  1. Won't his next start be against Detroit??
  2. You and everyone else. I remember him being the man in a few fantasy drafts. Its too bad he never reached his potential. He was a freakin stud in this league........ overshadowed Tejada... I have a ball signed by both Grieve and Tejada....... I wanted two separate balls, but when i got the one, I was disappointed Tejada was on the same ball as Grieve...... What an idiot I turned out to be. LOL
  3. I think Cotts will settle into a 6 or 7 inning guy this year.......
  4. While we are eating crow........ the one guy I misjudged was Ben Grieve..... After seeing him come through this league, I thought he would be an absolute stud!
  5. The point is he can pitch out of trouble. Thats a great sign. Did I forget to mention that a long time ago? LOL You did, but as you know, there is a WORLD of difference doing it on the major league level. Yeah, I have seen a Major League game or two.... Where at? WHat do you do for a living anyway? Ive seen games in 12 or 13 Major League parks....... some when i was actually paying attention, others when drinking and socializing were the most important aspect..... I am in advertising sales.............

  8. Thanks Bmr for coming to your senses..... LOL I will be honest with you that Cottsy struggle big time tonight. I watched his whole outing and he was not himself at all. Actually, he pitched like he did early in the year, always escaping trouble. I expect us to see better from him, but don't get your panties in a wad if he has a bad outing here or there, like any other pitcher is susceptible of.
  9. Funny thing.......... I didn't think JM should have let Neal come out for the 6th in his last outing, but this time, I didn't have a problem with it at all.
  10. Rusty had a nice run of six years with Texas.... He averaged .307 17 HR and 87 RBI from 1995 through 2000. If Jeremy Reed can give us that kind of production, I think Sox fans should be damned happy.
  11. The trade was announced with Hummel as a PTBNL because Hummel has to clear waivers before the trade can be completed.
  12. Not sure where you get your numbers, but Hummel has played 97 games at 3B, 30 at SS and 6 at 2B. I do think he can play 2B as well as 3B, but he is likely more of a utility guy over the long haul.
  13. Probably pretty reliable...... Except for their listing of Hummel's stats..
  14. This doesn't really apply because Charlotte will either be in the playoffs (doubtful) or their season will be over after Sept. 1. If they make the playoffs, look for call ups to be delayed. My guess is that you will see Hummel, Burke or Riviera, and maybe one or two more pitchers. Borchard is a possibility, but not a given. I doubt they will bring up a bunch of guys for two reasons. 1. It costs money to bring them up 2. They won't likely get much playing time with the Sox in a pennant race.
  15. Unless I am confused (which is possible) I do not believe there is such a thing as a waiver trade deadline. Trades can be made, but aren't likely since playoff rosters have to be set September 1st.
  16. You mean like Dontrelle Willis?? I get your point and it is valid to a point, but at the same time, you have to be somewhat judicious in who you are willing to give up out of your farm system. If you are always winning to give up your best to "go for it", you better damned well win it, because your system will be dry after that. If you are dealing from depth, you gotta hope you keep the guy that will pan out and trade the guy that doesn't. But yes, sometimes you have to give up a good player, I won't argue with you on that. In this situation, all the speculation in the world doesn't help. We'll just have to wait and see who the Sox gave up.
  17. The Tribune was correct in that it is and has been widely reported that Reed may not be able to handle CF in the Majors. That is not new news and didn't originate with the Trib. I tend to disagree with those reports to a point. Will he be an elite CF? no..... Will he be able to handle CF more than adequately? yes..... Will he make great plays? count on it..... Will he win Gold Gloves and be Andruw Jones-like in covering groung? nope Reed has good, but not great speed. His stolen base numbers this year are a bit deceiving because he is playing on teams that have to be aggressive to score runs. He has been thrown out a lot for the Barons, but that is just the style they play. When he gets to the Big Leagues, with MLB catchers, the reigns will be pulled in some. I'd guess he will end up as a 15-20 SB guy. I would have no qualms putting him in CF at least for the time being. Keep in mind, that as good as he is doing, the comparisons he gets are of Steve Finley, Darrin Erstad, Rusty Greer, etc. Reed at this point should be looked at as a solid OF for the Sox, but not a perennial all-star.
  18. It will not be West and most likely not Wylie. Both are on the DL.
  19. Uggghhh........... I give up on boxscores

  21. I would call it a win for both clubs. Both teams dealt from depth and got what helped them. Oakland got more immediate help, but the Sox got a good catcher which was a position it had no depth.

  23. Something really strange happened in Kannapolis.... 1. Either the Yankees decided to get in an extra game since they played during the day today, and decided to do so while impersonating Kannapolis players... 2.
