he was safe...good call -
ive seen gordon play for the diamond dogs and justin play for the gamecocks each about 6 times, and i would have a few questions about gordon beckhams tools translating to the pro game (dont confuse him with tim beckham)...hes really small and i read a report that said he might not stick at SS and might have to move to 2nd or 3rd...Smoak on the other hand has just a beautiful natural power stroke and hes enormous...no questions there for me...

my god i keep going back and forth..i like both guys, and i can understand the arguement for one or the other...but i have no idea how anyone who is calling into sports radio or who writes the back article for the suntimes can say that rose is the easy choice....it aint easy thats for sure.... beasley on tape looks like a f***ing man...rose is a freak athlete...he does things guys his size shouldnt...very few guards (certainly not point guards) are as explosive and powerful as he is....on the other hand beasley is big, strong and powerful, yet is so smooth on the court and can score literally from anywhere...he runs the court well for a bigger guy too...this decision will be difficult

the stat sheet and my head tell me beasley (not that rose is bad)...but the overall wow factor of watching rose on youtube (not that beasley is bad) tells me rose... tough call, but a good one to have

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) I seriously had a feeling. As much as Beasley is going to be very good, I think you take Rose here. It would be hard to pass up a true point guard star and a leader which is what this team could need. It depends if you want Chris Paul, or a Elton Brand production guy. this is just my opinion...but i think Beasley has a better shot, by quite a bit, at becoming Brand than Rose does CP3

i would absolutely love either guy...but look through beasleys game log real quick http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36671 i know it was against sac. state and western ill, but 32 pts and 24 rebs and 28 and 22 are a pretty solid way to start your freshman year...then theres the 39 and 11 game against national champs at the end of the year, the guy had a double double in all but 5 games (two of which he had 9 boards) I think people fail to realize how absurdly ridiculous it is to average 26.5 points again (especially when everyone on the other team knows the ball is going to you) and 12.4 rebounds (lead the NCAA!) in the college game...those numbers are plain stupid with rose he only went over 10 assists twice all year, and to be honest for the most part memphis played a weak schedule Beasley is also 38% from the arc whereas rose is only 34 (which is bad for a guard, especially from the college length) Dont get me wrong i love both guys but i have concerns about rose's shooting ability, and for a guy who should be a great distributor, he wasnt prolific at it in the college level against weak competition and with a loaded roster around him, while beasley without a doubt the most prolific rebounder scorer in the nation I know Rose won't be a go to scorer in the NBA and thats not really why you draft him, but think about this...Rose's high in pts was 27....that was beasleys average!

victor martinez swings alot on 3-0... -
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 20, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) I'm in complete agreement with you. The number 1 pick means much more to the Bulls than just Beasley or Rose, they have opened up a bunch of different options to make their team better, and quick. no matter what...i think joakim noah is gonna benefit greatly from this draft, i really think he could grow well with either guy playing a sidekick type rebounder/cleanup guy

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) It's so hard to decide, so why not just take Shan Foster? funny you should say that..... my buddy texted me "rose or beasley" and i responded, "foster"....second round maybe? hed be a good compliment to either...

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Probably not, but this time it's actually justified. yeah for sure....broadcasters would be doing a poor job if they did not complain about those calls...they were missed calls plain and simple -
a couple days ago i was split as to which i wanted should the bulls get the #1...i ended up saying rose, but i knew it wouldnt ever happen...well now that it happened...i think i want beasley.....i would be slightly concerned about rose's jump shot....hes athletic no doubt and will be a plus defender...on the other hand beasley is probably poor defensively, but hes gonna rebound and hes gonna score no doubt about it...7'0'' wing span, ambidexterous, can score from anywhere on the floor....its a tough decision ...rose is a virtual lock, beasley has more upside and a bit more risk, but still low enough risk for it to be worth it IMO
