  1. Just need some size now. Where's the beef??
  2. Great news to report today. After a strong week sticking to the right foods and working out, I dropped 8 pounds! This puts me at 311 and I am now down 51 pounds since January. My initial goal of 299 by June 1st is looking possible again. This will be a tough week because I have a wedding to go to Saturday night. I know I will be drinking and I am sure not eating the best either. That's okay, cheating helps, I just have to make sure not to overdo it. For those of you still working on it, keep it up. It's obviously possible if you commit yourself to it.

Garmin's are quite user friendly. I have used one and my parents have one. I'd definitely recommend them. A guy at work has a Tom Tom and has had major problems with it. Most of our technicians have bought them now and almost all have Garmins.
  4. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 3, 2008 -> 06:41 PM) Rex: You have lost an amazing amount of weight by the way. That's gotta have you feeling a lot better. Thanks man. I am feeling much better, but I know I have a long, long way to go. I am in this for the long run. It looks as if I will miss my initial goal, but that will not get me discouraged. I'll simply adapt and create a new one. Thanks again and keep up the good work yourself.
  5. As frustrating as all of this is, I can honestly say that I am happy that IU is leaving the Kelvin Sampson era behind very quickly. Apparently more than half the team was in academic trouble even before Sampson left. The next few years will be a struggle, but I believe in what Crean is doing. When they make the turnaround complete, I believe IU basketball will be back to where it should be. That is a program run clean with players that have class and a true respect for the program and the game itself, all while competing for Big Ten Championships regularly and every few years competing at the very highest level in the Tournament. It's a tall hill to climb, but part of me thinks it is just best to clean house and start over, leaving the Sampson era behind.
  6. Glad others are still working toward their goals. It's got kinda quiet in here lately.
  7. Down three pounds this week to 319. Have a tall order to hit my initial goal of 299 by June 1. I'm going to give it a good shot this week and see if I can build a bit more momentum. If not, I'll have to adjust the goal. Losing 63 punds in 5 months was an aggressive goal. I'm okay if I don't get there as long as I am getting there, so to spoeak. Soon I will have to figure out what my next target needs to be.
  8. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) As of today: 243! Nice work. Keep it up
  9. Gained a pound this week so back to 322. I'm not too disappointed since I didn't eat well this weekend, drank a lot of beer Saturday night and only walked twice. I was expecting worse. Time to get back to moving downward this coming week.
  10. Another solid week. Not putting up spectacular numbers, but have been very consistent lately. Dropped 4 lbs this week. Now down 41 lbs total since Jan 5. Have to lose 22 more pounds in the next 6 weeks to hit my initial goal. Won't be easy, but it's doable.
  11. Does the mean the Goose Island Beer Festival is no more??? I found that by accident one time when I was up in Chicago and had a really good time.
  12. For a good quick crust, I recommend Martha White Pizza Crust. It comes in a blue pouch and you just have to mix with water. I let it sit for 15-20 minutes on the stove where it is warm with the oven preheating. Note: don't let it sit in a stainless steel mixing bowl if the surface will be warm at all, it will start to cook early! For sauce..... 1 8oz can of Hunts Tomato Sauce a 2:1 mixture of oregano and basil (play with the amounts to suit your own taste) 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon of ground fennel (buy the seeds, dump them into a blender and pur back into the bottle) Mix it all up and then add a small amount of EVOO (again, adjust to your own taste) Stir in the EVOO well and you will have one hell of a pizza sauce. You can add salt if you prefer, but I don't think that is necessary. Fennel seeds are often found in fresh sausage and eaten alone taste a little like black licorice. Ground fennel adds an element to the sauce you won't find in a can. Don't skip it.
  13. A little disappointed with the number this week. Dropped 3 lbs this week, whichi is good, but I really felt like it was going to be a big week. Still, I feel as good as I have in a long time, so I am not going to complain.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 12:30 PM) Turns out the Buckeye's Eugene Clifford was suspended last season because he failed a drug test as well. How come we dont hear much about this? Schools keep it under wraps. "Violation of team rules" is a safer way of suspending someone. In all honesty I think that is the way it should be. These guys are college students. They are under the microscope enough. They don't need to have every f*** up they make detailed in the national news.
  15. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) I'm just going to put this here; Scott Martin has decided to transfer from Purdue. http://www.nwitimes.com/articles/2008/04/0...88353436239.txt Never saw that one coming. Evansville will take him!
  16. Quick question about the actual show. Next week is the live finale. Does anyone know how much actual time there was between tonight's taped last week on campus and next week's finale? How does the finale work? Is the winner the one that has the highest percentage of weight-loss? Oh, and if anybody is open, my suggestion is to vote for Roger to be in the finale. Last week Roger was let go from his job for being away from work for too long. Not sure what kind of agreement what they had in the beginning, but that kinda blows. My guess is he will trade this experience for any job. He was an associate Athletic Director at Jacksonville State in Alabama.
  17. I know I am probably jinxing myself, but I am having a great week and am looking forward to Friday's weigh-in. I've eaten well all week and started walking last Thursday. Except for the weekend, I've walked about 2 1/2 miles each day and have added some strength exercises done at home. My energy level is higher than I can recall in a long time. I'm still shooting for 299 by June 1st, which would be a total loss of 63 pounds in 5 months. I haven't set the goal for my next step, I'll wait until I get closer to June 1 to do so. But I have set a longer term goal to run a 5k race here in October. Seems like a tall order at this time, but I know it can be done. Keep working guys. It's not easy, but it feels damned good when you commit yourself to it!
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) Hey man, you're losing more than 10 pounds a month - that's impressive! I appreciate that, but with as much as I have to lose I don't feel like it is going fast enough. I have done it all to this point without exercise so it is time to turn it up a notch. I am well behind pace to hit my initial goal of 299 by June 1. I started walking this week and plan to keep it up, hoping that will help get me to the next level. I'm not far off from starting to lift as well, but that may be a few more weeks. I had a good week this week and am down to 328, down 4 pounds. I believe if I stick with the changes I have made in my diet, be a little more disciplined on the weekends and stay consistent with walking (until I can run) then the pace should pick up. Thanks for the encouragement though. It's always good to hear that.
  19. Nice discussion on the topic of Crean taking the IU job. Not sure how this discussion became about Illinois, but I was just thrilled to read it. Thanks for staying on topic!
  20. I like the hire. Crean was one of the few I wanted 2 years ago when Sampson was hired. I think since IU passed on him last time, many kinda forgot about him as a candidate. And don't be fooled, Bassett and Ellis aren't going anywhere. "Kicking them off" was simply sending a message that even though no HC had been named, the players still had to be accountable for their actions.
  21. This may have been mentioned but the one thing I thought was really cool about Davidson in the regional was... The school paid for any student that wanted to go. They paid for their ticket, a bus to Detroit and hotel for two nights. Obviously being such a small school allows them to do so, but I have never heard of a school basically providing the whole trip to any student that wanted to go. Nice move by the Davidson administration.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) That's fine, you and all of them are wrong. If you really think Tyler Hansbrough tries harder than anybody else in games, your an idiot and that goes for anybody who says it. I can buy he tries harder than anybody else in terms of practice and practice time, but everybody works their ass off in college games, I've been to enough of them and been paid to be at enough of them the last 2 years to know that now. Somebody's an idiot, that's for sure. If you think there are players that coast on some possessions or don't go all out all of the time then you just might be it. Coaches push their players every day to push themselves every play in every sport. RARELY is that actually accomplised. There is a difference between trying hard and actually going all out 100% all of the time. I haven't seen 100% of Hansbrough's time on the floor to definitively say that is him, but I can see how relentless he is. What do you think makes a great rebounder? Being relentless. Do you really think DJ White was as aggressive in past seasons as he was this year? Hell no. He finally realized there was another level for his game to reach and he became a different player. So to act as if everybody competes with equal fervor all the time is assinine. Have you ever played a sport? Are you going to honestly tell me that every teammate you had competed equally? If your answer is yes, then my assumption is that you were the lazy ass dragging the rest of the team down. Your argument is silly and completely colored by whatever reason you don't like him or Carolina.
  23. QUOTE(farmteam @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) Bennett said No to IU. Apparently they've essentially told Miller the job's his if he wants it, but I'm doubting he takes it. I'd be ecstatic if he did though. http://blogs.heraldtimesonline.com/iusp/?p=1858 Not so sure about Miller. Apparently there could be large buyout issues with him.
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) You could've just posted the webpage for the scout UM boards and people could have read UM fan's view on it, like I said UM fan's will have all the same view on it. And yours is completely objective? Whatever
  25. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Agree to an extent, but comments like these yesterday don't help the cause. From Pitino, “Because I've coached against Michael in his prime, Barkley in his prime, Kareem when he left, Magic, all the great ones I've been fortunate to watch and observe those guys. Certainly he doesn't have those abilities of those superstars, but just like shooting, rebounding, playing defense, passing, skills, working hard is an acquired skill. Every NBA coach would love to have a player not only because he works hard, but he has a lot of talent. Imagine that. You know, we have an old saying as an offensive rebounder, "treat every shot as a pass to you." And it's a good saying, except most players can't do that. He does that." Or from Terrance Williams, “I've never been on the court where someone goes hard for every position, every rebound, dives on the floor and do whatever to make his time win. He deserves everything that he gets.” Or Padgett, “He deserves every accolade and all the success that he gets. Like Coach said, I've never played against somebody who plays that hard, and the kid is just absolutely determined to be a great basketball player. And big-time players make big-time plays and he made two big-time plays at the end of game.” Guess a few disagree with you 101. lol
