How many times shall we go over this?? Stewart is on the DL I repeat....... STEWART IS ON THE DL
  2. I thought Honel was okay tonight.... He never got up to or past 90 mph.. stayed between 87-89 w/ 88 the most common reading........ His fastball was erratic and even though he threw strikes, he didn't command the ball real well within the zone. Curveball has 12-6 break with nasty bite. He didn't throw if for a lot of strikes, however. I didn't see a lot of changeups, but I do remember one that was excellent. Location was good and hitter was way out in front. His results were good and he did a good job of overcoming a tough start, so he gets points there. Overall I would give him a B. Wasn't as polished as I had hoped, but it is only one game.

  5. Robin Ventura's rookie year (1990) .249 48 R 17 2B 5 HR 54 RBI 55 BB 53 K Joe Crede this year to date..... .246 42 R 17 2B 12 HR 51 RBI 27 BB 60 K About the only numbers Robin was better in were BB and K's. Joe still has a month and a half to build on his numbers. Crede is also hitting .349 for the month of August so far. I'm not talking just rookie #'s, but career #'s. Then how do you know he is no Robin Ventura? He hasn't had a "career" yet? ;-) It's kinda hard to be Ventura! Who knows, maybe Joe will be better...

  8. FWIW, I also don't think Pacheco is ready. He is still too inconsistent from inning to inning. He'll go two innings and be untouchable, and then two where he leaves his slider up and his fastball over the middle of the plate. If you stick him in the bullpen, you never know which one you are going to get.
  9. Actually, if he pitches well then we can relax and look toward his 3rd start. Two starts, good or bad still aren't enough to evaluate a pitcher.
  10. Cotts is the 2nd best in the system. Honel is flat out amazing. Behind those two its Wing (Another lefty who impressed the hell out of me when I saw him pitch; also has an amazing pickoff move). I do think that Cotts is going to be very good though. I don't know how anyone can write him off after one game. Jason, did you see Honel this year? I have had some scouts tell me that he hasn't impressed them much this year. Said he topped out at 86 mph a game or two. I have never seen him pitch, so I have nothing to input here. Just wondering if anyone else has seen him, or even better, seen him multiple times?
  11. Everett has seven two-hit games in the first 13 days of August. I'd call that hot. He only hit .241 for the month of July with the Sox and is now at .302 overall with Chicago, so he has heated up big time.
  12. Yeah, we've lost 3 in a row...... Odds are we won't lose a 4th. The law of averages has to work for you at some point.
  13. I understand and agree with your premise that Rowand deserves the opportunity to play more, however, I don't think now is the time. The Sox made the trade for Rowand right as he was getting hot. I do believe that if Rowand played everyday from mid-July to the end of the season you would have seen similar numbers as what Everett will give us therefore I still don't like the Everett trade. However, the trade was made and I respect the reasons for which it was made so they need to stick with that decision. I agree that Rowand could get more looks against LH's, but they went out and paid a steep price for Everett, so they have to play him. Konerko is on fire right now (he hit .342 in July and tied for the AL Lead in RBI and is hitting .342 as well, at this point in August. He needs to play. Rowand hit .375 in June, .433 in July and is hitting .333 in limited time in August. Between June 21 and July 21 when he ws getting more regular playing time, he hit .381. Would he have stayed this hot? Of course not... But could he have hit .280 with 5-6 HR and 30 RBI from the end of July on? I think so. The bottom line is I do believe Aaron Rowand can play everyday. I think he would be a solid, but not great player. Should he play a lot more right now, probably not. The Sox made their choice to go with Everett and they should stick with that choice, giving Rowand an occasional start here and there.
  14. Nice!!! Someone on here remembers Corey Jenkins....actually Rex, he was our QB last year, and is now 2nd string MLB for the Miami Dolphins!! Go check nfl.com and look on the DOlphins page....Coaches have been raving about him, he is a great athlete I just remember him because he played about a month for the Barons. He was traded to the Sox from Boston by Chris Snopek, IIRC.
  15. Hey capn12, off subject here.... Do the Gamecocks still have a former Birmingham Baron at QB? Has Corey Jenkins graduated?
  16. it has nothing to do with you not being on the Neal Cotts bandwagon. You just don't get it.
  17. Probably Charlotte to take the place of Adkins.
  18. No, he's not going to turn down the chance to start in the big leagues. If they asked me, I'd do it, although I've thrown 3 ineffective innings my whole life. If I were to walk as many guys as he did, I wouldn't expect love just because it was my debut. Let's look at it from another perspective. Suppose this is a hitter making his debut. What if he's 0-4, with 7 LOB. I'd be pissed. I would hope that no one would say it's ok to K with the sacks packed with Sox because it's his first game, or if he rolled two to end the inning. It's the same thing. Based on that post, it is obvious you know little about the game of baseball. Comments like that show how some fans are completely uneducated in how the game works. I'm personally insulted and offended. For reals. What part says I don't know anything about baseball? Sox talk is a really cool website. But i've noticed in here that if u disagree with certain people they go off and start callin people names. I respect all opinions. Doesn't mean I agree. But I can listen to all points of view. For those who can't I say f*** em :fyou Listening to differing points of view is easy if they are backed with logic and maturity. Starting a thread titled f*** Neal Cotts does neither. Nor does assuming a guy is not ready for the big leagues based on one bad outing, especially when you haven't seen it. Make a case for your argument and back it up with fact and I will respect your opinions all day. I'll argue mine right with you, but if you want to go toe-to-toe, be able to state your case. So far, you haven't done any of that. My apologies if you can't see that. Well If u were paying attention I admitted I was a lil harsh with the 'f*** COTTS" Thread. I started this thread to explain myself and obviously u still don't get it. I made last nights comments outta annoyance of all the Neal Cotts ass kissin that was goin on last night. I wanted to talk about somethin else besides Cotts. Mainly Dan Wright... That's my point. All credibility was lost at that point. To futher things, you go on to talk about how you know he is not ready, yet you haven't seen him pitch. It is not possible for you to know that after one outing. So again, make argument with solid reasoning and whether I agree with it or not, I'll have no problem with it. I'm done with this conversation. It has gone on too long and shouldn't have merited the venom I have spewed forth. I hope you can look past my rant calling you an idiot and realize that there is truth to what I said about overreacting. You still have a lot to learn about the game and I shall not apologize for saying that. I'm out..... on to more positive issues Sorry Bob Costas. I'm more than confident with my knowledge about the game of baseball. I think u need to take the Neal Cotts dildo outta your ass.... Another example of that maturity you so proudly display.

  21. I did not get hyped AT ALL about him making a start. Personally, I'm ALL ABOUT the Major Leagues. I don't pay attention to any of the minor leagues. I don't read reports that any of you write, nor do I look at the box scores that are posted. I had no clue what Cotts' numbers were. I don't pay attention to Joe Borchard (what's he done) , and never thought anything of Joe Crede until he got here. I also do not pay attention to Jon Rauch (hasn't helped out this team yet). The point I'm trying to make is I don't care about "prospect". I like the White Sox, and couldn't cre less if the Intimidators won their division or took last. The reason for all these guys is that maybe someday they'll help the Chicago White Sox. But until they do so, it doesn't matter. Sorry for ranting, but this is just how I feel. I respect those who do like the minor leagues, because that shows you are very passionate about this organizatioon. Whether you care about the minors or not makes no difference. But to crucify a guy over one outing or as in the example you wrote, a guy goes 0-4 with 7 LOB in his debut you'd get pissed is assinine. Baseball is a long season and players are judged by how they do over the long haul, not how they are in one game. If a guy goes 0-4 you pat him on the back and say "get them tomorrow". If a guy does what Cotts did, you say 'here's the ball, go get em". A guy wouldn't be in that position if he had no earned it. To think with such tunnel vision of getting hyped or pissed about one game or outing shows a lack of knowledge about the game of baseball. Perhaps someday you will get it.
  22. Hey man. U don't have to agree with a damn thing I said. But callin people names makes u look like the "IDIOT".... If you don't like my reaction, then maybe you should think a little about your own reaction last night when creating that thread.
  23. Typing f*** Neal Cotts said all that needed to be said..... Time to grow up and get a clue.
  24. No, he's not going to turn down the chance to start in the big leagues. If they asked me, I'd do it, although I've thrown 3 ineffective innings my whole life. 25. The only people that got too hyped are the idiots like you who are bashing him now. The title of your thread basically negated anything you said in it because it was assinine. Anybody on here with half a brain should know better than to evaluate any pitcher based on one outing, good or bad. If Cotts threw 7 innings of shutout ball last night he should not have been labeled the "next coming", nor should he be blasted like that. If you haven't seen him then you have no clue whether he belongs there or not. Bart Colon got hammered two nights ago, so does he belong back in AA? Of course not. Neal had a rough night of it last night. Perhaps he isn't ready. But that determination cannot be made from last night. For those of you who talk about all his walks in AA, you obviously don't realize that he had cut his number of walks in the second half by 1.5 per game. That his numbers lately had been much better than early on. I fully expect Neal to get another start and to have a decent, yet not great game. Give him time to acclimate himself before you go off the deep end with baseless comments.
