Zeller and Washington won setting up the matchup with Kuric. The game is at Washington, which should be a huge advantage for the Hatchets. Washington is 20-2 and Memorial is 21-1. Game time 7:00 (central) tonight.

The matchup between Kyle Kuric and Ty Zeller is halfway to reality. Kuric's Memorial Tigers beat #10 Charlestown this morning 64-50. Zeller's #4 Washington Hatchets are about to tip off against #2 Edgewood. The winners will play tonight! That's a pretty tough regional (still two levels to go to win state) having the #1, 2, 4 and 10 teams.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) I thought Asiah going home was a mistake. But good thing Danny Noriega is GONE!!!! I don't think Asia'h was a bad move. Aside from Amanda, who I don't really care for, I thought the others belonged there.

QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) I see that he is listing Memphis, Indiana, Rutgers, & Texas as his final four for now. He does state that he may add another, but isn't expecting to. He mentions that Memphis is making a strong late run at him, and that Texas is "wing freindly". Rutgers has been there all along with IU before he originally committed. I take it that there are no rules about contacting recruits that are signed to an LOI with another school? I was just wondering how Memphis could be recruiting him while he is still under his LOI from IU? Guess there are no tampering rules?

Soxtalk's Biggest Loser Club
Shocker this week for me. Weighed in this morning hoping not to see me go back over 340 and much to my surprise I came in at 337, down 2 pounds this week. I really only half-assed the diet this week, eating pizza twice so I was really hoping to just break even. I'll certainly take it. I've got a nice bit of momentum going. If only I could find a way to fit in exercise, I'd be in really good shape. So far I am down 25 pounds with no real exercise. The next three weeks will be tough for me in that regard. My parents are visiting this weekend, next weekend is my birthday and the following is the 1st & 2nd round of the NCAA Tourney. Won't be any real extra time on the weekends.

Not been a good week this week and not looking forward to the weigh-in tomorrow morning. I'm hoping like hell to have broken even this week.

Ebanks has been very consistent in that he is playing a game of wait and see with IU. He still loves IU but plans to wait to see what happens before making a final decision. He has also been very honest in that he will talk to a few select schools (he did not name them) to ensure he has a backup plan should he not feel the IU situation is for him. He was clear that IU will still be every change when a new coach is named. The key is how long will he wait? If we do not have a coach for another 4-6 weeks, which is almost a given, will he get impatient? My guess is yes. Dakich and Ray McCallum have already come to NY to watch him play and visit with him. He indicated he was impressed with them, but in the end, it won't matter until a new coach is named. Guess you could consider that a decommit.

Jason, I think you and I are the only ones that watch. Which is sad, because this season has surpassed all of my expectations so far. I figured they would drag out another few episodes and end it. I am not holding my breath, but I'd love to see another season ordered. Does anyone know where to check to see what kind of ratings it has gotten this year?

The game today reminded me of the Xavier game early on. They constantly got beat up the floor on defense and gave up way too many easy shots. They'd either give up a layup/dunk or rush to get back to stop it that they would leave a shooter wide open for a three. There were two moments I thought IU could have gotten back into the game. Jordan Crawford's missed dunk in the first half which would have put them down only 9 and given them serious momentum. The second was with about 10 minutes left in the 2nd half when they buried two consecutive threes and got a quick turnover and then Gordon turned the ball right back over trying to force it into the lane. That would have put IU within 15 with 10 minutes to go. Both times MSU came right back with a basket and buried any potential momentum gained. Would have been a long uphill climb either way, but if they were going to come back those were their only two chances.

Too Hot To Fly!
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) At the same time, these girls are telling people that they are the best looking girls on a flight and that this is the reason that they were kicked off of the flight. IMO, they set themselves up to be judged with their egos. The practice I was referring to certainly isn't limited to these two girls.

Too Hot To Fly!
Here is my take on the situation.......... Tampa, Florida – Prejudice against pretty? That's the claim from a pair of 18-year-old best friends from Oldsmar who were escorted off a Southwest Airlines plane. USF student Nisreen Swedberg and friend Sarah Williams claim the flight crew was rude to them from the moment they stepped onto the plane at Tampa International Airport on February 14. Swedberg said she asked a flight attendant for a bottle of water and was told she could wait until the rest of the flight was served. More than likely the flight attendant told her as soon as they got the plane boarded they would provide refreshment service and would be with her shortly. “And I patiently waited and then when they came around with water, they skipped me,” Swedberg said. Either she was asleep and not paying attention, there was no water on the cart and the flight attendant had to go get more after her run or the girl was a total b**** in how she asked for it (demanded it perhaps?) when she first got on the plane. At one point, Williams had to use the plane's bathroom. She saw another passenger in it, and when he hadn't come out 15 minutes later, she knocked on the door. And likely said through the door "Are you going to be in their all day? or some other smart-assed comment When he came out, Williams says the man came over to her seat and yelled a profanity at her. Williams admits she yelled a profanity back at him but was puzzled when she says the flight crew only questioned her. He likely spoke down to her for being rude and either told her to wait her damned turn or responded with profanity after she smarted back to him. It sounds to me like they were a couple of young girls thinking they owned the world and didn't know how or weren't willing to treat others with respect. “I think they were just discriminating against because we were young decent-looking girls. I mean, nobody else on the plane looked like us except us,” she said. “[The flight attendants] were like older ladies. We were younger. Who knows, they could have been just jealous of us because we were younger.” Or pissed that they were acting like smart-assed teenagers who think they are hot stuff. When I was 15 I knew everything. When I was 18-21 I was totally self-absorbed. It didn't take long after I grew older that I actually didn't know s*** about how the world works and about people. It is called maturing. Southwest defends the incident, saying the women caused a disruption on the flight. As would I When the plane landed in Los Angeles, the women were escorted off by four uniformed police officers and later questioned by the FBI. Nearly two hours later, the women were released. No charges were filed. Still, Williams and Swedberg say they were banned from all future Southwest Airlines flights, including their scheduled flight home to Tampa. Swedberg spent $419.50 on a one-way return ticket and arrived at TIA on Monday. Williams is still in Los Angeles trying to find a cheaper flight home. She hopes to be back to Tampa by Saturday. Too Hot To Fly!
The problem is trying to judge any girl based on one photo. Photos don't always tell the whole story or sometimes even tell the wrong one. Some girls aren't very photogenic. Sometimes the light isn't good. Sometimes their makeup looks like crap that day or the light makes it look worse than it actually is. Some girls are incredibly hot because of how they carry themselves. The idea of looking at one picture and judging is ridiculous if you expect accuracy. I've seen girls not look great in a picture be extremely attractive and vice versa. But then again, the internet is a breeding ground for guys judging women harshly. The same girl a guy types about needing a six pack or calls her ugly, is the same girl he is turning his head for in real life. Just the nature of the beast (no pun intended) I guess.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) Pretty nervous about today's game at Michigan State; IU hasn't won there since 1991. A loss, and we kill any chance at sharing the Big Ten title. The Big Ten title would be really nice, but to me ensuring we have no more than one loss the rest of the way is what will set us up for an NCAA run. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to win out, but I don't want to lose today and in the B10 Tournament. So you tell me, which is better or is there much of a difference when looking at the big picture? Sharing the B10 title or winning the B10 Tournament and being on a roll going into the Big Dance?

Good week this time.. After two bad weeks (-1 and +3), I dropped 7 pounds this week. And aside from a few little things I am doing at home, I have not started the exercise part of my plan. That needs to happen soon.

American Idol - Season 7
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) I didn't see the show Tues or Wed, but Danny Noreiga is DEFINITELY this year's Sanjaya, although probably more talented. As far as the crying, you know, I can't fault these kids. They are living a dream, and it gets shattered all at once. It's pretty emotional. I was referring to all of the others crying when someone gets kicked, not the person leaving. I can see a girl like Alaina being overcome with emotion (especially since she got hosed tonight). But last week, 3/4 of the girls were bawling when the first girl was let go. Please don't tell me Danny Noriega is gonna be around that long? I can't stand him. I thought both girls that went home tonight were better than some of the other girls. Amanda, the Joplin wanna be with the god knows what hair, just irritates the s*** out of me. She took a great song last night and butchered the hell out of it. /rant

American Idol - Season 7
He's damned good. And what makes him even more likeable for me is that when he is not singing he seems like nothing more than a goofy kid, but a genuine one. It makes his ability stand out that much more. But I do think that may wear on people as the competition goes on, not that he can do anything about it. He is real, but I think some people will find the goofy smile and always saying thank you as less refreshing and more irritating. As far as the women tonight, I'd like to see Amanda, the Janis Joplin wannabe and Kady Malloy from Houston get the boot. AND, I'd like to see one Thursday night where no one cries. Fat chance, huh?

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) That's fine. I see your point. Although if I were a player, I'd much rather win a fair fight against an equal opponent than to continually lose to a bigger guy who has an unfair advantage. "At least we got there," doen't hang on the gym wall as well as a state championship banner does. The smaller schools may play with the bigger guys on occasion, but they hardly ever won the "big one." That's MY point. Obviously you haven't lived it. It is not a simple concept to grasp, but for those of us that have lived it, I think most would agree. It worked. Unfortunately, people's mentality has changed. We have to give every kid who plays a sport now a trophy just for participating. At what point does every kid have to be made to feel like an all-star?? What happened to competing? Small schools were just fine competing in that structure until someone told them it wasn't fair. Sometimes people need to understand, if it AIN'T broke, DON'T fix it!

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 25, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) I think it's fine how it is. The one class thing was dominated by the 4 and 5A schools. You weren't going to have a Milan/Hickory thing happen any time in the near future anyway. Don't need to. It was enough for small schools to get to a regional or semi-state. When a school like Vincennes Rivet beats Lincoln after they have won 30-something consecutive sectionals, that IS their state championship.

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 24, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) Rex, How you digging 4 class bball? It's our first year in Illinois with it. Some good match ups and the 1A/2A girls tourney had some good games so can't complain yet. I haven't lived in Indiana since they made the change, but most of what I have heard is not positive. Most people I know would rather go back to the single class, all-in tournament that made Indiana unique for years. ss2k, any others have thoughts??
