QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Scary trend: The Sox are scoring all their runs in one game again. I was hoping for a lot of 3-2, 5-2, 1-0 wins this season. Hopefully this is just coincidence and out of the ordinary due to ST. PS: Brandon running over to first on the soft toss from Paulie was very reminiscent of a baby giraffe. Meh, don't be to worried about it addy. Cause the lineups are so different day in and day out your going to have an inconsistant offense most likely during st.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) Relax on B-Mac. I like him as much as the next guy, but the last thing I want to do is see him rushed here. Lets not give him a punched ticket to the hall before he has been in AAA. If all goes well, he is in the pen for the Sox next season, maybe starting......... Agreed. I think Brandon is in the rotation next year no matter what even with all 5 starters signed through next year. No need to rush him, let him dominate in charlotte a bit and if duque goes down or another pitcher goes down he'll most likely be the first guy to get a shot. It's definitely hard to hold the excitement over Brandon though, he has a chance to be something special.

Blah, I get home and bmac gets taken out. Judging by his stats he pitched outstanding, anything stand out about him?? Sounds like he's got 100 percent control on his heater, how did his offspeed stuff look??

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) At least you guys over there can talk to people about sports. Down here the closest I'd get, is talking to one of my buddies about how good Albert Pujols is. No Andrew Bogut discussions???

QUOTE(silver and black @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Anyone mind making an AJP one for me(or anyone else who likes him)? Your pretty good at this stuff, why don't you make one??

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Carlos Lee leads all of baseball so far in ST in HRs and RBI, with 4 and 11 respectively. Also, leading the league in most chins gained over the winter

Blah, this sucks. Hopefully Tyler can recover quickly, like Dan mentioned I was hoping for a quick move through the system from him. Definitely going to slow his progress a bit. Most importantly hopefully everything will be fine in his elbow and he'll be able to come back at full strength.

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) Chris Paul is a punk. No doubt. Now don't get me wrong what the nc state fans did is awful but it wasn't like Julius was the one shouting that crap. Paul is a punk, and an overrated one at that. Paul is a great player but some people make him out to be the best player to ever play in the acc is ridiculous, imo. -
I thought since there was one of these for most of the major conferences I'd make one for the sec. So here's my predictions: South Carolina over Miss Miss State over Georgia Arkansas over Tenn Vandy over Auburn 'bama over SC Miss State over Florida Kentucky over Arkansas LSU over Vandy Miss State over 'bama LSU over Kentucky LSU over Miss State

Ha, I just remembered this and thought I would share. Earlier in the year some cub fan was trying to rip on the sox and he was claiming how much of a baseball fan he was. So anyways I try to ignore these kids now but this guy was really getting on my nerves, so eventually while he's still talking I just interupt him and I ask "you claim to be a big baseball fan, right?" He responds and says yes. So I ask him to tell me what OPS is. He pauses and then finally says he doesn't know, I told him if you can't even tell me what OPS is, I'm not talking with you and I just walked away. Good times.

QUOTE(Cali @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Also is Mackowiak a White Sox fan from his youth? His player page says he was born in Oak Lawn. I thought I remembered hearing he may have been a Sox fan. Yup, he's a sox fan or atleast was growing up. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I know what you're saying, SF1. To tell you the truth, I don't really even talk to my friends about baseball very often... When you have to explain to them why Frank Thomas is still a great player, it gets tough. I just kind of nod my head when (some) of my friends are talking baseball. I can talk to about 2 people in my school about baseball. The others just don't know what they're talking about and I can't even deal with it. Today, I was told that Freddy was at best a 4th starter and I couldn't even continue talking with this person. I mean imo it serves no purpose arguing with these type of people because they just don't understand the game.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Rowand, is this your first time seeing Sweeney live? Reason I ask, it's my first time, and he has an odd batting stance. Almost John Olerud like. But, that swing is BEAUTIFUL, like you said... You know what, I believe it is. I would have remembered a swing that nice Gotta love having these spring training games on tv, I finally get to see some of our prospects, pretty exciting for me.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Rowand, I definitely agree with yours and Jason's assessment of Diaz. I'm not saying he's going to be the staff ace or anything like that. I just don't think it's very good judgement to pass a total opinion on a guy when he's had very little time up at the major league level (and was really handled poorly by the Sox organization, IMHO). People seem to dislike that he hasn't shown control at the major league level, yet at AAA, he was very good at keeping batters off the base (as far as walking guys). I realize AAA and the majors are two different beasts, but I'm not ready to judge him quite yet... Fair enough and I agree that's it's to early to give up on him. Honestly, my opinion on him is more from watching him pitch then the results he has shown. I actually really like Felix because of the control he has shown throughout his minor league career, like I said earlier his fastball just scares me, it's just to straight and he has to locate it perfectly for it to be effective. The thing is Felix in the minors proved he was able to do that. If he can get over this mental hump he seems to have who knows he could be a successful 5th starter in this league, I surely hope so.

Yeesh, sweeney's swing is absolutely beautiful.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Ohh, damn. Jeff showing a nice little slider (or a curve) there, nice velocity too. I like Jeff, he had some terrible luck last year in the bigs, a lot of soft hit singles against him last year.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Oh, ok, LOL. I was puzzled and I knew there was a pitcher on the Sox that met that category. Although Grilli is nothing in my book, imo. He was pretty well removed from injury cause he had pitched fully in the previous year with the Marlins organization if I recall. As far as Diaz goes, I'm souring on him. He'll never be a very good major leaguer. His only shot is back of the rotation or middle of the pen, imo. And he won't get there until he starts repeating his delivery and stops hanging pitches. Diaz can throw a sharp couple pitches but no matter what he'll throw a ton of flat breaking pitches that just HAAAANG. Well, I personally liked Jason and I definitely liked his stuff. I thought last year was Jason's first full year back from surgery if not well then I retract that statement. I'm not saying with Jason that he was going to be a star or anything but I do believe he had a shot to be decent but that's jmo. Anyways with Felix I'm with you. I've always thought he could be a number 5 starter in the bigs and I still think he could get there, he's just never going to be anything special. Like I said earlier there is obviously something upstairs with him that's not clicking in the majors. Besides the mental aspect the other thing that really bothers me about Felix is his fastball is so damn straight and if he's going to pitch in the bigs he's going to have to be perfect with that pitch.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) I know, I'm a real jagoff for being 16, huh? but it gets to a point with some guys (like Borchard) where it's just being overkill. .........and timo.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Hmm... Judging him off of last season, right around 50 IP? Kind of like judging a guy his first year off surgery on 45 major league innings.
