Suck it lady.

Paulie hit .185 with RISP last year. For every dramatic game-tying homer he hit, he hit into 3 bases loaded DPs leading to a loss (loss to Anaheim in the second game on that s***ty road trip anyone?).
-
He compensates for his lack of average with hitting when it matters more often than an average player. NEVER look at BA by itself. He also plays a SS position and not OF. if he could give you a Tim Raines-like OBP, he wouldn't be making 5 Mill. And why are you comparing him to an All-Star Bernie Williams? Bernie makes almost 3 times as much. Different player.
-
WITE, SSI is not an idiot. beastlyordonez....now THERE was an idiot. Heather Lee? Not very bright.
-
What are you talking about? Bernie Williams will be surrounded by awesome line-up protection and will put up 850 OPS AT LEAST. Did you watch Kenny Lofton with the Gaints and the Cubs during pennant race months in 2002 and 2003 when he actually had SOMETHING to play...and then in the playoffs? He was UNSTOPPABLE, wearig pitchers out big-time. Just because Bernie is not a 900 OPS player anymore and just because Kenny can't swipe 50 bases anymore, doesn't mean they won't be very good given the circumstances and a formidable line-up protection. I also expect big things from Matsui who's finally learned the league last year. 850 OPS and excellent clutch numbers from your #8 spot hitter? That will get it done.
-
In his prime, a 400+ OBP from a huge baserunning threat? Yep, that's gonna get it done.
-
-Watch his RISP numbers in 4 years with the Sox, even including the s***ty 2003. -Underrated defense. Check out his Adjusted-Zone Rating (article was posted a month ago according to which he was deservant of a Gold Glove.....not sure about that, but he was in the top 5 fielding SS in AL overall in 2003) -An underrated baserunner, who takes extra bases and scores from 1st and 2nd exceptionally well given his only average speed. -Solid bunter. -Clubhouse cheerleader. Yeah, I would say he is "productive". Not an all-star, but still a solid player. Better than solid if someone can convince him to GIVE UP hittig RH (OPS of 400 in 2003)

Ok if you prefer....."you little b****es".

I can and I do. Shilling is 37 himself, isn't he? And Pedro has been breaking down steadily, hasn't he? And Derek Lowe's 2002 was a fluke, wasn't it? And Keith Foulke is gonna fold in ALE, won't he? Garciappara has a bum wrist and his balls are in a Mia Hamm's vice, aren't they? Manny is pissed off at the world, isn't he? Varitek won't repeat and neither will Ortiz. It works both ways.

You people also need to realize the PSYCHOLOGICAL aspect of the game. Brown was pitching for NO-HIT Dodgers. That's a lot of pressure that comes with nearly every pitch. A 3-run homer given up in the first often meant a sure loss. Vasquez played for Expos who had Guerrero on the DL for extended period of time. Not a lot of offensive support there, either. Now put them on a team with a 1100-run scoring potential and their effectiveness will surge. Now, giving up 3 runs in the first 2 innings, means that they Yankees win 9-4 instead of 9-1. Brown, Mussina, Vazquez and Contreras are liteally gonna have to try NOT to win 17-19 games.
-
Brown's injuries had nothing to do with his arm or his back. He'll be fine.
-
Really good = 120 wins Really bad = 100 wins and Wild Card. Semantics. Lieber will be fine. It's been two years. It's not his shoulder and he's never been aboout velocity. Check out TJ recovery rate. Watch him out-pitch last year's Weaver by a lrage margin.
-
1998 Yankees were no spring chickens either.
-
Never seen him play. Do know he was one of the best baserunners in the history of the game. Very good OBP in his prime. An All-Star.
-
There is always a limit to everything. Yankees have a better pitching staff than last year. People who diss Kevin Brown never actually look at the stats-- he was one of 5 best pitchers in the majors last year. Contreras will have a 3.75 ERA next year - better than David Wells. Vazquez will have a 3.40 ERA - better than Pettitte. Brown will have a 2.90 ERA - better than Mussina. Mussina will have a 3.20 ERA - better than Clemens Leiber will have 4.00 ERA - better than Weaver. On paper, they win 110+ games. Let's hope they crush the Red Sox and then lose to us in ALCS.

Of course I did, silly. I almost died when I heard it and it's been a running joke (alongside other VS pearls) with some of my friends ever since. There are literally 20-30 other "gems".....equally pathetic, equally hilarious. Universal Soldier 2 and Vanilla Sky are awesome if taken as comedies. I regret all the bad things I've said about either.
-
1. Lofton (loves playing for winning teams and getting on base at 380 clip) 2. Jeter 3. A-Rod 4. Giambi 5. Sheffield 6. Williams 7. Posada 8. Matsui Brown Mussina Vazquez Contreras Leiber Rivera Quantrill Gordon

Me too. Pure Tarantino fun candy. From Nancy Sinatra's bang, he shot me dead on.... I only regret that I saw a trailer before I went in 'cuz some of the moments I knew were coming. I swore of watching previews ever again.

What?! "I swallowed your cum. That's love."

I guess I gotta see Gattaca (not to mention Gothika) now. Like I said, me and Uma Thurman go waay back.

A-t-t-i-c-a! A-t-t-i-c-a! A-t-t-i-c-a!

I liked Color of Money. I liked Mission Impossible. Jerry MaGuire had some moments. Magnolia, though it had very little to do with Little Tommy. Few Good Men. He used to be money once upon the time. Vanilla Sky is one of the worst, most snarkalicious (me and friends stil recite its dozens of craptacular lines) movies I've ever seen. I expected a good movie-- afterall it was based on an eerie original, made by Cameron Crowe, with a big budget, tackling big themes; it SO wanted to be smart and original and unique-looking.....and boy did it f***ing suck or what!! Cameron Diaz + Penelope Cruz + Jason Lee + 40yo Tom Cruise = insufferable AI-Vanilla Sky-FatManLittleBoy-- 8 hours of my life I can never get back......:puke

Yes, but Engelbert Humperdink works for everyone.
-
If they do that, Cubs will raise their offer to 2/16. 16 Mill is > than 10 Mill. Cubs offer more money. Cubs offer more exposure. Cubs offer much better chance at WS ring. Cubs are in the NL-- there are no teams with offenses of Yankee, Red Sox, Rangers and even Oriole caliber. Cubs allow him to actually bat. Cubs are his roots.
