  1. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) I have sent my request to Balta that I be re-named to Corncat Pratt. I love it. Brokeback was a reference to the time I was thrown off a cow and hurt my back. Now, I am a corncat. haha what the hell is the deal with the corncat exactly?
  2. i applied and didnt get in....the extra curricular activities are nice, but frankly in high school so many people have them. what matters is gonna be grades and ACT/SAT, at least for the most part..the extra curricular stuff will get you the extra nudge if you are on the bubble....I had a 31 ACT, and i didnt have a true GPA because i went to a diff. HS that didnt calculate GPA after my fresh year...but i basically had all As for two years, but my jr year i had a C+ and a bunch of Bs so my grades coulda been better...That said I had a bunch of friends in college who had really similar credentials that got in. with a 4.0 i would imagine if she can get a 30, or a 1350 SAT (i think they added a section from when i took it, so whatever that would be over 3 sections...right about 2000 i guess) she would have a pretty solid shot. Its a tough school though, no doubt. Not sure if Medill is any harder or easier to get into than the others, but I would really recommend looking into it. I know at Vandy alot of people got in "backdoor" by applying to Peabody, the education school, which supposedly was quite a bit easier to get into. Then once in they were able to transfer to college of A&S. Make sure you do your homework if she does anything like that though, because some schools dont allow transferring between the various programs like that, and it may turn out that neither program is harder/easier than the other BTW if she ever had any aspirations of anything in sports, medill is the place to do it. So many prominent sports writers/personalities went there. Greenberg, Adande, Wilbon, Musberger, Rich Eisen....actually really for any type of journalism its a truly fantastic school
  3. OC, SS; AJ, C; Q, LF; Dye, RF; Thome, DH; Crede, 3B; Swish, 1B; BA, CF; Rocket, 2B. per reifert...also says paulie will get maybe the weekend off...uribe on DL, richar beginning rehab...and this pretty funny moment... meanwhile id even take swisher hitting .230
  4. just a comedy of defensive blunders from the pirates taylor made DP right back to duke...threw to second (not the greatest throw) but the SS didnt even catch it and they didnt get anyone out...ok they made up for it on the next pitch though
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) Did he just drop the ball? Does it matter, Cubs just dominate the Pirates. he dove kind of...most every player in the majors makes the play...was gonna catch it about 2 feet off the ground and then it just feel outa his mitt..... soto is hitting .474 against the pirates...268 against the rest of the league another pirate error lets in a run...i guess thats what happens when you have a career 1b playing 3b
  6. pirates have the worst unis on...i hate those so much... ugh nady blows a perfect double play opportunity...soriano must have lost track of outs
  7. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2008 -> 05:50 PM) RALLY CORNCAT can you change your rank thing from brokebrack pratt to corncat pratt?

  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) CQ got a fantastic secondary lead. i wanted to see the throw go through so quentin could light shoppach up at the plate....i believe quentin was a D1 linebacker prospect in HS
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) AJP just missed that. I want to see the CQ legend grow. that carried alot further than i thought it was gonna
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) Wasn't their last japanese pitcher a hot dog eater as well. HAHA
  14. QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) I don't know how you can play baseball after eating all those hot dogs. a dude i knew growing up and was actually decent friends with is now ranked ahead of kobayashi on the competitive eating circle...hes #2 in the world...from palos heights
  15. i can understand konerko cuz he has been injured and is aging...but im just shocked at how few balls nick swisher has hit hard this year...steroids or not, even with the juice you still have to square a ball up to get it outa the park...and swish just hasnt done it alot this year
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) We have a 13 million dollar singles hitter. not a very good one at that
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) Nice turn, didn't think they had a chance. alexei turns the DP quicker than even uribe i think...fastest on a sox 2b ive seen i think
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) No drop 3rd strike in that situation. even with quentin on the move on a wild pitch? is it only with 2 outs that dye can run?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) Bad call by Diaz costs Dye a chance to knock in a run with less than 2 outs. absolutely no reason for dye not to be on first base.....the ball was sitting in center field...dye had all day to run to 1st after diaz called him out
  20. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) So what's Hafner's excuse for being absolutely weak for this season and the past year? same reason as victor martinez having 0 HR
