  1. Since when is trampoline an Olympic Sport???? Since when is trampoline a sport at all???? How stupid!
  2. Did you also notice that Crocker lost out on the bronze, also by .01 seconds? You're right, Disney couldn't script it better.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) If you havent noticed, the theme of the thread is who do YOU dislike. Not who SHOULD you dislike. Its an opinion, there are plenty of them in this thread. In fact, there are a lot of pretty good players, teammates, and teams mentioned in this thread. I dislike Johnny Damon(especially bearded Jesus Damon), Jason Giambi, Johan Santana(for all of those years he just held the Sox under his thumb), James Posey, Jason Kidd, Terrell Owens, Bill Belichek, Jon Gruden, Al Davis I'm fully aware of what the theme of this thread is, thank you. My point is why in the hell would someone dislike such a player? I can understand disliking someone who is an ass, or a good player on a rival team, but not a role player who has far exceeded his given talent level to stick around the Major Leagues and someone that handles himself with class. Just trying to understand the reasoning. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have known Jamey since he was 14 and consider him a strong acquaintance. I'm not close enough to have been invited to his wedding, but close enough to give him a call every year or two just to check in, or to catch dinner with him after a game if I get to a city where he is playing and he doesn't have a bunch of family in town.
  4. Wow, doesn't get any closer than that! Phelps wins by .01 seconds
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 11:22 PM) Jeremy Schaap just reported that if Crocker concentrates tomorrow, which he has had trouble doing in the past, that he will in fact beat Phelps. I'm not Joe-Swimmer here but it sounds like one of those for sure things. Phelps took himself out of a race in 2004 for Crocker, so maybe if Crocker beats him, he will pull out of a future race in these olympics so Phelps can take his spot, which should get him gold medal #8. Actually if Crocker beats Phelps in a couple of minutes then Phelps would still be sitting on 6 golds, so allowing Phelps to take his place in the relay would only allow Phelps to tie Mark Spitz record 7 gold medals.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) Just to kind of get an idea, 8 of the 202 countries in the Olympics are fielding a baseball team... Eight are fielding a team or eight qualified? I think it is the latter. Remember the USA didn't qualify for the last Olympics. The field is kept at 8 for some reason. Not sure if it is logistical or just a % of the total # of countries that play in the qualifying tournaments.
  7. Down three pounds in the last two weeks to 280. Eighteen pounds to the 100 pound plateau. Seems more and more real every day. Went shopping last night. Tried on suits and with a slight alteration, I am fitting into a 50R. I had them look up, out of curiosity, the size of a sport coat I bought a couple of years ago and it was a 60! I went home and tried it on last night and it is like a freakin dress! Problem is now I have zero pants that fit. The closest pair is a pair of jeans that 2-3 months ago was too small. Now they are awfully baggy. My khakis are way too baggy. All other khakis and jeans are long gone past trying. Still trying to hold off buying new clothes as long as possible. Took an old suit in today to be altered.

So where are you headed to next Dbaho?? What is the next stop on the US Tour?
  9. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) haha french bastards, the commercial with Jenkins sp?? after the win was grea for his mom. Not to sound racist, but I have never seen a black swimmer. What a great race,i was standing up and cheering. I did the double fist pump from my chair. That was worth staying up for. What a finish and to absolutely blow away the world-record like that is amazing!
  10. Good work. Don't stop now. 190 is just around the corner.
  11. The USA women's team gymnastics performance is almost hitting train wreck status.
  12. A few observations about USA Men's Basketball... 1. They know how to dunk 2. They play great defense 3. They don't shoot worth a s***
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 07:13 AM) What the hell channel is everything on? I've yet to see any sports. Olympic coverage on NBC, MSNBC, Universal HD and currently on USA. All showing different events.
  14. Anyone find a good site to go to that has a decent schedule and also US Olympic rosters for every sport? Not sure why, but I am more pumped for the Olympics this year than I have been in a LONG time.

QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 08:17 AM) Thanks for the tips guys. I think Rendezvous will be a must, and we'll definitely be hitting up Beale Street tomorrow and Saturday Nights. Don't forget to hit on as many Southern women as you can (or it takes ha ha). They'll LOVE your accent and you'll find theirs a nice combination of sweet and sexy!
  16. Rex Hudler replied to DBAHO's topic in SLaM
Unfortunately, one of the best strip clubs in history was closed last year. No more Platinum Plus. I'll 3rd or 4th the vote on Rendezvous Excellent BBQ. And catching a Redbirds AAA game is something you should do DBAHO. That stadium rivals many Major League parks, albeit not in size. Do Beale Street, hit on some Southern women and listen to some blues. That should be plenty!
  17. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 12:33 AM) no idea .. just bugs the hell out of me .. hated him with the rockies Yeah, I can see why one would hate him. I mean he is simply a guy who has played at a higher level than the talent he has and made the major leagues after laboring in the Minors for years, when no one gave him a chance to even get to the Show. The only reason he got called up was a September injury to Andres Galarraga after being told by the Nationals they didn't have the budget to call him up. Yeah over achieving, quality teammates really suck!
  18. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) Jamey Carroll ugh. Hey, what the hell is wrong with Jamey Carroll??
  19. Last year someone posted (I think it was on here) a master college football schedule complete with color helmets from every team. Has anyone seen this year's version anywhere? I'd attach the file, but SoxTalk doesn't like me attaching files, even when they are within the file size limitations. Okay, guess I should have just googled it. I found it and here is a link to it. This is a must for all college football fans. Or at least fans that watch more than just their team. 2008 NCAA Football Helmet schedule

A nice pen might also be a good gift. You aren't going to get a Mont Blanc for $50 but I'm there would be something nice in that range? BTW, is the old Cross pen set still around or is that totally outdated?
  21. Michigan will be better than 5-7, guaranteed. 7-5 is more like it. They'll be interesting to watch on offense, but they'll be in every game. They'll also be better conditioned than ever (and every other team) in the 4th quarter.
  22. Can't stop now. Two more this week to get to 283. I plan to start running more than walking once I get to 275. A 5k before the end of the year WILL happen.
  23. Rex Hudler replied to Marky Mark's topic in SLaM
I say spring for tickets and beers and take them all to a Sox game! I've gotten knife/large engraved beer mug/monogrammed stone coasters/etc. etc. The mug is the only one I have left but it is rarely used. To me, having a fun night together would be just as fun. That may be a problem if they are not all from the same area. Hell, if a Sox game is too expensive, take them to a Kane County game if they are all baseball fans.
  24. Another 5 pounds this week makes me very happy. I ate like a pig this weekend, but got right back to eating right on Sunday and worked hard this week. I've turned the exercise up a notch to include more strength training as well as walking/a little running. I am really starting to feel major differences and at some point soon am going to HAVE to buy some new clothes. I don't want to spend $$ on clothes when I am still losing, but I'm down to only 2-3 pairs of pants/jeans that I can still wear at all. Good problems. Now at 285, which brings my total loss now to 77 lbs. I know this thread has died off in recent months, but I encourage everyone else that if they are serious about losing weight to find a way to focus and get it done. You'll feel a ton better and be glad you did. Thanks to all here who have supported me. Still have a ways to go, but breaking the 75 lb mark is a great feeling.
  25. I stayed at the Palmer House in 2004, the last time I was in Chicago. I got it on Priceline for $72/night. I thought the room in the hotel was pretty ordinary. Not much special at all. However, the lobby/street level was awesome. Very nice, old with intricate detail. The location was solid as well. I enjoyed my stay but the room itself was not as nice as the Westin Michigan Ave or the W Hotel (near the Sears Tower). Both of those hotels have beds that are among the most comfortable I have slept in. Enjoy your stay, get out and explore a little. This site will be a huge help to you as far as public transportation. It has maps, schedules, etc. http://www.transitchicago.com/
