game, they'll lose every time. That's not true at all. Pitt, gtech, and Louisville are all good defensive teams.
  10. Well good thing Freddy and Sabathia won't be pitching that game.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) Didn't he put his reputation on the line? Or lack there of... Didn't he say he'd put his job on it?? If so, why hasn't he quit yet.
  12. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I think Joe B will make the team. No chance. There is just no room for him on the roster.
  13. Well wunsch did it in the minors, so there you go-- a player no longer on the sox who did it in the minors.
  14. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) This is why when Frank comes back, Timo has to go. We can't have Timo taking AB's away from Carl. Carl as the fourth outfielder can spell each of the regular OF's once a week as well as DH once in a while. Timo won't be taking ab's away from Carl.
  15. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) I guess you can make that argument about their offense. It seems to me at least that Plavich has a massive drag on their FG%. Withers (leading scorer) shoots about 47%, Basden (#2) is a little under 50%. Plavich only shoots about 37.5% as their #3 scorer, and the bulk of his shots are from the arc. If he is hitting though, that percentage jumps a ton. They don't have quality wins, but they also didn't get multiple shots at Duke/Wake/UNC. They basically had one shot at home versus Bama that they lost by a point, a home/away split against Cinci, and a game at Louisville that they lost (I guess you could the win at Marquette when they still had Deiner, but that still isn't stellar). They did win well over 20 games, which is fairly impressive. I'm just not at all impressed with NC State, they're basically Northwestern with Julius Hodge and a harder schedule. In the end I guess it doesn't matter since I doubt that either team can beat UConn. Fair enough. We each have our own opinions on it and we'll find out thursday.
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) What do we do with him once Frank is back? Super sub? Or trade him? or what? Good problem to have, no doubt about that. This is where ozzie really gets to manage, I believe you'll see Ozzie keep his hottest bats in the lineup if Carl is hitting better then Jermaine he'll be starting in rf and vice versa, imo.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) But then the Cubs have 1 right? And its a Cubs-Sox game?? That's the 1 on wgn, it's the sox-cubs game I believe on Friday.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) That sucks big time. I know sometimes I watch ESPN around 12 and they do rebroadcasts of the sporting events, they must not do it for spring training games. In that case does anyone know if the Sox get another game on ESPN next week? I heard Stone say they were gonna be at TEP again next week, but I'm assuming its gonna be for a Dbacks game? If it is another Sox game that be cool. Plus there will be 2 on WGN (I think). Only 1 on wgn.
  19. QUOTE(quade36 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) With the Emergence of McCarthy and the idea that it'll be hard not to bring this guy up to the majors, who can the Sox trade to make room for him and what could they get? I know Garland and Contreras' names keep popping up in threads. But which would you trade (or maybe someone else) and what do the Sox need to get in return? I think the Sox did a great job in the offseason filling their needs so I am a little curious as to what you all think about this. This is simple, nobody. We finally have some starting pitching depth and Brandon could still use some time at charlotte. If Brandon continues to dominate in aaa which I'm sure he will and the scenario arrives where he gets his shot in the majors and continues to impress then we look into some trade possibilites.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) Well I know one thing, I'll puke if I see Adkins, Stewart, Munoz or Diaz in the starting rotation at any point this year with the White Sox. None of them are starters. In Diaz case, back end reliever and in Adkins and Munoz case maybe a bit more. In Munoz case he could be a pretty damn good lefty reliever. As far as Honel goes, don't mention that name as a starting candidate until he pitches like he did a couple years back. Until then, he ain't a prospect. Same with Bobby Jenks. What about Neal, Jas?? Of course I mean if Walker makes the team instead of him and they let Neal start down in charlotte. I love Neal and I've said all along I think neal has a chance to be special but he needs to obviously work on his control and develop another pitch.
  21. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Evtimov I believe has been shooting very well lately also. I just haven't really been impressed at all with Charlotte, aren't Cincinatti and Indiana the only good teams that Charlotte beat this year? I could be wrong because I haven't checked, but overall I'm not impressed. State will get demolished by UConn anyways in the 2nd round. Agreed.
  22. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) There's alot of parity in the brackets. The Albuquerque region actually has 4 of the top 12 teams in the nation in the final polls and a very hot Georgia Tech team. I see Louisville, GT, and WF all doing well and WF defeating GT in their brackets finals to advance to the final 4. Palehose, you going to scout the game tonight??? Oakland's going to upset your heals
  23. QUOTE(The Bones @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Which regions is everyone having the most problems with? I know I've got Illinois and UNC coming out of Chicago and Syracuse, but I'm having problems with the Albuquerque and Austin regions, especially Albuquerque. I think I want Cuse out of Austin but I also think they could lose very early to MSU or even Vermont. In Albuquerque no one out of Washington, Wake, Gonzaga, or Louisville really stands out to me. I could honestly see any of them losing in the 2nd round. That is IMO the weakest region by far. IMO, the weakest region is definitely austin.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Wasn't Ozuna playing ss? I know Lopez made an error but trust me when I say he's a very good defensive infielder or at least he projects that way? But on the one that Anderson couldn't get to (the shallow fly) the shortstop had given up on it way too early. Yes, Lopez was at 2nd.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) 5 innings, 0 ER Runs (2 runs). Don't know the hits or k's. Someone can tell you. Good comparison in regards to Francis. Cause Francis is another guy that does it with control and not velocity. Still, I continue to believe and say that Bmac will develop some more velocity as he fills out. He's about 20 pounds heavier then he once was. I loved how when runner was on first you saw him just hammer the lower part of the zone and get the ground balls. He also overcame the error and calmed back down and got out of the inning. Fantastic outing. I agree with you there, he'll definitely add some more velocity which can make him down right scary.
