  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 5, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Alright let's say that's your plan...where do you go BMac? Not cricizing, just asking. Does he sometimes get the 8th? 7th into 8th? I'm still unsure what the hell to do with Politte.... I was going to say bmac in the 7th once he gets himself back together. I just believe that Neal and Bobby our are two best guys and they should have the 8th and 9th.
  2. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) then establish the rest of your roles from there. Right now we've played a month and there are zero roles in this pen besides Man Soo Lee. This right here imo is the most important thing. Establish some roles in the pen. To be honest, I think it should be real easy for the 8th and 9th innings. Go Neal to Bobby, your two best relievers in the last two innings no matter what. From there establish roles for the other relievers. Like Brian said before, there is a human element to this game and I think that when a guy knows his role, he'll be more comfortable and because of that, more successful.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) I was at work watching the game, and I was thinking, "God Soxtalk has to be ugly tonight....." I'm surprised it isn't uglier to be honest. This is one of those games that hurt like crazy as a fan. I feel like throwing up right now and I'm not usually a person who goes nuts after a loss. Tonight just feels bad.
  4. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Plus, you need to make your calls before the result takes place. Had Thornton went 1-2-3 with 3 k's, i still would have disagreed with the call. Hindsight's 20/20. Unless we have a closer by committe, give the ball to Jenks in the 9th. The one exception i would make is that if there is a NASTY (read: Hafner, etc) lefty leading off the inning, i'd led COTTS face him to start off the inning. Otherwise, quit screwing around. Finally, there is a difference between blaming a loss on someone and criticizing someone. Just because the loss isn't 100% on Ozzie doesn't mean one can't criticize. That's like saying "we won the game, so the manager must have made all the right moves." Well that's the thing, like I've said many times already, this loss is not on Ozzie at all. I'm just tired of him f***ing around in the 9th inning, it's frusterating as f***.
  5. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Just curious, has Ozzie deemed Jenks the "closer" this year? He's said something to that effect in spring training.
  6. One person I'm not blaming for this is Matt. He did his job and he's been pretty solid, he just shouldn't have been out there in the 9th, he's not a closer.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) and if Thornton could have gotten an out or two, everyone would have been saying that was the right call. This isn't true at all. People have been complaining about this for a while now. Hell, go back to the first Cleveland game, Ozzie did the same s*** and got Bobby into a jam that he was able to get out of but people were still pissed off about it. This one is on Bobby cause he was horrible BUT if Ozzie continues to do this s*** in the 9th, he's going to blow a ton of saves for Bobby. Even the best of closers usually allow a baserunner in the 9th and that's why they need a whole inning. If you keep putting your closer into a jam, he's going to blow many more saves.
  8. This loss is on Bobby. That being said, Ozzie does have to stop dicking around in the 9th, enough is enough.
  9. Please be smart here aj, dont roll it over.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) No, it's not. Ozzie has never operated that way and he probably never will. Unless you have Mariano Rivera in your bullpen, there is no, "it's Bobby's, the end." Thornton was throwing gas, there was a left-hander in and Bobby has been pitching some serious innings as of late. There was one runner on...one. Bobby didn't get it done tonight, not Ozzie. And once again, the 9th is muuuuch different from the 8th. Matt did his job in the 8th, Bobby is our closer, he should get the 9th.
  11. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) if iguchi gets on here, do you pinch hit ozuna for thome? LOL. Thanks for the laugh, I needed that.
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) I haven't read through the Jenks inning here, but, it would appear people are blaming both Ozzie as well? Get out of here. Thornton was throwing gas in the 8th, he was left in to get the left-hander out and he couldn't do it. The ball was then given to the closer and he just blew the save, plain and simple. It happens. Luckily, this was his first blown save of the year. He clearly didn't have it, it happens. Better luck tomorrow. Addy, this is not the first time Ozzie has done this crap this year. He keeps using our setup guys in the 9th inning, Matt did his job in the 8th, you go right to him in the 9th, period. This game is Bobby's fault BUT on a whole I'm just tired of Ozzie f***ing around in the 9th. The 9th is Bobby's, the end.
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) You are exactly right. The pitchers did not execute. Nothing wrong with the matchups. Real easy to blame the manager. Bobby sucked tonight and he gets the most blame here but Ozzie has to stop dicking around in the 9th. He keeps bringing Bobby into real difficult situations created by others. No f***ing need for that.
  14. This is bad, horrible, disgusting.
  15. QUOTE(SnB @ May 5, 2006 -> 08:46 PM) jenks is our closer, he should be out on the 9th. ^^^ Matt did his job, no need to pitch him in the 9th. Do your thing Bobby.
  16. I'm kind of expecting not to see Bobby here.
  17. Matt continues to pound the strikezone. 1-2-3.
