  1. QUOTE(frahungski @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) i don't know about the opinions of the rest of you guys, but i think modern nicknames suck ass. it seems like the majority of them are either the first letter of the first name, plus the first 3 letters of the last name; or are just the name with a "y" at the end. a-rod, a-row, s-pod, paulie, booney, etc. many teams don't even have real nicknames. the cardinals and cubs for instance. one name that is very cool is El Duque, but that's about it for cool names that i can think of. what happened to "the Deacon," or "Black Jack," or "Paco Martin," "Batman," "Rock Raines" "One Dog" "Officer Karkovice." maybe it's just me, but nicknames nowadays are weak. your avatar>>>>>>> modern nick names
  2. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) NO! I asked a serious question and no one answered it, I still want to know why this is such a big deal to you guys dude, sports is like 50 % of my life. But, when I see a new leader for 1 billion people + get elected It puts things in perspective. There is more to life then what we load our brains with day in and day out ( sports, movies, music) Wheter you like the pope, or not. He will be a leader to over a billion people. What he says, or does, over one billion people will listen and follow every time. This in turn does affect how the world will turn over the up coming years. It will affect you some how one way or another. Like it or not.
  3. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) which lead to hawk's shaved head i think He said 10 games. but mark b made him do it anyway
  4. wow. I have goosebumps
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) if i remember, the sox scrapped back and nearly won that game....lost like 10-9 after being down 10-0 they lost that game. I believe after that they went on a nine game winning streak
  6. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) No, we must hear more about the Yankees/D-Rays game or how Curt Schillings wife ran the Boston marathon while he pitched five whole innings against the Blue Jays. Those are the really important stories to hear about. I still cant hear enough of that bloody sock
  7. This will be a day not be forgotten
  8. I remember a 1/2 price game vs the mets in 2002. So much damn rain for a few hours. I was drenched in rain. We finally left at 9 I think it was. (thinking we would get tickets to a different game) I wake up the next morning to find out they played the game. :banghead
  9. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) thats also what i was goin to pick considering i have 2 yankees already on my team. castillo without a doubt dude
  10. My buddy and I walked through our entire row of people to get to our seats (our seats were the last 2 at the end) realizing this bone head move I was apologizeing to every person in my row who had to get up so we could get through. One was a cub fan and he made a comment ( what do you expect from sox fans) That cub fan was taunting stewart " shannon is a little girl!" ect ect 1 why the hell is a cub fan taunting the twins? 2 why the hell is he even at the game?
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Dig a little deeper. All of those players are signed long term or have their rights owned by this team for a few years. Not pk though
  12. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) Wow! Total over analyzing. When your said, "They're all white..." I thought you meant the jerseys, not the players. Huh. Am I under analyzing? Im just trying to put myself in a minority fans shoes. Sorry if I offended anyone. Really didn't mean to do that
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) They are the only team in professional sports that has a minority for a coach/manager and a GM. Plus their lockerroom is a virtual UN of players. Off the top of my head there is the USA, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, Domican Republic right now, not to mention Panama and Mexico last year, all being represented in 25 men. I realize this. But out of all the diversity in the locker room why market just one part?
  14. On the vote , "who would you rather have at 3b Valentin or Crede?" wedge : " Is death an option? "
  15. 1 Aaron Rodgers 2 Ronnie Brown 3 Alex Smith 4 Mike Williams 5 Braylon Edwards 6 Antrell Rolle 7 Cadilac williams 8 Cedric Benson 9 Adam Jones 10 derrick Johnson 11 Shawne Merriman 12 Marcus Spears 13 Alex Barron 14 Troy Williamson 15 Erasmus James 16 Travis Johnson 17 Thomas Davis 18 Dan Cody 19 Jamaal Brown 20 Mark Clayton 21 Carlos Rogers 22 Roddy White 23 Matt Roth 24 David Pollack 25 Demarcus Ware 26 Marlin Jackson 27 Khalif Barnes 28 Darryl Blackstock 29 Channing Crowder 30 Shaun Cody 31 Heath Miller 32 Odell Thurman
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) Depends on what you were after. Until Pods shows his groin is 100% and he starts stealing on a regular basis, I'd sit him. I'd probably go with Crisp just over Rowand, with Ichiro and Everett definitely starting. Thanks. I am leading my league in steals. ( I also have vidro , and figgins also) I think I will run away with that. Carl is not going anywhere. I just hope rowand gets hot
  17. I currently have ichiro, everett, pods, rowand, and coco crisp as my outfielders. Who would you guys start out of the 3 on a consistent basis?
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:59 AM) Sometimes you gotta feel sorry for Starbury. Let's hope Flip Saunders doesn't go there for his sanity's sake. Ever six starbury left minnesota I lost a lot of respect for him. I thought him and kg would have been winners in this league together. He left that to go to the nets :headshake
  19. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) You are over analyzing....sheesh We have to diversify which jersey's are on display now? They display what sells...there isn't anything racial behind it. It's like you are looking for s*** to b**** about... I don't think it affects our minority fan base at all. Most wouldn't even think twice about it. It only affects people that are looking for problems....whether they be Black, Hispanic, Japanese, or in your case...white. Im a sox fan , it is normal for me to v=over analyze. (at least I can point out my flaws)
  20. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:57 AM) I still think Frank's the guy on this team. What kind of reception do you guys think he's going to be getting when he has his first AB in Chicago for '05? I see nothing less than a standing ovation. If shingo got an ovation yesterday I see Frank getting one 10 times bigger. (btw I willmake sure to be at his first home game.)
  21. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:29 AM) 3. The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship are "I apologize" and "You are right." Truer words have never been spoken..... The main words in my relationship with my girl are : "how was your day" (then she rambles)so I follow with a bunch of uh huhs, oh really, interesting, Thats nice, etc.
  22. QUOTE(Be Good @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:55 AM) I think Konerko is the image of the Sox right now. With Frank being injured and all. When he comes back and does well he may get it back. Yeah I want frank to be until he retires. although it is just so hard to argue with rowand, mark, or paul. I love those guys!
  23. Prediction: half of jamals assists will be to himself off the backboard!
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 06:48 AM) As would 95% of the players in the NBA. Im just sick of Kobe :headshake
  25. Yesterday when I went over to souvenier booths I noticed the main jerseys being featured were Pods, Rowand, Kong, and Mark B . Umm they are all white. It seems that our image since 2001 has been diverse, have been Frank (well duh) , CLee, Maggs, and Marky. Is this a coincidence. Or am I just over anaylyzing? It does not matter to me(mainly cause I am white). It was just an observation. I was just bringing it up because do you guys think it could effect our minority fanbase? Do you guys think Frank is still the face of the sox?
