Jeremy Reed = Dirtbag
Reed hasn't proven anything to the experts yet. He certainly is doing better than expected (understatement of the year, maybe?) but he has to prove it on the MLB level. Reed will be a solid player, but he doesn't have the pop that a Maggs or a Frank has and won't steal 50 bases. I think he will settle in as a nice player, but let's not anoint him a perennial all-star just yet. Sad thing is, Reed likely will not even win the Southern League MVP award, despite his unbelievable year.

Uh-oh
Two starts in AA, but your point is the same. Honel needs to be in AA next year and could move to AAA or the Majors with a big year, but I think he will go step by step. I have only seen him pitch once, but I have doubts about his fastball. Just not sure it will be enough to make his a top level starter in the Majors. Time will tell...

Uh-oh
I'm guessing they are setting their rotation for the playoffs.

Hummel probably the PTBNL
In my mind, i doubt it. If they feel Cotts is ready to go through a whole season, they will go with him. He has much better long term potential. There is also the question of Stewart's health. If they can't figure out what is wrong with him, he may be done. That said, he could be pitching again in Instructional League. I am not sure of his current status, but last I heard, everything is still a mystery.

I agree...... Josh is way too nice a guy to have his careeer threatened at this point in his life.

Why did Dan Wright get a Save last night?..
Yeah, well there is only a slight difference between the two.....
-
Rotation changed.....
Mark Buehrle, who coasted to the victory in Saturday night's 13-2 rout of Texas, will be pushed back in the rotation to Friday at Detroit to give him an extra day's rest. Rookie Neal Cotts, who won his first big-league game Friday night, will get the call for Thursday's game against the Yankees. Sox manager Jerry Manuel said Buehrle was feeling all right Saturday, "but not quite like he would like to feel. At this time of the year, if we have an opportunity to give him an extra day, we can probably take advantage of that." Manuel Prescribes Rest Day for Buehrle

$6 - $8 which is typical for the Minor Leagues....... some teams may have some higher priced tickets and some may have some lower, but that is a good range. Minor League baseball is built on affordability for families.

Kannapolis didn't look to draw too much. They were probably 200 people for one of the games I saw. The 2nd was rained out and they looked to get more like 2000 that night. There is a big variation in crowd size depending on whether there is a giveaway and what day of the week it is. The Knights have drawn pretty well at times this year, but they are dead last in the IL or at least they were a while ago in attendance. Still they get around 5000 a game. Warthogs drew very good the two games i was at. Both games were around 3000 people and the fans were in the games. Yeah, the day of the week makes a huge difference...... For instance, last weekend in Birmingham, the Barons had somwehere around 6,000 on Friday night, 10,000 on Saturday night, 3,000 on Sunday night and barely 1,000 on Monday night. Mondays usually blow. Attendance also falls off big time in mid-week games after school starts. The Barons do 25-cent hot dogs on Tuesdays and $1 beers on Thursdays, so they do better on those nights than Mondays or Wednesdays. There have been Mondays or Wednesdays where you can practically count the fans one by one.
-

That varies from city to city....... The Barons average between 4,000-5,000. Yet some nights are only 1,000-2,000 while others are 7,000-10,000. I know Kane County up near Chicago draws real well (6,000-7,000 a night, I believe). As a general rule, AAA teams are more well attended than AA teams, and so on... There are definite exceptions, like Kane County, however.

Hummel probably the PTBNL
If that is the case, things could certainly change. I'd probably add someone like Bullard to the roster. He has always been able to throw innings, and this year since he moved to the pen he didn't throw near as many innings. Just a thought. As you all can tell, I'm not a big fan of sending starters to the fall league unless they missed part of the season early on do to injury and you want to even out their workload with this. It certainly helped Josh Stewart though.

Neither too high or too low...
Hah....... overreactions are what defines this board. LOL

They plan to teach Cotts a cutter there. My guess is his innings will be limited. Hankins is a great bat and a clutch hitter. The Sox like him and want to find a position.
