QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) OK, I'm leaving for Vegas Sunday morning, but I don't want to miss posting my knee jerk reaction to any trade, or lack thereof by KW. So I'm just going to post 2 items here, generic approval of KW and a rip job of KW. I usually like to post reactionary then regret them later and don't want to miss my opportunity... Wow, great trade KW!!! I'm so f'n pumped right now. I love how agressive you are, you really addressed a need for this team. Jesus KW, you suck. I can't believe that trade (or that you didn't make a trade). You are nothing but a fluke GM who deserves to be fired. Thanks guys!! Planning ahead and taking the neccesary procedures. I like it.

Delucci is a good ballplayer, but he's the classic example of a guy you could overpay ... drastically ... for if you are not acreful.

QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Basically anyone signed for more than the rest of the year at a high salary will make it through. BTW, this is somewhat tangential, but did anyone hear Steve Phillips try to explain the waiver process to some 10 year old kid during the Sox/Royals game on ESPN the other day? Hilariously bad...no wonder the Mets canned his ass. I heard it. I think the kid knew more about waivers before he tried to educate the kid then after. Pathetic.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) juggsy, i think the schmidt thing is ia pipedream, i think it might happen for real...im readin some places that the sox are higher on schmidt than burnett. this could be classic KW too, get everyone to think you are goin after AJ, then slide in and get schmidt. the GM and 3 scouts dont jsut go to watch a guy if there isnt serious interest. if i had to bet, id think schmidt is more likely to happen than burnett. i think hes closer to a true top line stud than burnett is anyways, and thats what Kw wants 100% agreement. Especially since Burnett appears to be unwilling to sign an extension.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) wow bud smith...has there ever been a worse pitcher to throw a no-no Bo Belinski?

Welcome to Soxtalk, SoxFaninDallas. Since this thread has been moved, I'm going to delete your second one. Oops. Wrong forum. Someone else will have to delete that.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 05:45 AM) Wow... I hear that a lot.

I love the old scoreboard in that pic. Pre west coast and pre expansion. Very cool indeed.

He's scheduled to start Tuesday.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) All of that is factored in to the 4 yr avg's. All things considered the only way we can lose the division is if Minny at least splits with Oak & Bos, dominates us, & wins every series they play. Sorry Juggs, but your nuts. I've seen it happen too many times. 51 Dodgers 64 Phillies 69 Cubs 78 Red Sox ALL lost large leads late in the year. That lead can be gone by August 15th.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) It's not just that. Most bats were switched over this year from Pine to Maple. Maple is a lot softer and lighter wood and tends to break a lot easier then Pine. Thats why it seems like bats ae always breakin this year.....I would have loved to see Ruth with a maple bat.....he'd probably go through 600 a year I believe the bats were made of ash. I was a carpenter at one time and pine is very soft wood.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) Detroit's only what 4 or 5 games out of the wild card though. Getting Maggs back into that lineup has made it far more dangerous, and having Granderson hitting #8 made it a whole lot more deeper. Yeah he needs to work on cutting down the K's, but with the Tiggies still in it, I dunno how they can justify having Nook Logan and his 4 extra base hits and 2 RBI in over a month and a half. They've got Polanco leading off anyway, and they have Brandon Inge as well. Granderson probably should be hitting more in the middle of the order. Didn't Polanco go on the DL recently?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) I'm sorry but this is one of the worst posts I've ever seen in my just over 2 years here. Can you tell me why from what a half dozen appearances at the age of 21? Oh hell DB, don't encourage him. One idiotic post is enough. :headshake

Not to be an ass, but this thread is ridiculous. Who cares?

Wade is trying to save his job by not throwing in the towel and hoping against hope the Phillies make the playoffs.

I heard on ESPN earlier the deadline was 4 EDT and 3 CDT.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) These rumors come out of BOS that CLE is going to become a seller & offer Wickman & Howry. That makes no sense! They are just 2.5 gb Minny in the WC race & playing as good as Minny right now. Minny is clearly a buyer so how does CLE justify selling to their fans? The most likely contenders in the AL turning sellers are TEX & BAL. DET is playing better ball than both of them so I don't see them selling. In the NL the most likely contenders to turn sellers are WAS & PHI. MIL is playing better than both of them so I don't see them selling. Wagner is easily the most coveted talent of the 4 teams so all eyes are on PHI. Of course the bottom 6 are charging insane prices trying to create an expensive trade market. That's having a dominoe effect on the 4 above. You have to believe that price is going to drop quickly as the clock continues to click towards the clearance hour. I've also heard CLE might be shopping Kevin Millwood.

The Score should do something like this before they start these interviews: When we come back, we'll talk to Phil Rogers about the upcoming trade deadline and what he's hearing behind the scenes. Some of the topics we discuss will not be about the White Sox.
-
The prospects should get the defined roles. Shingo can pitch whenever. There's no need in trying to 'develop' Shingo.
-
If this would have surfaced to weeks ago, then maybe he'd get moved. It would be difficult to find matchups and arrange a deal Sunday afternoon.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) He looked spent in that 2nd inning, but I like the idea of stertching him out. Looks like KW and Oz are curious as to what he can really do and if we really need another arm in the pen. I have a feeking Jenks is gonna play a big role in the post season I'm hopeful that he plays a significant role in the Sox success. I don't think we can depend on it, but the possiblitility is a real one.
