Halfway decent game on CBS right now. I'll just say MSU is shooting much better than I thought they would, especially from 3. Still, if IU hits FT's the rest of the way they should win. Unfortunately this year, that's far from a guarantee. EDIT: All things being equal, I think IU should win this game just based on not having ugly-assed shoes!

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) Pick 5 people in this thread and we would have put together a better half. What's even more amazing is they broke their own record set earlier this year! They only had 5 points at halftime on Dec. 1 @ Dayton. Of course they followed that up with 38 in the second half! Scratching my my head how a team can be so bad to score 5 and 4 points in a half, yet their three DI wins are all by more than 10 pts and 2 of the 3 on the road. Perhaps they should warm up better??

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 04:00 PM) Smith already is a very good RB. Now you have two. I assume you are about done at this point right? For the first time in years we have multiple signing day announcements to watch. Who is left out there for OSU? Who are the top guys and what kind of chances do you have? Scout lists Elliott as a soft verbal. Is there any chance Missouri flips him or is anyone else shaky?

For the first time in years we have multiple signing day announcements to watch. There are some rumors we can go to 29 (at 27 now), but I'm not sure how. We have several early enrollees, but I believe only 3 can be back counted to last year. Not sure how they would go to 29, but a couple of guys are coming off injuries and one of the scholly's is for a long snapper, so who knows what they could do. My guess is we may take one more. They are making a run at TE Durham Smythe (down to Michigan, ND and Stanford), they could take a 7th OL in Cameron Hunt, but my guess is he won't want to get into an over-crowded class. And they may have a surprise up their sleeves. The past couple of years, they've pulled in Dennis Northfleet, Willie Henry and Jake Ryan late. All were surprises. Jake Ryan has panned out quite well.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) He's legit good get. Grew up a Buckeye fan but Urban took Elliott instead. Smith and Green is a good RB haul but that class really needed a good WR. You're half right. Needed a really good RB and a really good WR. For a long time thought we were going to get Treadwell, but that went south (pun intended!)

He announced for Michigan about 10 minutes ago. I think he's been a Michigan lean for awhile. FSU tried to get in late. Obviously coaching changes at Tennessee and Auburn didn't hurt. Here is how his ranking breaks down: Scout #1 5-star Rivals #1 5-star ESPN #5 4-star 24/7 #8 4-star 24/7's composite ranking #4 5-star

QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) The problem with that is he made it other people's business. He continued this lie to keep his name in the headlines, and to continue this story. The biggest part of this is when they asked him the biggest tragedy he overcame, and after knowing his GF was fake, he referred to that story. Not his grandma dying, but continuing this story because people were eating it up. That being said, i've grown tired of this story. His interviews are bs, they ask him questions, but don't follow up on the questionable answers, every report that comes out contradicts the last... Eventually the true story will come out and then I'll be interested to hear about it, but until I hear different I'll still think of him as a liar, and someone who kept up a bulls*** lie to keep himself in the headlines. I think he kept up the story to keep himself out of the headlines. Think about it. If this story doesn't break, after the NC game he basically goes dark to the media until time for the NFL draft stuff. The story dies a natural death, no pun intended, and he doesn't have to worry about it anymore. His biggest mistake in my mind is after he found out it was a hoax, he didn't have this line ready anytime he was asked. "This has been a really tough year. Right now, rather than discuss it, I'd prefer to focus on football. But I appreciate you asking." If he was smart enough to say that, no one here is accusing him of lying. But again, I say, who cares? None of on here have anything to gain by his situation, unless of course we just prefer to be fascinated by the train wreck. If that's what gives someone enjoyment after it has gone on this long, fine. Whatever makes you happy.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 06:21 AM) So you think nothing in an athlete's personal life is anyone's business? If so, I completely disagree with you. This country already has a problem with accountability and when high-profile celebrities straight-up lie to the American public's face, it only adds fuel to the fire. No one is saying he committed a crime and no one is saying he deserves to go to hell for this. But Manti should man up and admit the whole truth. I get the initial reaction is to lie, but he just looks a bumbling idiot who can't get his story straight right now and the coverup is always worse crime (if and when it finally comes out). That's very much not what I said. But basically, the questions have been asked and answered. Whether you believe him or not, that's your problem, not his. At this point, I don't think the exact details are my business, yours or anyone else's that he doesn't know and have to deal with. I'm not hanging onto his every word looking for inconsistencies, but I believe his story is plausible. He got duped. Why is it necessary to dissect that? Will his misery and problems make you feel better about yourself? If not, then why do you care so much. I for one, believe he got duped and his pain was real. Did he fall into a story he eventually couldn't get out of? Probably so. But again, who cares. It's a moot point now. I can also say this. If you want to grill me about every detail on something that happened years or even months ago, I'm probably going to give you some inconsistencies. I'm probably going to have to go back and review what happened and along the way I will remember details I didn't previously or even didn't remember accurately the first time you asked. Maybe T'eo and I are the only two on earth that are that way? Probably not. It's human nature and can happen to any of us. Why do you think eyewitness testimony is often sketchy? Because the human mind, unless you are Sheldon Cooper, doesn't remember every detail of an occurrence correctly and our minds tend to fill in the blanks for us. We can agree to disagree, that's fine. But I just don't see anything you will gain from worrying so much about what T'eo may have done on a certain night back in the fall or what he may have said to a reporter. Life's too short to worry about such.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) I just wish he would be honest for once. Its clear he is still lying. You dont sit on a phone call for hours at a time with someone who is disguising their voice. You would pick up on this after awhile, its not that difficult. And the fake phone records say there were 100's of these? I mean come on. That would be the most elaborate scheme ever. Just come out with the truth, be honest that it was all bulls*** becuase you are gay, wanted the publicity, whatever so this story can f***ing die. You can then file this away with the gipper and Rudy in Notre Dame fiction folklore. Then again, it's really no one's business. You and everyone else can choose to believe him or not. But he doesn't owe anyone anything.

He did look good. He probably doesn't have enough head movement, but that can be fixed. And if it is true that he had been ill, the less movement the better for him. He didn't need it. And I certainly wouldn't categorize Rosado as running away. There was certainly some element of self-preservation, but I think he was simply trying to find a point of attack and struggled to do so. I give Rosado a lot of credit for hanging in there as long as he did. Many others would have shut it down much sooner.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) It's amazing all the different ways that people try to say someone lied without using those exact words. Not chaing the narrative in order to let the hype grow is pathetic, and I feel bad for someone like Jarvis Jones who really did suffer horrific tragedy in his life and didn't win any awards due to the Te'o hype. I guess I'm different because I don't care. I think I would have been better than T'eo at minimizing the discussion and avoiding the topic, but I'm much older and smarter than I was when I was 22. Not sure how I would have handled it then, except that you're damned right I would have lied/embellished/tailored/etc too! I would today in that situation. I'm not going to stop and announce to the world that I'm a dumb ass and got duped. I'm going to play along (and like I said before, try to get the topic to fade as quickly as possible). I think he felt boxed into a corner and didn't know how to get out. Personally, I think at this point it is all about his personal life and beyond the initial fascination with the story, I could care less about the details.

I hate Wisconsin because they drain the damned shot clock down to the end and then end up hitting what seems like wild ass shots. Granted, its not always like that, it just seems like that. I watch them and think they are the luckiest bastards in basketball, but then they keep doing it so it must not be all luck. It just drives me nuts. I wish they would have flip flopped how they played the last two games. IU would have killed them if they played like they did against MSU. But, alas, they currently own Indiana so all I can do is b!tch and complain!

But when you are the returning Heisman Trophy winner, everyone will be looking to bust you, especially if you keep posting that stuff to social media. Texas A&M's Athletic Director sat down with Johny Football and his family after those things and explained the responsibility he now has and how life will be different. Basically told him all eyes are on him and he needed to show responsibility and respect for the Heisman fraternity. We shall see if that helped.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 20, 2013 -> 06:53 AM) Especially with the setting of Hinkle Fieldhouse, that was awesome. Still hard to believe that they both lost to a 1-4 Big Ten team. Yes, but keep in mind Butler played Illinois on the 3rd day in a row after two tough games against Marquette and UNC, while Illinois had easy games against USC and Chaminade. Not saying Illinois wouldn't win under different circumstances but its not tough to figure it affected how Butler played. Give the Illini all the credit for winning fairly easily and for going on the road to Gonzaga.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2013 -> 12:43 PM) If you find out you are being conned why do you specifically talk about your fake girlfriend to the media 4 additional times? Their cover up is so blatant right now it's insulting. Rock, I think I understand. Did T'eo ever bring this up to the media or just answer questions when asked? If that's the case, he either had to go along with it or admit he was a dumb ass. Perhaps he could have replied something to the effect "let's just say it has been a very tough year and I'd prefer to talk about football and the upcoming game at this point"? But how many young people are media savvy enough to come up with that? I think once the story was out and he found out he was duped, he felt he had to go along. Has he done any in-depth interviews on the subject between the time he found out and now? Could he have been playing along in hopes to more easily find out what happened? Or was this an asked and answered type situation and he didn't know what else to say? My guess is he wasn't walking up to reporters on media day and saying "Hey, interview me, I'd like to talk about the dead people in my life". I don't have the answers, but I can certainly understand the why to your question.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) The biggest problem so far is playing with way too much energy and out of control. If Crean can calm that down at half, IU should be fine. Or at least I hope so. I agree they have seemed to be playing about a half step too fast. But Ryan said it best. They are taking away the other players, exposing them to Zeller. If they pack it in against Zeller and IU hits shots, which they normally do in Bloomington, they could get blown out. "Letting" Cody go off, might be the best plan for UW. Watford is the wild card. If he shows up for the 2nd half, he's a tough matchup and can change their approach. It doesn't help that Sheehey, who has shot very well all year is cold and shooting tentatively. They will let Yogi shoot and try to bottle up Hulls all night.
