  1. I still think a couple of alarm clocks hidden in the bat racks, set to go off at game time would work.
  2. Yeah. His longest outing so far had been 3 innings and 13 batters faced.
  3. Smokin some good stuff there Yas??? Stewart was born on December 5, 1978. Played 3 years of college ball at Memphis. Anyway you look at it, the numbers don't add up to 20. Well, you were half right. You got the 2 in the right place. LOL
  4. Don't forget Alfonsea or Borowski, DeJean and Biddle. (Bmr says Biddle sucks so he can't be one of the 20)
  5. Off topic, but the paper here today mentioned Buddy Bell and JIm Fregosi as candidates should the Sox rid of Manuel. I also don't think Nick Leyva should be forgotten about either.
  6. So are you saying in so many words that we should use Paulie as a "late-inning defensive replacement"? Anybody ever think they would see/hear those words? LOL
  7. You talking about Kohlmeier?
  8. Yofu and Kohlmeier will start until starters get healthy. Right now, you have Stewart, Cotts, Malone, and Ulacia all on the DL. Did I miss anyone at AAA?
  9. Floyd is a righty, not a lefty and there is NO way Philly trades him. That would be like the Sox trading Honel (and Floyd is rated higher) or Borchard right after he came off his good year in Birmingham. You don't trade the future.
  10. That is your opinion , I have mine, Clemens /Wood does nothing for me, has nothing to do with Sox, this was Clemens 3rd try at 300 ...yawn.....and Wood has barely been a .500 pitcher. Then your scope of baseball knowledge is way too narrow. Anytime a guy is going for 300 wins is huge and to be doing so at Wrigley where the Yankees hadn't played since 1938 and against a fellow Texas pitcher, not to mention the young vs. old plotlines makes for great baseball. If you didn't watch, then you have no clue how this game played out. If you don't care, then get the hell off this thread and go back to your narrow view of the game, however sad it is. Because my opinion on game does not agree with yours is no reason to get personal, 2 people can disagree without questioning someone's scope of baseball knowledge. Sorry, if you can't see that matchup today as a great one, then I certainly question your baseball knowledge and your understanding of its history. If that is considered getting personal, then so be it. If you aren't interested in it, fine. If you can't see the significance of it that tells me all I need to know.
  11. Sammy appealed, which is routine. He'll likely repeal his suspension when it best serves his team. That my friends, is how the system works.

  13. I believe the deal on the table was Gagne for Howry....and KW got a little greedy and asked Evans for a prospect....and Evans pulled out. The rest is history. Also....I believe it was in the offseason before 2002. So you could say that Evans was a smart GM by not caving to KW's demands??? Oh, sorry, that was another thread.
  14. Bullard said it all. I heard nothing more than inflammation with Cotts and that he should only miss 1 start. O'Neal and Purvis both pitched in relief of Yofu tonight and got rocked. Barons lost first game 13-4. Won second game 7-0 behind combined shutout from Wylie, Bajaneru and Ring.
  15. You're nuts. If your hatred for the Cubs clouds your judgement that much, then you need to take off the silver and black glasses. That was one great baseball game on a great stage, with history on the line. The only bad things about that game were Choi's injury and the stupid ass superimposed ads that Fox placed on the brick wall behind home plate.
  16. Wow, Remlinger struck out Giambi with a full count and the bases loaded on a changeup!
  17. Wood is still throwing 96-97 in the 8th, although he is laboring. He just walked Jeter to load the bases with 2 outs and is coming back. Can the Cubs bullpen fare better than the Yanks?
  18. Bad thing is, I was taping it, hoping to add Clemens #300 to Nolan Ryan's 300 in my collection.
  19. Choi gets hurt, Clemens comes out, Karrons hits 3-run bomb. 3-1 Cubs. #300 will have to wait.
  20. Everything I have ever heard said they both wanted out for one......... and two, they couldn't afford their salaries as bench players. I agree about the financial aspect of it and they wanted to move Grudzelanek so Thurson could play (Good prospect LA has). Of course salary wise the move will save them something like 2 million over the long haul. The thing is the Dodgers gave up a lot of offense as both mark and Erric when healthy are very solid offensive players. This is all in hindsight though, but I know I thought it was a very strange move at the time. I don't know if he could of done better, but I think he could of probably trade those two for someone more serviceable then Hundley. Perhaps so, but wasn't Hundley's success in LA? Somtimes you think a guy will suceed if you put him back into a situation where he has been comfortable and had success. A gamble yes, and it looks like not a good one at this point, but a lot goes into a trade and the reasons behind it.
  21. Twice. On the check swing and then on the 2-2 curveball. This has been one hell of a game and has lived up to the hype in my mind. I was somewhat surprised that Wood didn't fall apart after the Choi injury.
  22. Everything I have ever heard said they both wanted out for one......... and two, they couldn't afford their salaries as bench players.
  23. I heard that, and that is very good. When his head hit the ground, it looked ugly immediatley.
  24. I stand corrected. He was at W-S last year and not this year. Rex, is his salary based on June 16th or 17 till the end of the year or does he help out as kind of a roving instructor before that or spend time in Arizona? I have no idea how they are paid, but I would think that Minor League coaches salaries are based on the year. Since he was at full season W-S the last couple of years, I wouldn't think he would go back to "rookie-ball" pay.
  25. I stand corrected. He was at W-S last year and not this year.
