  1. QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 11:02 PM) Yup, sure cherry picked that 24 point margin. Seriously? Zeller runs the break as well as any big man in college basketball. This win is what I was hoping for, but not necessarily expecting. Hollowell continues to look terrible; I'm hoping he'll look a lot better when he can just go in at the 3 instead of trying to play the 4 or even the 5. Hollowell will be fine... next year. The skills are there. Right now the game is too fast for him to stay under control. I see his minutes dwindling when Perea and Elston are back. Would not shock me if he doesn't handle it well and transfers when staring at what's coming in next year. Not predicting that, but it wouldn't surprise me. Time will tell.
  2. Hollowell not quite ready for prime time. Perea and Elston will take his minutes come conference play.
  3. I'd like to see Cody break out the 12-15' jump shot tonight.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) Feels good to be confident about Michigan basketball. Michigan looks very good. Jordan Morgan, aside from overall health, seems to me to be the key to their season.
  5. QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 26, 2012 -> 02:36 PM) Kinda both. I think he was rated as about the 10th overall PG in his class, but I'm not sure he was expected to be this good of a shooter. Hulls was also Indiana Mr. Basketball. That doesn't guarantee college success, but he's kind of the typical kid who is not tall and overly athletic. His first year he turned the ball over a lot, could play no defense and could only take open 3's off a pass. He's gotten better and better each year, improving his shooting, his ability to get the shot off quickly, drives into the lane and finishes occasionally (still not a huge strength, but you have to defend him), turns the ball over less, plays decent defense and is a solid leader. He's earned it through hard work, not being the most athletic guy around. Gritty is a good word to describe him.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 06:53 PM) Lol, whatever buddy. "Choose" your preference if it makes you feel any better. Frankly if you are this upset about a non-televised celebration of a former team for the home audience then its your prerogative. For me, yesterday was bliss. Perfect record after going through hell last year, showing dominance over Michigan once again, and everything is looking up. Now on to bball. I missed the dominance part, but whatever.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 07:00 PM) I was being sarcastic. He's good. It would be nice if he was 4-5" taller, played better defense while still shooting like he does. Joking aside, I think Yogi Ferrell has had a positive effect on him. I've seen much better passing from him this season. Hulls has been fun to watch grow into the player he has. He's gotten noticeably better every year, adding to his game. He's just limited by his size and speed.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) He's shooting .541 coming into today which is good for just outside the top 100 in the country. And how many of those are guards who shoot at least 50% of their shots from behind the 3 pt line? Not that I am looking for perspective in a stat that means nothing....
  9. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) Indiana's offense is just stupid. Has Jordan Hulls ever missed? Yes... Let's hope he doesn't Tuesday night though.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 05:28 PM) Alabama scores plenty, but ND is giving up an average of 11 points per game so a line of 10 points is ridiculous. Oklahoma, USC, and Michigan are all pretty potent offenses that couldn't manage more than 13 points against ND. I'm not sure I would include Michigan in that group. Their offense was potent against teams with average athletes and average defenses only.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) They actually honored the 10 year anniversary of the 2002 title team, and they lifted up the Vest. The celebration wasn't for you anyway. And as a Michigan fan, I'd expect hate from you. I would think that as a fan of any team, even if it was mine. Tressel should not have been invited, plain and simple. There were fans in the stands with love for Tresel. But your stance just validates my point. It's either complete delusion or stupidity, from the president and AD on down, choose whichever you prefer.
  12. Am I the only one that noticed that OSU yesterday was honoring and celebrating Jim Tressel yesterday? You know the guy that kept this 12-0 team from having a chance to play for the NC or even a bowl? How is it OSU fans can honor a guy who basically brought shame to the school? Or are they just so delusional they don't think they cheated and he lied? And to also allow cheater Maurice Clarett to come back and be honored? I'm sorry Rock, but that has to be the dumbest mentality I've seen from a fan base. OSU deserves everthing they get. I'm sure there are a few level headed fans, but all I could think about yesterday was "what a bunch of dumbassed OSU fans!"
  13. Krush, just for you! Two non-IU things (Soxbadger feel free to skip this post) 1. Nice game by Illinois tonight. I didn't see the whole game as I was watching Michigan - Pitt early. I don't know enough about Illinois depth and long term prospects (this year) but they looked impressive, especially taking into account a new coach and last year's mess. 2. Rock, how in the hell did Matta not offer Trey Burke? He played for Sullinger's dad! Who did they recruit instead?
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 06:20 PM) People would talk about Wisconsin if I said asinine things like: "Wisconsin is the only reason the big 10 has been in the spotlight the last 10 years." If you want to have smug and arrogant attitudes, expect that people are going to call you out on the nonsense. No one here said that dumbarse! The fact is that IU has added spotlight to the Big Ten the last two years (last season and this season) starting with beating Kentucky last December. Are they the sole reason for the focus on the Big Ten? No. But have they brought more attention to it from that point than they would have if they were still a bottom dweller? Absolutely. Again, if IU was so unimportant, you'd be ignoring the few of us here that post. It's not like we're a loud voice until we are defending drivel like this. How about we call a truce? You worry about Wisconsin and we'll worry about Indiana. We'll be just fine in our little world without your input as I'm sure you will be.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) I dont hold onto any hope that Indiana will be bad. I want Indiana to be good so that the Big 10 is respected. As for the bolded what are you talking about? Indiana didnt even win the Big 10 last year, they didnt win the Big 10 the year before. Can you quit acting like Indiana has actually done something recently in the Big10. Its the arrogance that annoys me. You want to be arrogant like Crean, expect people to call you on your bulls***. Why would I be upset about Indiana? They wanted to pay me to go to their school, they were nothing but nice to me. Its fans like you who annoy me, win games and then brag. You act like your MSU or OSU, youre not. Im not talking about whether Indiana will win the next 100 big 10 titles, thats the future. If that happens Crean and Indiana fans can crow all day long about how great they are. But as it stands now, Indiana hasnt done jack in almost a decade. Those are the facts, get over yourself. From what I can recall, not one Indiana fan has come on this board talking smack and being arrogant at all, unless responding to crap posted by you and others. If Indiana is so bad, why do you spend so much time worrying about them and their coach? Yes, I know its a message board. But I think the telling sign here is you and others seem to be fascinated by how well or bad Indiana is and must point out the bad any time anyone shows pride, be it a fan or coach. On the other hand, most IU fans respect Bo Ryan and Wisconsin, but could give a sh*t less about what goes on there. We know that when IU is right, we'll stand taller than Wisky most years. And before you go off half-cocked at that comment. Think about it, it's true. Wisky has a very good program and Dick Bennett and Bo Ryan are to be commended for keeping it strong. But there is no way Wisconsin could have withstood all the crap IU went through with Sampson. It would have been a decade or more before Wisconsin would have sniffed the top half of the Big Ten. Lastly, I don't understand where you think most IU fan's expectations lie. I would ask other IU fans on here to agree or disagree with me, but I see Indiana as a top basketball program that should be knocking on the door of the Final Four most years. What I mean is the standard for IU should be the Sweet Sixteen. If we don't get there, its a disappointing season. Get there regularly, then the chances for Final Fours and Championships will take care of themselves. IU fans know the big Ten is a damned good conference and even conference championships are not assumed. But we feel we should be "in the mix" regularly. I just don't see how these expectations are so offensive to other schools. IU is a legit top 5 or 10 "program". Has it been lately? No. But few schools nationally have the combination of tradition and dedicated fan base IU has. Certain programs have earned that status whether it be over the last 20-30-40-50+ years. IU is one and can withstand a down period more easily than others. He_Gawn? Farmteam? Am I wrong here?
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) Yeah, thats yet to be seen. ALso, if you make that much money, why cant he get a decent suit/shirt combo? Nothing he has actually fits. He should ask Izzo or Saban where they gets their suits made LOL My girlfriend last year kept swearing she was going to buy and send him a new tie. A new haircut wouldn't hurt either.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 06:52 AM) I don't know how to put a dollar amount on it, but the guarantee of 5 TV games against ND every two years is definitely worth something. It is if the conference survives. ND will be in a conference within 5 years. Which one remains to be seen.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 07:32 AM) Did anyone else on Grinnell College's roster attempt a shot besides Jack Taylor? The rest of the team scored 41 more points, I believe. I think the final was 179-104.
  19. That's not true at all. It took him 3 years to get that talent. It's been there and been going to other schools. Indiana has always had top talent. I do agree that his core needs to be kids from Indiana, but he'll always need to pull well from out of state. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:47 PM) Ha that is pretty laughable. Post Knight IU has been a pretty poor basketball program so that allure is long gone. They were very lucky to have top tier in-state talent at the right time or they could have been waiting a while longer to get a team like this. Now that the program is respectable again they might be able to get a few out of state kids, but IU is going to live or die on in-state talent. That can win them some things if they can get all those kids.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) I really dislike Crean. I cant even name another coach that compares. I can see how you would not like him. I can also see why he takes the stance that he takes. He's had to do whatever he could to bring back the tradition and expectations so he plays the "It's Indiana" card. Keep in mind he also had a very fractured fan base and part of this has been gaining them back so he's playing up to them in a way. I suspect if he would have become IU's coach following Knight (assuming Knight had made a proper exit and not blown up) his approach would have been different. I can't tell you whether he is a nice guy or a douchebag. But his passion and energy is real. He's definitely going to be one of those guys other team's hate. But he's going to be a guy IU fans love.
  21. How it is even possible to shoot 2.7 shots per minute for the whole game?? One player, not a team.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:23 PM) I watched the entire game. As I said, whether you think it was good reffing, bad reffing or indifferent, when you are facing multiple guys fouling out, you arent going to win many games that get extended. Georgetown isnt that deep, they needed to steal a win in regulation. No argument there. I thought the same exact thing at the time. Was afraid we were going to get beat by at 3.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:20 PM) Good reffing, bad reffing, when you have multiple guys on the brink of fouling out, you just go for the win and call it a day. Strangely enough, I thought Georgetown got away with a ton of fouls in the first half and first part of the 2nd. May have just been the way it seemed because of the Hoyas length, but they reached in and deflected the ball a lot. The difference in FT's has everything to do with style of play and Georgetown fouling to put IU on the line.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:08 PM) Georgetown should have gone for the win in regulation. You arent going to win many games when you have 20 less free throws. Numbers are deceiving. Only 8 fouls difference between the two teams as of 39.4 seconds to go. And G'town has fouled at least 3-4 times to put IU on the line. IU played a lot of zone in the first half. No shooting fouls as a result as G'town shot a bunch of 3's and didn't drive to the bucket. But I do agree, they should have gone for the win.
