The first few pages of this thread are a hoot! Ozzie's conceding the game. The bottom of the lineup sucks. Hitters 5-9 are pathetic. Funny s*** there guys. Thanks for the laugh.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) You see, Balance, you just never know Steff. Sometimes she will rip you to shreads and burninate you so bad. Other times, she will play the sweet, nicey-nice role. My advice, don't fall for the 2nd one... People are to damn touchy around here. Just saying.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) I see. I'm still meeting all the "personalities" here. Form your own opinions on the personalities here.

QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Clinton King's stats through today (July 22 - Friday) 70 G 257 AB 59 H 12 2bs 2 3bs 4 HRs (OUCH!!!) .230 BA (Double OUCH!!!) .324 OBP .339 SLG 32/60 W/Ks 34/35 R/RBIs It's tough to stomach this. Clint King's writeup, at draft time from MLB.Com, was the following: COMMENT: Strong, durable body. Build similar to Brad Fullmer. Slightly crouched stance. Strength in swing for future average power. Ball jumps off bat, power to opposite field. Powerful strides. Pop in bat. His career stats are attached for your viewing pleasure (Credit to The Baseball Cube.Com for his up-to-date stats). So...lightning in a bottle thanks to just one great college year? Potential unrealized? Underachiever?? Or, classic late bloomer??? Time will tell. The bad news for King is that other OFs have been drafted (Anderson, Sweeney, Young, Cunningham) that have more potential/upside than King, and that King has been really stuggling to get his average past .250, let alone hit for power, something he did very well in college. If King continues to struggle, look for the Sox to not wait for him. IMO, he has until 2006 or 2007 to get past AA until the Sox may cut him loose. He doesn't have the luxury of the aluminum bat any more. Whether he overcomes this remains to be seen.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) As far as I've heard the Marlins won't deal Burnett to anyone unless they also take Lowell. Koskie is on the 15 day DL, and Hinske mostly plays first base. The thing is we don't know what JP wants to do, I've heard mixed reports that he wants to pack it in, or does he want to make a move to compete for the division? I also am unaware of the Jays financial situation... As I stated in my earlier post, I said I was basically just throwing this s*** out there... If JP is smart, he'll pack it in. He's got three teams above him in the AL East, two of which are NY and Boston. If he gets past both of them, he's still got the O's to worry about. The odds are too long for the Jays this year.

QUOTE(whitesox89 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) another question. How come this is not on any other board. Not on one White Sox or Blue Jays board. Was there ever a link beside what he could have jus typed and not copied and pasted I asked in post number 2 of this thread for a credible source. Until I see something more, I'm blowing this off as BS.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) Iguchi should be the regular starting 2B, but Willie should be playing more often. Iguchi looks like he could use a rest, and Willie is a better defensive 2B anyway. Iguchi has been rested quite often throughout the course of the season. He's hit a speed bump. He'll be ok.

QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) I think Randa would be a better option for 3rd than s***ty joe. That my name for Crede, s***ty joe. One minute you're like wow, he ain't so bad.....then WHAM! yup, still a tool. Thinking that 's***ty drowninginflame' may be appropriate as well.

QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) From the july 16th trib: The Sox's pitching staff has allowed one run in its first two games of the second half. At the same time, Sox special assistant Bill Scherrer was in Toronto scouting left-handers Ted Lilly and Gustavo Chacin. This is true, they have been scouting the Jays in the not too distant past. But ... If they were talking this kind of deal, and this rumor is breaking today, you'd think they'd have someone watching Lilly last night. So .. when it comes down to it, who the hell knows?

QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) The Supreme Court, especially the Supreme Court here in Illinois, has laid out stringent search and detainment rules when dealing with people's cars, houses, garages, sheds, and the like. Less stringent search ONLY rules apply to public venues, subways, planes, buses, etc. If someone is detained subsequent to a criminal investigation, WHO IS A CITIZEN OF THIS COUNTRY, resulting from these less stringent searches, the same detainment rules apply. Thank you. That's good info.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) So, let me ask you this in reply: Which do you think is a bigger story: people manning hospitals or a car bomb going off killing 50 people? Which do you think is a bigger story: people manning hospitals or the abduction of 2 Algerian diplomats? Which do you think is a bigger story: people manning hospitals or the representatives of 1/4 of the people of Iraq pulling out of the constitution drafting committee because their membership keeps getting killed? Yes, there is a place and time to tell these sorts of cute stories about how we are helping the Iraqis. Some of them should be told. But they don't tell the story of what is going on in the country. They are anecdotes. You talk to military personell that have returned from Iraq, and they'll tell you this type of story is what's happening over there and the media is only telling one side of the story.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) For all those who are bothered by hightened security I only have 4 words. GET USED TO IT. Get used to being searched at random. Get used seeing heavily armed police in public spaces. Get used seeing canine patrols. Get used to it all because problems such as suicide bombings, random shootings and kidnappings are no longer something you hear about going on in someplace like Isreal or Beirut or Baghdad, it's coming and its coming to a city near you. So ... At what point do we stop accepting it and say that's enough?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) for example? what could they get from us, that we would realistically part with, to have it make sense form their perspective? I don't have a clue.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) why the Eff would Toronto do this? It depends on what they get in return.

QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) Frank (Toronto) Hey Billy! What is going on with the Bluejays. Do you think they will make any moves at all. Sample (10:43am ET) Their is a rumor out there that the Jays are talking to Chicago about a huge blockbuster trade that would send Ted Lilly,Shea Hillebrand and Miquel Batista over to the Sox See if you can get a source on this. A credible source.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) Very good point, but if he is healthy where do you put him? Who do you let go? Vizcaino? Jenks? Is it really worth giving up a lot to get Wagner? Look at it this way .. Wagner is a proven closer stud. That pushes everybody in the bullpen back a notch ... and you know they can handle it, because they've succeeded with more pressure in there current roles. Who do you let go? It depends on the trade itself. Personally, I'd keep jenks and scuttle vizcaino, but Jenks can just be sent down to the minors. I don't know Vizcaino's status.

Hermanson, as a closer over the course of a season, is an unknown quantity ... and that's a healthy Hermanson. He's been damn good, but can we expect that to continue and can we count on him with his back problems? That is a reason I think they might not be able to keep it up. If hermy goes down or becomes ineffective, then the whole bullpen has to shuffled, on the fly ... again.

There is no easy answer to this. Privacy is going to be invaded, as it has been. But racial profiling, however distasteful, seems to make sense to me. Yet, where does it stop?
