  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) Home with his new baby. I guess that's understandable.
  2. QUOTE(kane0730 @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) "on assignment" What is this "assignment" stuff? Polishing JR's shoes? Grilling hotdogs? Cleaning up the parking lot?
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Damn. Who's pitching? and where's DJ? Piss somebody off?
  4. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) that sucks....i start a different shift in my job where i have to work at 2. The same time the sox are on during spring training.....This means I'm going to miss every game that is played between 1:30 and 6:30 spring training and regular season. tape them.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Walk. 1st and 2nd. 2 outs. btw, CLee with another homer in the Brewers/Angels game. He's hit like 7 this spring.
  6. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) I don't recall many games against Oakland which were blowout wins, or where our pitching simply dominated. Whether our bullpen surrenders the lead, offense is shutdown, or some fluke occurence (Magg losing flyball in fog two seasons ago) there's always been a reoccuring theme of futility. Our troubles against Oakland disgust me becuase I take personal pleasure in watching Oakland lose, and Billy Bean supporters covering his ass. Nothing would satisfy me more than Oakland losing 90+ games this year. However, I'll probably hear" this is a rebuilding effort" in response. I don't see them losing 90 games - but I don't see them winning the West either. Angels all the way.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) I prefer el burrito mexicano in lisle, or taco burrito #3 on diversey and lincoln El Burrito Loco in Bolingbrook. boy, I miss them.....
  8. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) Cabrera's glove had better be great because that's all he's got going for him... .268 career AVG .316 career OBP (His numbers last season were even lower than his career numbers) I will take Uribe's glove and power in a hitter's park over what Cabrera would bring to the table. You overrate Cabrera BIG-TIME. Are you seriously going to say that Cabrera was a better free agent SS than Renteria and Nomar? :rolly I forgot about Nomar. Of course, all statements about his ability have to end with "when he's not hurt." I would take Cabrera over Renteria. But your point about Uribe hitting in Coors East is a good one. We did not NEED to upgrade at SS. But I'm also an Angels fan. Maybe I'm drinking the kool-aid.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Is it bad that instead of overpaying a guy like Orlando Cabrera that we instead moved Uribe to SS, his natural position? Not to mention the fact that Uribe's numbers blew away Cabrera's from last season. Agreed. That would make sense. Try to move Konerko at the deadline and trade prospects for Overbay. They obviously aren't going to need him with Fielder. Defensively, Uribe & Cabrera aren't even close.
  10. how big is Prince Fielder anyway? I heard he's huge...
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) THE BEST SHORTSTOP IN FREE AGENCY WAS NOT ORLANDO CABRERA. sarcastic? I disagree.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I think Joe would cream himself too if that happened. eww...... tmi.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Willie Harris has been willing to play SS and he already can play OF... id say he is pretty versatile. I swear some guy lights it up during spring training and he is suddenly amazing. News flash: last year was Willie's first full year in the majors and considering the fact he got inconsistent playing time he did a helluva job. Although he cant hit lefties, teams can go weeks without facing a lefty starter. But if he can't hit above .200, should he be in the majors? I think not.
  14. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Ummm...They (the medical panel) already stated that medically prescribed steroids are 10-100% lower than the dosage used by athletes to cheat. They aren't comdeming those instances. You should get your facts straight before drawing those conclusions. But it's totally subjective - and dependent on what athlete, what drug, and the dosage. All I'm saying is that not all steroids are bad - again, not all athletes abuse steroids by taking them - did McGwire or Bonds or Canseco - I don't see them having roid rage and killing people. But again - who cares how much they did? If someone wants to inject something into their body, as long as it doesn't affect me, they should be allowed to. I'm sorry for those parents that lost their children - but to blame steroids for their deaths (which were suicides, not overdoses) is failing to take responsibility for their own shortcomings as parents. Why didn't they teach their kids different? It's like those parents in the 80's who sued Judas Priest for their kids' suicides. It's just representative of what's taking place in our society with people refusing to take responsibility for their own shortcomings.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) For someone who doesn't care.. you sure have quite a bit to say.. :rolly You're right. I care about the issue - I just don't care if players are on steroids.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) HA! You got me. I still disagree however. Where are the Congressional hearings on all the other drugs (amphetamines, coke, uppers) that players are taking? This is such a trendy scandal. It's like Claude Rains in Casablanca saying "I am SHOCKED to know there's gambling going on here!" And steroids aren't all that bad for people. Sure, if you take them like there's no tomorrow, you'll die - but that's true with any drug. But if you take them (and there's many, many different kinds - new ones won't even be detectable by the tests that baseball (or the olympics) administer) under a doctor's supervision, and stay on a program - they are very helpful. I've taken them - for asthma issues. To condemn all steroids justl like that is very shortsighted. And they don't help you hit a baseball. One iota.
  17. QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) yea mcgwire and sam-me saved baseball :headshake Disprove it.
  18. I'm so sick of this hearing. I know no one agrees with me, but I have to say this - WHO CARES if anyone used steroids? I didn't hear people complaining when all those homers were being hit in the mid-90s. As far as I'm concerned, they saved baseball. What a dog & pony show.
  19. Dibs also pitched for the Sox in 95 when we were still recovering from the strike - and he sucked btw. That's still not an excuse tho.
