QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) who said that? Burnitz will not win. period. I heard that so we could actually see how many cub fans and sox fans would actually vote, without rigging involed. We would see how close it would actually be.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Because we want to win a World Series. This year. BMac isn't ready. The only thing that bothers me about Clemens is that he has a clause in his contract that he doesn't have to travel with the team. I don't like that, and I don't know what that would do to the other pitchers on the staff. I never said BMac was ready, and i don't think he is. What i was trying to get at was why trade for a 42 year old who has 1-2 years left for someone who can possibly play 15+ years. If i was going to trade with Houston though, i would try to get Oswalt from them.

Just like 3E8 said, it has to be because of his swing. He is such a free swinger that he nearly falls over after some swings.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) I believe I said that. Oswalt is an awesome pitcher and he isn't tanking this season. That's why I'd prefer the Sox to pay top dollar for him rather than Schmidt. You said the Sox would have to pay top dollar to get Oswalt. I said that they would be asking top dollar for him in the first place.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Yes, that's Milton. OK that's what i thought. He would totally suck here then.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Just reported on ESPN1000. BMAC will be skipped in his next start. Garland will pitch instead. Ok, i didn't think they should start him vs. the Cubs anyways. I know he did well last time he played them, but i feel more confident with Jon pitching vs. them.

If the sox got Roy Oswalt I would poop in my pants, QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) If the sox got Roy Oswalt I would poop in my pants, same as if they got Chavez. Oswalt would give us a ridiculous rotation 1.Oswalt 2. MB 3. Freddy 4.Garland 5. Contreras Jesus I would run the streets naked.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) i dont think we are going to be getting an ace pitcher even though there are a handful out there who we could get, i picture a low profile guy like brandon backe or kip wells, or maybe eric milton Is eric milton the king of letting homeruns up? Or is that somebody else.
-
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) yeah they need all they can get Thats true, but Oswalt is one of the top pitchers in the league and they would deservingly get top dollar for him. If they settled for anything less, then that would be a shock.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) I think San Fran will be asking top dollar for Schmidt based on past performance, and if the Sox are going to pay top dollar for a starter, I'd prefer it to be Roy Oswalt. The Astros would ask for top dollar for Oswalt too.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Sadly, our efforts have probably motivated more cub fans to try to find other people or computers to vote from in order to try to catch us. So were not rigging the next poll, which is right field right? I just want to make sure so that i don't do it.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) When we cause bigger riots in Chicago than the Bulls did. Then they might cover us a little.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) I hate to say this, but I almost wish you guys had just left 1 position open so that we could see how actual voting would come out. Even if it was just Third base, so that we could see how many people actually voted Crede over Ramirez. That would have been interesting to see.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Trade BMac for Roger Clemens. If the Astros' scouts are as high on BMac as the Sox are, they would do it. They're not going anywhere this year, and Clemens is costing them a ton of money they could use to rebuild. Oswalt and BMac would give them two aces in their rotation for years to come (again assuming they see what the Sox see in BMac). Clemens would give the Sox the best rotation around. For those who say we don't need another starter, what happens if Buehrle, Garcia, or Garland go down? If the Sox believe this is THE year, they should try to get Clemens. Although Clemens costs a lot of money, he is one of the few pitchers around that put asses in the seats. With the buzz created by Clemen's acquisition, the Sox would increase attendence by a significant amount, paying for Clemens' salary. I heard Clemens has stated he would not be interested in being traded to anyone other than maybe the Yankees or Rangers. But I believe under the present circumstances, he would consider pitching for the team with the best record in baseball. Of course this is probably just a pipe dream, but the more I think of it, the more this has KW written all over it. Why would we trade a guy who could be around for 10-15 years to get a guy who has about 1-2 left in him. I just don't see why this would make sense.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) its safe to say that we dont need to vote anymore Yeah I agree, unless the cub fans learn how to rig the polls and it gets close.

We can't do anything to make ESPN change their minds about us, so let's just forget about ESPN in the first place.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) Who's the center fielder on your All-City team? 99.5% Aaron Rowand, White Sox (37865 responses) 0.5% Corey Patterson, Cubs (182 responses) 38047 total responses I tallied 17,348 votes in a little over an hour. Total Domination.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) does that have anything to do with not eating cat? No, cat is fine, dog, now theres a problem.

QUOTE(zach61 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) usage For both transitive and intransitive senses 1b the past and past participle hung, as well as hanged, is standard. Hanged is most appropriate for official executions but hung is also used . Hung is more appropriate for less formal hangings . But it was in a past tense as in " That is where they hung people".

I don't think anyone on this board is a fascist, at least to my knowledge.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) i would hope that trying to be active on a board, and not understanding necessarily the fascist attitudes around here would not merrit a warning. either way, let's go white sox, beat the royals... the all-city team is pointless and becomes a joke if we were able to vote konerko ahead of d-lee. makes us look dumb. Just quit while your ahead. :headshake
