  1. Honestly, whoever makes the playoffs out of the central(sox or twins) I think has a real shot to do some damage in the playoffs because of their pitching, jmo.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Qwerty was the one who decided to beat the dead horse again. Look at post #215. I wasn't directing my comment at you, just in general. I guess I'm just tired of the whole Timo discussion.
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) The games are not played on paper. You learn more about baseball by watching what goes on during the game, not staring at a box score putting together equations to come up with a new stat. Baseball is a game, not a damn science. I completely agree with that, however everyone is entitled to their opinion and there is really no reason to argue over someone else's opinion because in most instances it just won't change. This whole Timo thing needs to be put to rest.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) It would be freaking fantastic. I'm doubting he has the arm strength to be a starter for any extended period. At the same time David Eckstein never had the arm strenght to be a great SS, yet fielding% wise he was among the best in the businss and Chone Figgins sure as hell didn't have the arm to play 3rd base. The Angels managed. I know one thing, Willie Harris, if given another starting spot is going to be a good ballplayer. I'd love to see Willie be able to handle short but I also have my doubts. I'd love to see Willie and Burke make the team, that would give the sox one hell of a bench imo.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) Hells yeah I'd take Mark Kotsay over scooter. SB's mean nothing. In 2004, there was a negative correlation between runs scored and Stolen bases. Baseball is about scoring runs. Correlation to RS BA - .80 OBP - .87 SLG - .92 OPS - .97 SB - -.16 Chicks dig the longball, and so do I. (I'm a sucker for the suicide sqeeze too, but those actually equate to runs scored) To tell you the truth cheat those stats mean absolutely nothing to me. The fact remains with a better offense Kotsay scored 78 runs while Scott scored 85 in an awful year offensively for him.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) How many runs did Pods SB's in the past two days lead to? For stealing 70 SB's last season he only scored 85 runs. What a joke. They don't mean s***. Gimme a guy who can get on base more often, and doesn't give away outs by getting thrown out. They turn the the line-up over and give the team more opportunities than a low OBP his steals guy. Wait, you're going to use 2 spring training games for your argument. That's a joke. Perhaps you'd like Mark Kotsay over Pods who had a .370 obp to Scott's .313 last year. Kotsay also had the better hitters in back of him, yet Mark doesn't run at all. Scott still scored more runs then Kotsay last year. Now I'm not saying scott doesn't have to get on base more this year, cause he does and I'm almost certain he will but to say stolen bases are meaningless is a complete joke to me.
  7. This Timo argument has been beaten to death. Everyone knows how everybody else feels on the subject, why not move on?
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Had to swipe the first one for my av, that's how great it was. Thief I like that first pic a lot, goes with his image well.
  9. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Not fun when you're watching your team play itself OUT of the Tournament... They'll probably still get in but they're getting close to that stupid bubble.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Ha thanks Rowand. It'll at the least be up until Selection Sunday. Man oh man, these days are going to go slow. Told ya I agree though, selection sunday is always a fun day this year and then I'm taking school off the first day of the tourny also which I've never done before. I'm looking forward to just sitting around and watching college bball all day on that day, can't wait
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) Robert Montgomery wins #850... Jim Calhoun wins #700.... That's a cool sig greasy, well themed.
  12. QUOTE(silver and black @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) JR:You think we should sign him? KW:Are they making a Major League 4? or Is Johnny Depp bankrupt? JR: As long as he doesn't get paid 13 million a year, I'll be happy... That's coop, dougly, not Reinsy.
  13. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Rashad's mom thinks his illness is caused by stress over her diagnosis of breast cancer a little while ago. Doctors removed the tumor and said it didn't spread, but its really been bothering him apparently. Thats gonna be tough for him to focus on basketball, but he's a tough guy physically and mentally, he can get through it. My prayers are with him and his mom. I hope him and his mom get through it. Honestly, wouldn't surprise me in the least if his illness is due to stress, that has to be a tough situation. Hopefully they'll both recover fully.
  14. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) i really wish i could watch this depaul game right now...down 1 in OT at UAB Unbelievable, Depaul hits a 2 with .1 seconds left and game over :headshake
  15. QUOTE(Nokona @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) So does anyone have the full Minors rosters? I got BMac, Anderson Sweeney and Fields (he's the 3B in W-S). Past that I'm not sure. Just wondering how you know that's Fields and not just a made up player??
  16. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) Holy crap Cintron is behind K-Layton for the starting shortstop position? Clayton had a decent year last year but was in Colorado, and two years ago Cintron was great, what gives? Is Clayton's defense that good? Royce's defense is overrated. If he gets to the ball he makes the play but he doesn't have good range at all.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Buehrle starting right? Yes sir.
  18. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Best driving advice? Use Lot E. You will have NO trouble getting on the highway. I do the church parking, you're able to get out very quickly.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) You're paying $13 this year, maybe I am wrong about what quick is paying, who knows. I will have to ask him. If drive ups pay $17, season ticketholders get roughly a 30% discount. Unless they raised it this year, I never paid 17 last year, I'm pretty sure it was 16 but it might have been 15.
  20. Escobar is going to be in next inning.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Weird.... When I go down there for opening day I'm demanding the steff discount
  22. Ya, it was either 15 or 16 for us last year.
  23. Rauch warming up.
  24. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) Per ESPN News. I feel bad for Cheeks, he was a classy guy coaching a classless team.
  25. A little off topic but I have trouble just listening to the radio when I'm not in a car. So I'm going to play mvp with the volume off while listening to the game. Life doesn't get much better then that. B)
