QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) I saw him pitch a game this spring and put it this way, the kid is right on the brink. He still has some command issues, but just watching him pitch I was left thinking I was seeing one of the best arms of the past 10 years (no joke). The mix between his fastball and curve is just filthy. Assuming he stays healthy and can throw strikes, he's going to be phenomenal. I saw him pitch that game against the cubs.....man, he was damn impressive.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) It's still there, look it up. Doesn't anyone still hold THIS ritual sacred in the Church of Baseball? Fine, make me do work :headshake

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) My thoughts are that noone in the game thread should reference the fact that he has a perfect game going.... Who did that?? QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Or the chat... ....and that?? DJ????

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) With their elite prospects (weeks, Fielder, Rogers, and Cappellan) look out. THis team has long term success as a real possibility. THis wittles the free agetn pitcher market down to guys like Burnett, Morris and Millwood now that Cris Carpetner has also resigned Kind of nice to have all 5 of our guys signed through next year plus having some 21 year old down at Charlotte who seems to be decent

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) You have got to be f***ing kidding me. Perez in the leadoff spot, after a night in which Harris is on base three times, with two hits and a walk? TIMO f***ING PEREZ IN THE LEADOFF SPOT?!?!?!?!?!?! :puke :puke :puke Remeber last time you complained about Timo's position in the order?

QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Why are pitchers all of the sudden extending their contracts for less than market-value, especially after this offseason? He definitely signed for under what his market value is but I think he'll be ok making 38 mill over 4 years, I think he'll be able to feed his children(if he has any)

Carl's in the lineup tonight: lf Perez 2b Iguchi dh Everett 1b Konerko rf Dye cf Rowand c Pierzynski 3b Crede ss Uribe

I agree, this is a good offense and so far some of the better offensive players on the team have struggled. Juan looked good last night, Joe's looked good since the start of the Twins series, Pauly's coming out of his minny and funk and so is Aaron. Once some of our main guys start getting it going then this offense is going to be very dangerous imo.

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) if you mean under 4 X 2 then maybe ide agree, but there is no chance Neal has an ERA under 4 this season We'll see.

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) hahaha holy crap you have got to be kidding me Nope, no joke. Just watch.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) I will take that bet. Alright, sig bet?

I'll be at the game on Saturday should be a lot of fun. Seattle has some players I really enjoy to watch and they've been playing good baseball as of late, should be a fun series.

Say what you want about arod and his contract but he's been a class act throughout his career. Great job Arod
-
I'm with qwerty on this one. Ross is a very good hitter and he's been throughout his career wherever he's been playing. I actually thought ross was a very good clutch hitter last year but everyone to there own. EDIT: By the way I'd be willing to bet that Neal has an era under 4 for this season.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 06:06 AM) Never fails here........ Someone should really start a list of all the "sucks" or "hates" or "blows" threads over the season. Im sure we would have no one to root for by July........ Lets see there's been atleast one thread blaming someone after every loss so going by that we wouldn't have a team at all because these guys would have shipped everyone off, this is ridiculous, seriously. Teams lose in baseball, players make mistakes get used to it cause it's going to happen many more times this year, yeesh.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) What? When has Cotts ever been good for us? Let him figure it out in the minors. Neal's a major league pitcher and he's proven that, the only reason to ever send him back down is for when the sox decide to use him as a starter if that ever happens. Personally I think he had Hafner struck out which changes the whole complexion of the inning but either way we're 9 games into the season, the sox are 6 and 3 and you already want to get rid of two key players for this team, gotta settle down a bit. -
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) That is where Rowand needs to be, hitting 7 in front of Crede, He is never going to get s*** to hit.. Good thing he hits 6th in front of AJ and everyone needs to layoff Joe, seriously.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Cotts can get MLB'ers out at times but he gets behind in the count, gets wild, walks guys, and gives up runs. He's not the answer either. Are you going to want to get rid of a guy everytime he has a bad game or makes a bad play?? Cause it sure seems that way. -
.200 is remaned from the "Mendoza Line" to........
Rowand44 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ugh, these threads are disgusting. Joe's looked pretty good at the plate lately but I guess unless he hits .300 some people are just alway's going to have it in for him. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Man, I absolutely love our bullpen. For the last two years i've had no faith in anybody outside of Marte, Shingo, And Gordon in 2003. Now we've got 4 if not 5 guys that we know can come in and do the job. It's a great feeling. Honestly for me with Cliff getting his slider over right now, I basically have faith in anyone we put into the game, that's an unbelievable feeling.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) When he's fully mature, he'll be just about ready for retirement. Ha. Maybe maturing isn't the right word but I mean he's definitely pitching smarter, he still has control issues but in these two starts and the starts I saw him pitch in the spring he's using his fastball much, much more then he did last year.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) I don't know what I like more -- his high strikeout totals or the real low walk totals. Both are very, very impressive... For me it's the very low walk totals. Like you said both are quite impressive but to find someone who just came out of high school and is as young as he is to have that kind of control is almost impossible to do. If he stays healthy he's going to be a good one. -
I was thinking the same thing with willie replacing aj, I also wanted Timo to pinch hit for Crede in the 7th not because I have anything against Joe because like I've been saying he's looked much better at the plate lately but I just thought that was a perfect situation for Timo. I'm very happy ozzie stayed with Joe there now, that's why he makes the f'n lineup As far as Jose goes, he couldn't throw a strike in the first few innings but some how battled and kept the team and himself in the game, if this is last year with Contreras I think that game could have got ugly very quickly but he seems to be maturing more and more. Also what can you really say about the pen, Damaso looked exceptional as did Viz and Hermy, fantastic job by those guys.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I think they just might mean faster. No, they mean if his game wasn't based around his speed then he would have played.
