  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) Yes, but he is using Buehrle's 1 bad game as an example when people bash other players for 1 game. And like i pointed out with the other people the reason they were called out was because its been a lot more than one game when it comes to the likes of Konerko, Dye, and so on. But it was dripping with sarcasm.
  2. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Oh I know, but when you look at Oakland's team do they scare you? I dont know how they're doing as good as they are right now. On the other hand, Texas' offense is insane. All they need is their pitching to be just average. That's always the Rangers' problem
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) No as I pointed out above he made a dumb point. Their hasnt been a thread about Buehrle for a long time... Since someone made that the continuing slide and fall of Buehrle last season I think. The threads made about other players is because they arent doing well for a long time. As i went through each individual in a earlier post. This wasn't a 'Bash Buehrle' thread. It was a bash the stupid 'This guy has got to go' threads that pop up on this site all the time.
  4. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) Why? Because you're assuming i didnt read the whole thread and didnt get what he was saying? No, i did. And it was still a pointless thread. Actually, he made a very good point.
  5. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Very cold and hard, but probably the way Kenny will look at it. On another note, with Frank's age, the number and nature of his injuries the last few years, it would not surprise me if we won't see Frank again after this year. I'm not even sure we'll see him again this year. I'm not an expert but to me his swing and his running looked labored of late. It showed in his BA. I'm as big a Frank Thomas fan as anyone, and in light of the steroid situation I have more respect for him than ever. It just the facts, and what my eyes tell me. It's near the end of the line. Well damn. Of course his swing and running looked labored. He was trying to play on a bum ankle. That doesn't mean the ankle won't heal. He could be done, but we don't know that yet.
  6. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) I was in the 4th grade, but I remember like it was yesterday. After Game 1 euphoria. After game 2 I knew they were in trouble. The forgotten part of that World Series was Dodger catcher Johnny Roseboro shutting off the running game of the Sox. Of course, and I've said this a million times to myself and others the stubborn refusal of Al Lopez to give Billy Pierce a start. I even mentioned it to Billy himself the one time I met him. Lopez sure screwed up with that decision. Pierce was a gamer. He was just as good, if not better, than Whitey Ford. Lopez was a great manager, but that was just dumb.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Hermanson has been anything but overpowering when converting his saves. He has been fortunate so far on at least 5 or 6 occasions that that defense has bailed him out. Hermanson is not an 'overpowering' type of pitcher. His is, howver, effective. That's what matters.
  8. I had to manually change it to silver-gray, but it does look better than the blue.
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) To add to Al's post: SoxTalk favorite whipping boy Bruce Levine says this trade could go down within the next 24 hours, Sox have definitely not ruled out taking on Lowell, management is concerned about Frank being in and out of the lineup all year. He is still saying Brandon McCarthy and Marte from this side. I've heard/read just the opposite. That the Sox don't want Lowell, period.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) I wouldn't call Nomar a HOFer though. It's debatable. We'll see. Let's wait till his career is finished and all the numbers are in.
  11. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Noboby is pissed now but something needs to happen by the 31st I believe something will happen.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) Wasn't someone on our team hitting .200 at the beginning of the year. I could understand if he played the whole year, but he hasn't. I like the latest trade you proposed to FLA. Does FLA like it though? That would be Jermaine Dye. And yes, Nomar would not have finished with those numbers if he stayed healthy. He's too good of a natural hitter for him to stay in that kind of rut.
  13. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) I hear alot of talk about getting Griffey, but my question is where do you put him? The only way I can see taking him on is if we find a way to ship Konerko and having him play first base. Sure, Frank's out, but IMO Everett is a better option at DH than Griffey. I totally disagree with that statement. To start with, Everett's numbers from the left side are not good. We need someone who can supply power and rbi from the left side. Griffey fits that bill and Everett hasn't. Then, just look at Griffey's numbers this year. Very solid production. He'd be perfect in our line up.
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) Would the trade proposals that I made, be feasable? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...78entry793478 I wouldn't make those deals. I'd rather have Crede at 3B than Shae. I also wouldn't trade Jenks away. I think he'll actually be a major contributor to the this team THIS year.
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Cincy wouldn't have a place for Carl. He can't play a consistant OF, but when he does, it tends to be in LF. Unfortunately, Dunn is stuck in LF because he can't play 1b because Casey is there. Dunn is about equal to Carl in LF prowess, and I doubt that Cin wants to have Dunn and Everett in the same OF. Doesn't matter. They'd make the deal to get out from under that contract.
  16. Why does the term 'blow hard' keep popping into mind? :headshake
  17. The Sox could probably trade Carl Everett straight up for Griffey. As for who's spot in the line up he takes, it's obviously Everett.
  18. I'm shocked we didn't trade for Lilly last week. That would be the Sox luck.
  19. I'll say this much ... If we weren't driving toward a possible World Series, there's no way I'd BMac for Burnett. But we are, so you to go for the brass ring when it comes around.
  20. For some reason, I don't think Burnett is in our immediate future. Kenny's liable to do something that nobody sees coming. As his style has been in the past, Kenny flies under the radar. This Burnett talk is probably just a smokescreen.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) BTW, I really, really do hate Wirtz more than anyone, but just reading TSN and rotoworld, and almost half the teams having to buyout or decided which stars to keep and who to let go, the Hawks did a great job of putting themselves in the position there in. They can go to seller dweller to playoff ready very fast. The Hawks putting themselves in this position is the thing the fans were b****ing about when the last time there was a hockey season. Yet, I have my doubts that Wirtz will lay out anything close to maximum allowed by the cap. A leopard can't change his spots.
  22. Quite enjoyable. I like your writing style.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) So i have to ump a double header tomorrow (no shorts or anything...full regular umpire gear and pants behind the plate). Forecast around here is calling for 98 degrees, head index of 104. Ridiculous. I may melt. Tex, is this what Texas feels like? In October, maybe.

  25. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) just depends on how broadly you define "fairly" 'Harmless' is a relative term as well.
