  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 11:31 PM) How many Americans would give up their life for a lot of things, such as freedom (TRUE freedom) of religion? Or some other things, that I'm too tired right now to contemplate? We are so damn spoiled. ^^^^^ Indeed
  2. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Here's my Soxtalk League #2 team. 10-team, head-to-head. Lemme know what you think. QB: K. Collins OAK QB: J. Plummer DEN WR: J. Horn NO WR: J. Walker GB WR: Ro. Williams DET RB: W. McGahee BUF RB: C. Dillon NE TE: R. McMichael MIA W/T: K. McCardell SD W/R: C. Williams TB BN T. Williamson (WR) BN D. Carr (QB) BN L..J. Smith (TE) BN L. Suggs (RB) BN T. Henry (RB) K: J. Reed DEF: Baltimore I like roy williams ( seems to be the best pick of the detroit wrs) carr is a great backup, he may break out, always good to have potential break out players on the bench. I think mcgahee is a good pick, but not as high as he is going on most boards. Collins is a sleeper with the addition of moss, he has shown to have very good years with less talented Wrs Walker looks to have another big year, especially with favre realizing the end is near (may make him more hungry). Plummer won't hurt you, Don't expect him to help you too much though, still a solid pick. Mcmichael is a good sleeper at TE. Everyone jumps at Shockey and Gonzalez, seems Mcmichael can be taken a little later as a sleeper a lot of times. Dillon plays for the super bowl champs, so you know he will give it 110% every game. Overall I like your team a lot. very solid team.
  3. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) We've also been playing subpar teams ...just saying ok mrs. harrelson. But I'm sure Boston, Fla and Ana did not play all elite teams in sept. Just saying...
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) It'll be Dave Wills IMO with Farmer. Hopefully they keep Dolgin on the pregame, but I don't see that happening either. Wills hates the cubs more than Rooney does, so what Mcneil said would have been just a cover up then.
  5. QUOTE(spiderman @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) I think McNeil basically said that the management was kind of embarassed by his whole 'I hate anything Cubs's act...wasn't that the point McNeil made ? He only went along with what a lot of fans liked to hear. Sox fans hate the cubs. He didn't need to get fired, just change his approach a bit.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) Get ready for me to go off at Soxfest. This is complete and utter bulls***. Im with you
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Maybe DJ doing play by play in the 8th inning, is being groomed to be the radio PBP guy, with Stone taking over the color on TV? That could be. But why get rid of Rooney, He is one of the best IMO. This is Horse s***
  8. I bet the score wants steve stone to take his place. Though, I love stone, not at Rooneys expense, I will boycott the score from now.
  9. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) and a guy who holds out 30 + days isn't? No need for that post, it has been removed by me.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) NFL teams rarely have success without a top-half QB. Jim Miller 2001 The Bears have the tools to make up for that this year. Good O line, Good D, good Rbs, decent Wr's If you have a lower half D and qb, then you have no chance to do anything, I feel if you have everything else BUT a qb , you have a shot.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) I know the Bears weren't planning this, but I'd say the Bears are still back at square one when it comes to a QB. Orton should not be the answer, yet. Back to square one at qb, I agree. I feel it would hurt the bears more if they lost key players on D or lost their running game. Like I stated, the bears usually revolve their gameplay around , running the ball/killing clock/playing good D .
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Again, until Mr. Orton proves anything in an NFL game, the Bears are nothing. I'll give you credit if he Roethlisberger's the NFL, but I don't see it happening. I don't see that either, but since when is the bears O revolved around the QB position? It helps to have 2 decent running backs.
  13. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) I'm pretty sure Indy's not satisfied with just going to the AFC Championship every year. If you haven't noticed, Indy's done plenty this offseason to improve their defense. as the bears have with their offense. But that does not seem to get noticed around these parts because we have a rookie starting QB. In reality, how much more expierienced is Grossman over Orton? Grossman has a better knowledge on the playbook but as for on the field play, I still consider Grossman a rookie ( he has yet to play a full season)
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Without a solid QB, you can't say the Bears improved that much. I'm talking about the Bears without their starting QB again. getting rid of Quinn and Krenzel are probably an improvemnt within itself. Yeah, last year was THAT bad.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) I don't necessarily agree with that, but still... 2005-2006 season: Indy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chicago I do not disagree. I'm just tired of everyone Saying you can't win without O. I guess you can win without D huh? Not really. If the ultimate goal for any franchise was just to get to the AFC championship game every year , then I guess you don need a decent D.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) The difference b/w Indy's O and Chicago's O is >>>>>> Chicago's D and Indy's D. Indy's got a good front 4 now anyway, with Simon joining the mix. are you talking about Chicagos offense last year with quin and a depleted line? Terrell as the go to guy? Jones getting plays to run up the middle 3 and out? Bears improvements >>>>>> INDYS improvements BTW I see how you are quick to point out Indys upgrades but don't like to acknowledge the bears MAJOR improvements.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) There's a big difference between the dominance of the Colts' offense and the Bears' defense. The Colts O set numerous records last year, and while I know the Bears' D wasn't healthy last year, it finished in the middle of the pack. They'd have to lead the league in a few categories to compare. Plus the Colts' D should be middle of the pack with the addition of Simon, the Bear's O will not be. At least the Colts' defense has a couple of playmakers, the Bears have one guy coming off a career year. Pre-Season means nothing. Teams aren't playing their top players very long (not at all in some cases) and are usually not using all of their playbook. You're basically trying to predict success for the Bears' D based on a scrimmage, and against mostly weak offensive teams at that. Remember, the 85 Bears were winless in the preseason. Do you really think that the Colts' juggernaut of an offense is going to struggle like it did in the Pre-season? The bears also had key injuries to half their defense last year. What would Indys offense be without any 2 of the following: Manning, James, Harrison, wayne , stokley,
  18. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) What are you talking about? The Colts had an average D last year and upgraded in talent at every level of their D. The secondary was upgraded by the replacement of Nick Harper and Idrees Bashir with Marlin Jackson and Bob Sanders, the LB corps was upgraded by making Gary Brackett the starter ahead of Blob Morris, and the DL was upgraded with the signing of Simon. The Bears offense, on the other hand, was the worst in the NFL. They did upgrade their talent a lot, so that might make them an average offense if Orton gets going well. Either way, their defense is going to have to carry them to most if not all of their wins this year. ha look at the link http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/DEF-...ar?sort_col_1=4
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Is this like how Tampa Bay's stellar preseason D carried over last year? I'm not saying the Bears defense is bad....it just won't make up for the offense. Just like how Indys O is great but it just does not make up for their s***ty D .
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Which is entirely possible. I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid as much as others, I'm seeing 6 or 7 wins this year, just because I don't see them not improving on last years record. Not a fan of Koolaid? You are not alone :
  21. QUOTE(Spiff @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) God, you're such a f***in homer it's ridiculous. The Giants defense has been ridiculous lately too but you don't see me puffing out my chest because I know my team's role. The Bears suck, the Giants suck too but slightly less. The D does not suck, Far from it. He is not being a homer, just stating the damn facts.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) Hmmm, I got 7 more inches to go... Keep eating that soup and you'll get there
