  1. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) He's all sorts of good things, hard worker, smart, good tackler, blah blah blah. But he's also slow and he's going to be a liability in coverage because of it. He's extremely slow. Whatever, if we dont draft a QB soon im going to lose my s***.
  2. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 07:35 AM) After 23 games last season, the Sox were 12-11 this year, they are 13-10. More disturbing, like last year when the bullpen got off to a great start and fizzled, there is a similair pattern this season. Also, what is it with playing at home?? Last year we started with a 5-7 record and this year 6-6? Even the games that we win at home are an intensive struggle. I beleive there is better talent on this years team than last years, but some of the same red flags are starting to pop up. Red flags? Where? This offense, defense, and bullpen are much much better than last year. Check out the increased production at 3B, LF, CF, RF, C and SS.
  3. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) MacDougal HAS been bad. 1.7 WHIP and a 1:1 K:BB ratio. That's just asking for trouble. Ehren has been excellent this year in Charlotte and last year in the majors he had a 1.17 WHIP and a 2:1 K:BB ratio. People will point to Mac's ERA as well, but he has let a number of inherited runners score as well. Great move.
  4. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) Forte doesn't seem like a wise choice. A RB, and an undistinguished one, when this team has so many problems? #3 ranked RB in the draft, basically a choice between the #3 or 4 QB or RB. They obviously feel they can get a value QB in the 3rd, so they took a good, workhorse type back.
  5. He was a top talent, and heralded prospect, he's playing the way he was predicted to play. IM happy AZ gave up on him. He could be a middle of the order hitter on this team for a long time.
  6. gotta like the outfield of CQ, BA and Swish
  7. great move, should help the bullpen get back to normal.
  8. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) If $12MM is the right number to sign him to an extension, I have one idea on how you might be able to swing by only increasing payroll by the league minimum. If you are talking about trading Konerko, you have severely hurt our offense. Crede is a good player, and is clutch, but he isnt Konerko at the dish. Getting rid of Joe, inserting Fields does more for this team than signing Joe to an overpriced extension, sorry.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) What a debacle that was tonight. We lose Buehrle for the series, and now have to start Masset tomorrow night. Him and his 3.75 ERA can go to hell.
  10. Ideally you would want a better leadoff guy playing 2B that could hit in front of OC and get on base. For comparison's sake, lets say its someone with the initials BR. 1. BR-OBP, possible speed 2. OC-good hands, hits oppo 3. Thome OBP 4 Kong 5. Dye this is where is could change us a bit. Crede and Quentin are both RBI guys, and Q and Swish have great OBP. AJ seems better at hitting to the left side of the infield, but also can drive in a few, and hits for contact. He also wears out opposing pitchers a bit. 6. Swish 7. AJP 8. CQ 9. Crede I like to split up the low OBP guys with some guys who see alot of pitches. We also have 3-30hr guys in the 6,8,9 spot.

    LOST!!!!

Why is everyone blacking out their summaries of what has already happened? I expect spoilers to be blacked out, not recaps

    LOST!!!!

I was under the impression that Ben went back in time to before Whidmore had his boat outside the island, as we know time on the Island goes slower than real time, so the boat outside the island is actually a few years past where the people on the island think they are. I was under the assumption that Ben traveled back to tell him that he was going to kill his daughter. Its all very awesome.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 10:43 AM) If we look towards the future and not just "we want to win this year", which of course I know we all do, Joe Crede should be signed and we should keep Fields for either 1B or DH. Actually if we are planning for the future signing Crede for above market value while you have a low cost alternative in the wings would be an awful move. Crede is going to command 5+ years at probably more than 12 million per.
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 11:01 PM) I know Ozzie likes cabrera as a #2 hitter. but lets be honest, the fact that swisher doesnt have speed basically negates what a prototypical #2 hitter should do (which i am totally fine with). What i mean is, how valuable is a prototypical #2 hitter, if we don't have a prototypical #1? I say we should leave Swisher at leadoff, let CQ bat 2, Crede 7 and Cabrera 8. I mean how many times this year have we been able to effectively use cabrera's "#2 hitter skills?" seems very sparingly to me. So why not get the guy with a higher obp in the 2 hole, who has some power to drive swisher in as well (since swisher is on base 40% of the time). If we have obp at #1, we may as well have high obp at #2 as well and hope the big boppers can hit some 3 R HRs...because theres no way around it..that is what we are, is a team who will win with the 3 R HR OC has been pretty good as a #2 guy and handles the bat very well in that spot. No reason to take him out of it. OBP isnt as imporant at #2 as it is at #1. You want a contact hitter at #2 who hits oppo.
  15. QUOTE (SoxWS05 @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 08:36 AM) Resign Joe Crede. Consider this his farewell tour.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 11:49 PM) Just a quick random thought... Everyone here accepts Crede as being a very clutch player, maybe one of the most clutch hitters in the league. Ye,t many fail to realize (or wish not to remember) that Crede was our last out in our only loss of the 2005 playoffs, that being Game 1 of the ALCS vs the Angels. Just thought I'd throw that out there. But yeah, anyway, the guy is clutch. I remember the at bat well. He hit almost the same pitch the very next night off the wall in left.
  17. QUOTE (max power @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) Quentin almost hit that out with almost no lower body. It was all shoulders and arms. Top hand, a ton of it.
  18. Rally Crede strikes again. Quentin is studly
  19. QUOTE (DonnyDevito @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) the yankmees have rocked Javy and Contreras. Heck, they've rocked Chicago's entire pitching staff. Floyd can't have a 2.nothing ERA all season long. He is primed to get rocked tonight. I benched him in my fantasy leagues. Yeah, they didnt rock contreras. Masset looked pretty damn good against them and so did Boone.
  20. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 01:18 PM) Rich picked himself up a heck of a QB for his offense in Kevin Newsome today. Great get. Typical Tressell fashion he grabs someone to tackle said QB by picking up Melvin Fellows one of the best players in Ohio. Also picked up Dorian Bell a 5 star LB and the top player out of Pennsylvania, and Jordan Hall a 4 star RB. Pretty good week so far if you add in All Big Ten Justin Boren. Chatting among the players that committed after the spring game was the top O-lineman in state Marcus Hall. When its all said and done, 2009 may top the #4 class of 2008.\ No CFB post would be complete without some good natured ribbing for the UM fans on here.
  21. The operator at the game was extremely slow as well.
  22. One day its our pen, the next day our starting pitching. WTF>
  23. Im hoping our new patient approach makes us effective vs Mussina tonight. I have the sinking feeling we are going to need alot of runs, especially since Ill be there.
  24. Logan Johnson may be 4'2" with maybe no real ceiling, but since I saw him play college ball, I've really like the way this little guy hits. Pushing a .917 OPS
