  1. Look at it this way, that inning could have been a lot worse than it was. At least were only down by 2.
  2. WARNING: You are about to enter the Jose Contreras blow up inning. Please stand by for further deatails.....
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Sorry fellas, I hate to make a new thread when there's already 50 other threads out there, but I hadn't seen Guardado's name mentioned anywhere. So, here it is: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/234621_mbok30.html What would it take? Tracey + Vizcaino? Tracey + Fields/Baj + Vizcaino? per rotoworld Eddie Guardado - R - SEA The Mariners reportedly have dropped the asking price for Eddie Guardado, making it seem more likely than ever he'll be moved today or tomorrow. They were seeking a veteran starter and an elite prospect for the closer, but now they are listening to all offers and may let him go for a single prospect. Jul. 30 - 9:24 am et Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer not really any major news
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) This would be so sweet if it happened 1.) Because he improves our lineup a lot 2.) Because I traded for him in MVP Baseball 3.) Because he improves our lineup a lot I would love it if we get Overbay.
  5. Just because JD played 1B ONCE this year does not make him a good firstbasemen. If he does make the transition to first, it should be during the offseason/spring training of '06 so he can get used to playing that position.
  6. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Roosevelt Brown...I keep telling you guys. Brown should get called up over Borchard
  7. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) The last couple days have brought these thread gems: - Trade Konerko so Dye can play 1st. - Fire Joey Cora, he sucks - Bench Tadahito Iguchi so Willie Harris can start - Joe Crede's defense sucks - Our team is like 2003-2003-2004, no heart - We will lose the division to the Twins After reading all the posts and going over the facts and stats, I have come to this conclusion: No one on this team can make a mistake, no matter how great they've been all year. No one can be in a slump, no matter how many times they've helped us win No one can make errors after not making any for months There is a strong and vocal community who does NOT believe in this team, it's players or it's coaches. They don't like this team and are looking at every excuse to bash them. 30+ games over in July .500 doesn't matter "It could be better" One of top defenses in MLB, doesn't matter "Did you see that play last night..etc" Top pitching in the League , doesn't matter. Top team in steals & sacrifices, doesn't matter 11 game lead in the division in July, doesn't matter Scored 459 runs...6th in the AL Given up 375 runs...1st in AL. 2nd in MLB!!! Thats why we win Folks!!! If we were playing poorly, I'd understand. If this team wasn't doing playing good, solid fundemental baseball, I'd understand. If we were playing selfish, I'd understand. BUT WE ARE NOT DOING THAT. So, I don't understand. So I ask why... All I can say is, I watch the games. I see how they play. I see the emotion, the heart and the guts they give every night. That's why were winning. Can we be better...sure no team is perfect. But does the house have to be destroyed so we can build a new one? No. Can another bullpen arm help. Yes Can another Starter help when we fragile in that area physically. Yes. Can a versitile bench player help. Yes. Do we need to replace half the team and it's coaching staff. NO In closing, your Honor, I demand the White Sox of 2005 be found NOT GUILTY of sucking and any reference to them or a specific team member sucking without provication or adequate facts to support that be mocked to the fullest extent of the law! This fan rests.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Has Nevin agreed to go to Baltimore? It is one of the teams on his no trade list. As far as Ponson goes, thank God the White Sox low balled him when he was a free agent. He has a lot of ability, but he make Jose Contreras look like the most consistent pitcher who ever lived. Maybe going to SD will do something for him. He was great in 2003 with Baltimore, and was pretty decent the second half of last season IIRC. No, not yet.
  9. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) The Devil Rays.
  10. QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) Give me Burnett and Vizquel, and we're all set for the playoff. Not only for this year, if KW miraculously signs Burnet for three more years, my gosh, how good are the Sox going to be in the next three years. Buehrle, Burnett, Garcia and Garland will keep us in contention every year!!! Wow, please make it happen Kenny. That's assuming that AJ would stay healthy.
  11. Phil Nevin - 1B - SD According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Phil Nevin hasn't yet waived his no-trade clause to go the Orioles in return for Sidney Ponson. Apparently, this isn't as done as ESPNews made it sound originally. Nevin is in the starting lineup for the Padres today. Jul. 23 - 2:12 pm et Source: ESPN.com per rotoworld
  12. I wouldn't mind if we got him. But what would the sox do with uribe? Move him to the bench or involve him in the trade.
  13. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) on espn insider they said that junior wanted to win a world series ring, and the white sox were mentioned. Ken Griffey Jr. Reds Yankees? White Sox? Red sunset? Jul 19 - According to the Dayton Daily News, Ken Griffey Jr. would accept a trade "only to the right team." As a 10-and-5 guy (10 years or more in the majors and five years or more with the same team), Griffey has final say on any trade. "It would have to be a top contender because I want to win," he told the newspaper. "I want a World Series ring. I'm tired of looking at my dad's three World Series rings." Griffey probably is not marketable, even though he is dazzling scouts with his recent play. The Reds would have to eat a lot of his salary. He makes a base of $12.5 million through 2008 with $6.5 million more a year in deferred money, with no interest until the contract expires after the 2008 season. Then he makes $6.5 million a year through 2025 at 4 percent compound interest. That contract is a real downer, but we don't need another outfielder.
  14. Crede's sideburns are sweet and need to stay. I was waiting to see how long it would take someone to post about them. Is he still wearing no batting gloves too? I know monday he didn't and he hit that homerun, but i didn't catch tonights game.
  15. Shingo Takatsu - R - CWS The Diamondbacks are reportedly interested in claiming Shingo Takatsu off waivers. They should be, after their bullpen gave up a four-run lead last night (again). They reportedly had scouts at several White Sox games in the last few days as well. Jul. 19 - 11:12 am et Source: MLB.com
  16. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) To give someone a free pass just because they had cancer is ludicrous. I am not in any way saying I support the idea that Lowell was on steroids, but you can't just argue that he had cancer, so boo hoo poor him. That's like saying, well, he killed that guy, but he had cancer so don't pick on him. Anyway, his numbers have been bad, but he was never really THAT good anyway. I don't think Lowell took steroids, but am not defending him just because he had cancer. Though I do feel bad for him, and respect him for overcoming cancer, I don't give him a free pass for life. No it's not. That is one bad comparison that you attempeted to make.
  17. Shingo Takatsu - R - White Sox According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the ''West Coast team'' interested in Shingo Takatsu is likely the Giants. ''Right now, I haven't talked to [general manager] Kenny [Williams] about it,'' manager Ozzie Guillen said. ''I think there was a rumor last week that some people wanted Shingo. I don't know about this week. Right now, it's nothing.'' Jul. 17 - 9:21 am et Source: Chicago Sun-Times
  18. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) When you look at next year, Brian Anderson is clearly ready for the show. We aren't moving Pods with his cheap salary and all he means for us. Dye has been very good this year and I don't think he will be traded. So this leaves us with Rowand, a fan favorite and grinder. A few things might happen: Anderson gets traded this year for a pitcher, during the off-season for a high-priced player or doesn't. If the third part is true, what do you do with Rowand? Personally, I would keep him as your 4th outfielder and ask him to learn 1st base during the off-season. This way Aaron can play 5 positions (LF, CF, RF, 1b, DH) and we can have a similar rotation to what we have this year. Not to mention with Dye's injury history and Thomas' old age (if we keep him,) and the need to keep Pods healthy and Anderson from tiring, but Aaron would still get 450-500 at bats. Any thoughts? :puke
  19. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) yah it was Ok i was pretty sure that was it but wasn't 100% on it.
  20. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) The guy battled and won against cancer...I highly doubt it. What type of cancer was it? I thought it was testicular but i'm not sure.
  21. QUOTE(sufferingsoxfan @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) Didn't Thome used to play 3rd base? Can he still play it? If he could, he would make a great additon. I think he did play it a little in cleveland. I don't know if he can still play it at all.
  22. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) long while ago. i said i was going to buy a shirt........ hey, maybe i still will Is there a link to the store on Soxtalk somewhere?
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 06:31 AM) what you really need is a Soxtalk shirt When did Soxtalk start selling merchandise? I never knew that their was a store.
