Jordan vs. LeBron, who you got?
rangercal replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2009 -> 01:31 AM) No way in hell is Lebron at 24 better than a top-5 player of all-time. I don't think he was talking about career accomplishments. I can make an argument that Lebron, NOW is better than Magic was at his best. Of course you can make a good argument for both sides. -
Although it's early, Buehrle getting the Cy Young

Jordan vs. LeBron, who you got?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 7, 2009 -> 11:05 PM) Agreed. I love LeBron and he is basically Magic Johnson 2.0 right now (probably will be better than him the future) but Kobe is the closest thing we will ever see to a Micheal Jordan, and he still won't be as good. LeBron just doesn't have that vulture/dagger mentality. He is more team oriented. Sure he has his moments every now and then but he really hesitates, especially late in the game or getting the last shot. This would be a poll for a different thread, but I am positive most people would prefer Lebron over Kobe. -

I wonder how many of the Lebron votes so far were from "Bulls haters" -
anyone have any doubts about the media being scum?

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 7, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) I'll believe that when the season starts & he's not on a roster. Sources say he has a significant bicep tear, so who knows if it's even his decision right now.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 7, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) WHAT? Magic Johnson averaged 20 points, 11 assists and 7 rebs. (Career) Lebron James 27.5 pts, 6.7 assists and 7 rebs. 4 more assists > 7.5 points Especially when you consider Magic was a 6'8 POINT GUARD, where as Lebron is a small forward/shooting guard. Its not even a great comparison because they both played very different positions, and Magic never was really the "scorer" with Kareem already there. At age 22 Magic averaged 18.6 points, 9.6 rebs and 9.5 assists. That's basically averaging a triple double. Lebron is good, I just doubt that he could play point guard as well as Magic, where as Magic could easily have been a SF/SG and even played Center. I love your points. I would like to counter with Magic's supporting cast. It's a lot more easy running the Lake Show, than it is to run with Mo,Z and Delonte West. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) This is a terrible argument. If anything, the defense is improved with just the sheer athleticism of the game today. These players are bigger and faster than the players in the league when Jordan was coming up. I think the defense in the NBA today is highly underrated. I think soxfan1 made the best post in the thread. -
maybe the best Drose interview I have come across http://slamonline.com/online/nba/2009/04/s...o-derrick-rose/

I love Lebron! He has an all around game, is unselfish, has the right attitude towards life, I can not think of one negative thing about him. With that said.... I put him at #2 (for now). He's way better than anyone in the league playing today and I'll even say anyone ever not named Jordan. -
Did you just say to move alexei to C?

Derek Fisher may miss some time too

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 6, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) Ya which is something I guess. The worrying thing is that Pierce and Allen have hardly played well so far. And Alston can't let Rondo do what he did tonight. I think the Celtics will nick a game out of the next 2. Alston will probably be missing the next game.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) The future is bright for these Bulls, but unfortunately it has nothing to do with Tyrus. damn it, please don't lure me back in.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 6, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) Wait, who's ingoring the facts now, the guy that's basing every comment on what he's ACTUALLY done so far or the guy talking about some massive leap forward in production that he's yet to make? And yes, it is a retarded argument because by that logic every young player that steps on the floor MIGHT catch up with a guy that's roughly the same age and is already out-producing him at a good clip. If Tyrus isn't a finished project at 22, then how can you definitively say by any stretch that Aldridge is at 23? Does that mean Tyrus stops developing in August? He hits a few more jumpers, that's about it. His points/40 minutes is roughly the same as his rookie rates and his rebounds/40 has actually gone down. He's still the same maddeningly inconsistent player with a low basketball IQ, we've just seen him a bit more this year. I never said you were wrong, but in an argument like this, no one(not even myself), is right. Tyrus will hit a 2 way road this off season, we don't know for sure which path he will go on. It's kind of like that with all players talented and young. Work ethic in the off season will be key. Unfortunately, I don't know if you can teach basketball IQ. That is a reason for some of my doubts.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2009 -> 10:14 AM) I said "much more". You obviously have the time since you're on soxtalk all day. "Won't improve much more" does not mean "won't improve at all". Ok. Enough with this nonsense. Go enjoy the Hawks winning the next 3 games against Van. That should be your focus right now. After that, it's Jay Cutler 24/7!

In the end, we end up with Derrick Rose (granted , some crazy luck) . So I will take our Tyrus-Rose Scenario over 3 Lamarcus Aldridges.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2009 -> 10:09 AM) No one said he COULDN'T IMPROVE. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) The sky isn't falling... Derrick Rose assures us of that; but if you think Tyrus will ever be much more than what we've seen, you're kidding yourself. Make up your mind. I don't have time for this.
