  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2014 -> 11:43 PM) Semien had a hit on Saturday. With that said, he's had his chances and has done nothing to earn staying in the majors. He's beginning to look like a young Gordon Beckham.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) Stay hot, Rick Hahn. Where is all this "great young talent" I keep hearing about Hahn bringing in? Signing Abreu was great move but it was a no-brainer. The Eaton trade was good. Other than that, not much.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 13, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) I see why Sierra was on waiver wire. But Hawk said Steverson told him he had "almost six tools."
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2014 -> 10:50 PM) I'll take my chances finding a suitable replacement if it means getting a big package in return for him. There's really no one else that can be realistically traded by the Sox that will bring anything decent in return. I could agree with your line of thinking depending on the quality of the big package. For instance i would never trade him for a package of the equivalents of Avi Garcia, Leury Garcia, Matt Davidson, plus a couple of other low level prospects. If I'm trading a top level SS like Ramirez I want top level players in return.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2014 -> 10:41 PM) This is exactly why you trade him....with a team very short on talent, you need to utilize assets that likely won't be on the team when they're ready to contend. Unfortunately, almost all of the trade chips have already been used. Then who plays SS for the next four years - Semien? You don't rebuild by trading your good players and keeping the mediocre. Now if someone will give you a potential top of the rotation starter, plus a powerhitting outfielder that can actually catch the ball, sure you make the trade. But you don't trade him for a bunch of suspects, or a flawed prospect. Good shortstops who can hit, field and run are not easy to find.
  6. This is why there is no way you trade Alexei unless someone blows you away with a ridiculous offer.
  7. "The more pitches you see the more dangerous you become." Marcus has seen a lot of pitches from Pomeranz tonight. ... And another strikeout.
  8. Base hit for Leury. 1st and 2nd two out for Marcus.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) At some point, even that's not going to be enough. He battled back and made the pitcher work, but he's unable to put the ball into play and use his speed. If he could just put the ball to the left side of the infield, he could pick up some cheap hits like Eaton gets frequently. Oh I agree. Just pointing out that without Eaton he's still probably our best leadoff option even though he leaves much to be desired.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2014 -> 09:12 PM) 46 K's in 142 AB's (not PA's) for Semien...whether Keppinger's 100% ready or not, they need to give Marcus a breather and a chance to rebuild some confidence in Charlotte. The problem is you have four middle infielders there now with Saladino, Sanchez and Micah. At least it took six pitches to get him out. Maybe they can trade a couple of those IF prospects for a good outfielder.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 13, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) My god that IF is clogged. Trade some of these IF prospects for a good outfielder.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2014 -> 12:04 AM) And that's why you don't want your worst hitter getting the most ABs. Good job Robin QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2014 -> 12:05 AM) Is Semien hurt? I haven't heard. Woulda been nice to see Mr. Clutch get a shot at the flamethrowing lefty. QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2014 -> 12:05 AM) Garcia just isn't a big league player. If Robin can manage in the big leagues without spending a day coaching in the minors, I guess it's not surprising Garcia is on the Sox major league roster.
