Let's see: he hasn;t made a SINGLE play that he shouldn't have all year long but failed to make 5-6 he should have, costing us "unearned" runs and losses. Where is his D?
I am just describing what I am seeing, Chisoxfan.
I still say Frank lost baspeed and even when he hits it on the spot the ball overpowers his bat just enough to stay in the park. By comparison, Konerko stilll has excellent batspeed, but his "eye" is f***ed and mechanics are too erratic.
If by "fine" you mean "he already cost the Sox 6-7 "unearned" runs, then I agree wholeheartedly.
BTW healthy Sugi, Palmeiro, Grace, Snow, Spezio, Pena and many others knowck that ball down easy.
Still think Paulie's defense is all that? He will NOT be getting an error on plays like this one all. season. long....but Jose is the one who "can't field". Whatever.
No, Nolan Ryan was a freak of nature. McDowel (threw 270 pitches one fine game) was a greak of nature. Colon is tough but his mechanics are lousy and by modern standards 140 pitches a game is insane.
Except that Jose needs and wants to play nearly every day (I agree to let him sit against Zito and stuff) and if he continues to kill thew ball from left side, Mahuel will succumb. In 2000, Jose was respectable from the right side and now he is putting more focus on mechianics.
Let them battle it out. Graff has the edge for now.
Get used to Jose batting from the right side. He played all off-season putting emphasis on right-handed swing. Last year he hit a grand slam from right side. Graffanino's era is over.
Thomas has no batspeed. Just the last at-bat a 38yo Burks fouled off a couple 95+ mph fastballs out of the zone...a "new and improved" Hurt couldn't handle a 92 mph one RIGHT DOWN BROADWAY. Unreal.
Sorry, but you can't buy batspeed. Frank may be washed up.
Damn he could easily been 3 for 3 today. It seems like has at least one line-out every game. I know he had 2 in the first game at KC to go 0 fer. Crazy stuff.
Meanwhile, Indians just went ahead 2-1. 2002 flashbacks.
I was hoping HSC can shed some light.
Of course it could always come down to the good ol' paper bag test. Just sayin'.
Or is this Mark Grace/Ray Liotta type thing? "Money" Clayton is always keeping an eye out for Tinsel Town, entertaining offers and such..
