QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) Let's say we do follow the team's 4 yr avg & win 32 of our last 62 for a total of 97 wins. Let's likewise say we follow the team's 4 yr avg vs MIN & win 4 out of our last 13 vs Minny. Did I mention the Twins have 10 games with Oak & 6 games with Bos left? Adding it all up our 32W drop the MN to 22. Our 4 wins against MN drops it to 18. Assuming they split with the contenders it drops to 10. That means they have to go 22-10 (.6875) in their remaining 32 games just to tie us. Have you never heard of a 10 game losing streak? There is nothing locked up, I don't care how much you JUGGle the numbers.

QUOTE(Cali @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:35 AM) Well I'm gonna assume that he stands pat because he believes this team as it is now, can win the Wordl Series. I disagree. This team can certainly win the division, maybe even a first round win, but I don't think it can get to the WS as is. Crazier things have happened, I mean, who thought Florida could win it in '03? I hope I'm wrong. Assuming he's standing pat for that reason doesn't make sense, as we know he has been attempting to make trades. It's well documented they've been in discussions with the Marlins. It's also been reported conversations have taken place with the DRays, Yankees, Giants and Dodgers. That doesn't sound like a GM that WANTS to stand pat. Edited to add: To further me point, he's still trying to 'not stand pat'.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 04:00 AM) Thank you, oh enlightened one. Obviously, if Kenny doesn't make a deal, some dogs*** team was trying to fleece him and, damn, we have the best record in baseball. STILL!!! Are you saying KW should allow himself to get fleeced?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Except there's no way Terry Ryan is gonna to do that one. ..... unless Morneau was sent to Milwaukee in the Overbay deal.

QUOTE(Cali @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) For some reason, I just don't forsee any trades going down with the Sox involved. I don't know why, but I think KW is gonna stand pat, which is a mistake in my opinion. I really hope I'm wrong though... If KW does stand pat, it won't be because he decided that standing pat is what he should do. He will have done it because it was his best option based on the trade possibilities that were out there. In other words, teams were asking way to much for any trade to make sense. He's certainly been trying.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) I'd love to.. but during game threads is when I get my eyebrows plucked... one at a time with dull tweezers. Extra innings kids.. plucking wywbrows ... sounds like fun, I think.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Ah, the good old Cleveland Spiders. Revenge on the rest of baseball for 1899? Whoa! I'm impressed.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Again I am at work. There is no one here to b**** and moan to. I needed to get it out and that is why I am a member of SOXTALK. It is a great place to discuse, vent, and give opinions and comments. Can't we just hug and make up! I said I apologize.

Bostojn puts Trot Nixon on DL .. FYI.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) I am at work. I was on a call, when I got off of the call to check the game Jon was out and Cotts was in. I could not have said anything before the fact. If I was not on a call it would have been typed. As I said, call it first or not at all. No comment would have been the best comment under the circumstances. Some people around here have a tendency to b**** and moan after the fact .. like they know it all ... and it sucks. If what you are saying is true, I apologize, but I hate that s***.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) unfortunately that's the way things go here of late. Everyone wants gload in and freak out over him making a mistake. Everyone calls ozzie out for leaving starters in for too long, they jump on ozzie now. When did this board turn to s***? I "freaked out" after the error. But it was dripping with sarcasm due to all the Konerko bashing. I know Gload is a good glove.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) "Thats Bush" What are you talking about it is an opinion. That is what makes baseball so great. Fans get involved and have opinions. CHILL OUT! No I won't chill out. You expressed an opinion after things went to s***. Be a man and call it before that happens. That is bush. I said once and I'll say it again.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) um, i think a lot of people though jon was doing just fine and could have stayed in. myself being one of them. just bc it wasnt typed for the masses to see doesnt mean thats not what was though. If that's what you think ... say so while the reliver is warming up. After that fact ain't worth a s***.
-
QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Just because I did not type it does not mean that I was'nt thinking it. It's second guessing. That's bush.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) did you see the game yesterday and konerko's attempts at trying to field a groundball. Gload is a very good fielder. I noticed.
-
QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Poor poor Jon. He only had 86 pitches and could have gone 1 more inning. Now he gets nothing because Ozzie is a turd and took him out. That s*** ain't worth a damn after the fact. Call it before s*** hits the fan, or don't call it at all.

So much for Garland making history. Damn!

f*** me Running. I hate Mike Sweeney!

QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Was it a throwing error or a missed grounder? Routine play or a tough chance? Think Bill Buckner in the '86 World Series.

Runners on 1st and 3rd.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Ross Gload, my hero. One play. One game. That is criteria around here for saying ... f*** GLOAD! PAULY WOULDA HAD THAT!

Shades of Billy Buckner.

Two interesting bits of info from the ESPN crew. First, Buehrle and Garland have a bet going on who allows the fewest unintentional walks this season. They are currently tied at 26. I love this!!!! Second, if Garland gets this win, he will be one of 4 pitchers to get 16 wins in his first 20 starts of a season. The others ... Luis Tiant, Vida Blue, Bob Gibson. Not bad company.
