QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) Good job, Michigan. Learn how to recruit against the SEC. I need Bama to lose out on as many 5 stars as possible, and you're not helping here. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 11:22 AM) So they are able to do it with a short season and even more teams. The Ivy League & SWAC decline participation, but every other conference champion makes the playoffs. So nearly every team has a chance to win the championship. Yes, and the teams that make it to the further rounds of the playoffs play 13-15 games. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 10:43 AM) Da'Shawn Hand deciding between Michigan, Alabama and Florida today. Sounds like it is Michigan. Have to question a defensive lineman picking Brady Hoke and Michigan over Alabama. Its been Michigan for well over 6 months. The hat game is a formality, and the hype is mostly because Mike Farrell has been on this kid since 9th grade. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 10:18 AM) How many teams are in the lower divisions that have playoffs? 311 in D2. 442 in D3 Whoops that counted all sports. 123 FCS football teams 169 D2 football teams 237 D3 football teams I believe they all have 24 team playoffs. Double checking. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 10:02 AM) Well, you are talking about 5-10 teams that are actually good enough to win a championship. Every team from a BCS conference has a chance if they can go undefeated. It's teams like NIU that can go 13-0 and not even play for a championship that make the system so messed up. They cant even end up top 5. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) I agree with this, but lets be honest. Every year there is a chance for maybe 5-10 teams to win a championship. MAYBE. Giving 70 a shot is a HUGE step up. Allowing teams like MAC teams the chance to play for it would be a huge step up. Just give them a tiny bit of a chance at a shot. Right now there is 0% chance. In 2003 my alma mater went undefeated, destroyed a Big East team in a bowl game and only could climb to #10 in the polls. I would have loved to see a playoff system where you have a chance to at least knock out a favorite. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) You can't have a sport with 100+ teams and a 13 game season where every team has a chance to win a championship, regardless of the system. The only way for every team to have a chance to win the championship is to pare down the top division to 70 teams. Doesnt make it any less f***ed up. There are teams that legitimately cannot win a title, ever. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:41 AM) I don't think I said I would have put in anyone. By no means do I think they were the second best team in the country, but with the way the ranking system is, there's not really an argument other than "eye test" for anyone else. I didnt think Bama passed the eye test either during the season. They had one loss and barely beat Georgia and LSU, their OOC wins were western KY, FAU and western carolina. The fact they were in the SEC got them in the BCS title game and they clearly came to that game more than prepared. ND at the time looked like the best team in the country with those wins and zero losses, as well as what people thought was some legit NFL talent. As much as we all hate ND and their fans, before the blowout they looked pretty legit on paper. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) It would really improve the CFB product. Bowl games I feel like are a crapshoot. Sometimes playmakers start tocheck out with that month to go, thinking about improving draft stock. Coaches move around. But with a playoff format, I can't imagine anyone would take it easy or leave the program if they could have a Shaka Smart type run as a coach. How about the fact that right now CFB is the ONLY sport where not every team has a chance to win a championship. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:33 AM) I DO get the logistical difficulties for fans and students. But the TV revenue would have to justify that. How much would NBC sports pay to get rights to that? 2 gazillion? You could bid off each round so it would be a s***load of money. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:32 AM) So he was wrong with Wake Forest. Feel free to substitute barely beating Purdue, BYU or Pitt (in 3OT with every possible break) instead. They had a really good win, at home, versus Stanford, and a good win @ Oklahoma and that's about it. Their schedule wasn't cake, but it was far from difficult.* *Through no fault of their own, the perennially strong teams that they regularly schedule just happened to not be very good last year. Who would you have put in instead of Notre Dame? -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 09:25 AM) The problem is that the bowls make so much money for people that you can't just get rid of them or downgrade them. The biggest obstacle is keeping all those bowl execs happy. The plan I saw was that the bowls would be play in games which IMO would be just as good as what they have now. At least then it will mean something when the team wins. There would be something like 6 major bowl games and 1 championship game with rotation for all. Seems pretty awesome to me. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 06:31 AM) It's got to be Illinois. All this recent DePaul talk is just that, talk. No one wants their announcement leaked beforehand, so why not put out some rumors. After it happens... Then I can sit back and watch Illini fans validate how "Creaning" two players is different at Illinois than at IU, right? There is a reason its called Creaning. Nobody does it like the orange one. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 08:54 AM) Who deserved it more? Florida lost to a Georgia team that Alabama beat and then Florida got destroyed by a Big East team. Oregon lost to a Stanford team that ND beat. Kansas State got destroyed by Baylor and then by Oregon. If Notre Dame didn't deserve to be in the title game, then nobody did. The problem is the way conference tie-ins and bowl payouts work. MAC teams either get the big bucks in a BCS Bowl or next to nothing and a Sun Belt opponent in the GoDaddy Bowl. What NIU really deserves is something like a game against Michigan in the Outback Bowl, but the only two things they can get are something way above that or way below that. EDIT: Oh, and if NIU does get into a BCS bowl and somebody like Clemson is left out and is whining about it, here is my message to Clemson: Grow a pair and go to DeKalb and beat them next September and then you aren't in this position next year. Until Top 20 teams are willing to schedule home-and-home with teams like NIU, Fresno, or Boise, then I have absolutely no sympathy for them when those teams take their BCS spots. ND belonged there according to the rankings etc. Sometimes you just get beaten badly. It could be a team more prepared, more hungry or even more talented. It was a bad matchup and Bama exploited it. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) Eh, he's more like Dan LeFavour 2.0, and maybe more like 1.2. Big Ben was throwing for 400 yards in games and looked like a pro. I meant more like being the entire team. But I get what you are saying. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 08:17 AM) By using this rationale, does that mean that Notre Dame should never get a BCS shot again? They got humiliated in the championship game after running the table, so therefore they will never be better than that and can never become better?(and yes, I know they have a history, and they have won Bowl games) Programs evolve. NIU is on the upswing right now, they could turn themselves into something special. Getting a shot at BCS games by playing within the rules set before them always seems to be held against the lesser teams, I dont get that. Not sure about an upswing. They've been here before. Lynch is what Big Ben was at Miami. Good enough to win a good bowl game, but not the BCS IMO. -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 05:10 PM) Did you miss Wiggins shutting Parker down in the second half and taking over the game in the last 2 minutes? Or score more points per minute from the block and perimeter? Did you miss Perry Ellis putting up 20+ on Parker while shooting over 50%? Parker is a great player and had a great first half with Wiggins on the bench, but Wiggins is on a different level. Parker was out the last 2 min. I didnt see it that way at all. Maybe you have a thing for Wiggins and I think Parker is better. Parker was more noticeable to me during the game. He's physically ready to be in the NBA now and controlled the tempo for Duke. Having Ellis really helped Kansas and Wiggins while I thought it was obviously Parker was supposed to carry Duke. To me its a no brainer that he's the top pick with an extremely high floor. -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Wiggins doesn't need to dominate the ball to take over a game. He can impact the game in more ways than Parker. He's a special player. I dont feel that way. Parker is a physical presence and showed some defensive improvements. I think he is Carmelo at least in the NBA. -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) So does 92% of the national "experts". The crystal ball thing is hilarious sometimes. I like how those guys change their "predictions" moments before a kid announces so their record is still good. Just pick and stick with it.
