  1. One of the Sox weaknesses over the years is that never played with a chip on their shoulder. I don't think Ozzie should "just take it" from Maggot. I'm glad he reacted the way he did. Lead by example. If Ozzie just takes it, the team will play with that attitude as well.
  2. Rowand's always been a slow starter. He'll hit.
  3. QUOTE(backman @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Best record is baseball, cant get much better then this, hopefully the sky is the limits! 11 wins AFTER the season will be much better than this.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Comets make an appearance and dazzle us every 80 or so years. Like Crede. Or like the Red Sox.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) Exactly. I mean come on guys.. if we can't agree on anything else in this thread.. let's at least agree that I know allllll about b****ing...
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) You are confusing b****ing with commenting on realities. No Jim. She KNOWS b****ing.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) Yas.. you should come into town on 5/7 so I can take care of both of you little gnats at the same time.. If you're bringing that whip ....
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Re-reading my post, I guess I didnt mean to write that he has played with the red sox since the curse started Sometimes .. I just can't resist!
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Oh cute.. the man with 3 million posts and the old fart are chiming in now.. this should get real fun real fast.. :rolly There ya go again.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) So it is with Maggs now. Maggs at one point or another has pretty trashed everyone and everything about the Chicago White Sox. But after this there is personal blood involved here. I think it will be someone close to Oz, which is why I think it will be Garcia that does it. I think he would be the most likely of the pitching staff to drill Ordonez. I thought of that after my post. Good point.
  11. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) The problem with public places is that they're full of the f***ing PUBLIC!!!!!
  12. From what I understand, the Marte-Lee thing was personal.
  13. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) No suprise Mccaskey's do not want to pay a 15 mil signing bonus to anyone. That's it in a nutshell. They'll trade down again. Book it.
  14. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Again, read Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them. You would think an insider like Gingrich would either a) talk to someone in the know before he shot his mouth off or B) already know the facts. He didn't know either. Sorry, Yas...that's not a mistake a public figure like Newt should make. You are right. But people do make mistakes, even those that are public figures.
  15. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) A lot of parents are also unresponsive/don't have much time. Since I'm in the secondary education minor at school, the state has us do observations in various schools in the area that are demographically and different in locations -- which is really cool & relevent to becoming a teacher. In the first school I was in, the teacher was telling us during the planning period one morning that a majority of the parents in the school work 2 jobs and barely ever have time to see their kids just so there can be enough money in the house to pay the bills & keep food on the table. So, he said it was difficult to get in contact with parents about what was going on at school and even if they did, a lot of the parents leave for work before the kid gets up and get back after they've fallen asleep. I dunno if there is a similar situation but it could be that some of the parents would like to have the extra time but can't just out of the sake of needing to pay the bills. (Then there are also the parents who have a bunch of cash but just overwork themselves to death while never spending time with their kid -- but that's a different discussion entirely) I can't argue with this. It's as relevent and as true as my statement.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) I get it, you don't want to restart the conversation just give a little f*** you, rub it in my face, I told you so. Gee Thanks :headshake The vigilantes were talking about the armed confrontation that was coming from Mexico, I didn't see that. The armed street gangs from Mexico, nada, didn't happen. As far as the money, the point I am making is a sane visiting worker policy is needed, that allows American businesses to employ temporary workers from Mexico and other countries to work in the fields. You will not get workers to travel the country for 9 months a year picking crops. They will not live out of their cars, go to the bathroom in porta potties, uproot their kids from schools. Our economy is too healthy for that. Since we have not had any terrorists attacks since they are patrolling the border, should we thank them for that also? Ok. You've had the last word. I'll not say another word about it.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) I disagree, I believe intently that he is a clubhouse cancer. Last year when he was hurt and they were playing the yankees, his whole team was on the top step of the dugout while he was sitting in the corner. 30 days later he was traded, and the rest is history. His new team looked like a favorite to make the playoffs as the WC holder, but when he arrived they nosedived. I firmly believe that he is one of the reasons that the Red Sox never overcame the curse, and I believe that he was a definite steroid user. I dont think he is a good guy at all. Hmmmm ... I didn't know Nomar spent 86 years with Red Sox.
  18. There's a special ambience about a ballpark ... and people are part of it. They are part of the experience. You have to know that when you put your money down to buy that ticket.

I didn't want to restart the whole discussion. Just that "The Sky Is Falling" stuff you screaming about when this started, did not happen. Which was my point at the time ... wait and see how it all works out. These guys did bring attention to a real problem and that was their goal.
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Why is it so hard for Ozzie to just say: I'm sorry he feels that way, but Maggs is not on this team any more, so there is no point in continuing to talk about him? This is bad in so many ways, especially when you turn on another Latino, especially a fellow countrymen. Why should Ozzie have to take that approach. I like Ozzie's reaction to it. It's appropriate.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) I am really getting the feeling that something is up with Guzman. He keeps getting hurt, and was given no chance to make the Cubs out of Spring Training this year. Now Hendry is trying to trade him for Uribina? I think we might be looking at a bust folks. Hendry turned down that deal.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) The cops there going door to door rounding up the moon shiners? Not a problem bothering honest AMERICANS as long as we nail a few illegals. Patriotic Americans will give up probable cause if we can nail some Mexicans Remember anyone who looks Mexican within 20 miles of the border must be up to something illegal. Now that the vigilantes solved that problem, let's send them to New York and follow Italians until they solve the organized crime problem. Did you notice how so many GOPer politicians were so careful in how they criticized President Bush calling them vigilantes? I wonder if Clinton said that if they would have been so careful in being respectful to the President?? The biggest problem is the capture of illegals along that stretch has gone way down. While the Border Patrol is busy keeping these guys safe and stopping any problems before they happen, illegals are just coming in. Nothing like diverting already spread too thin resources away from stopping illegals and calling it a success. :headshake The capture of illegals has gone way down .... maybe because they stopped coming because the border was patrolled.
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 06:51 AM) Just to clarify, Don't you mean I think the Secret Service is right to at least check into it to see if the artist is a threat. I don't think anyone would say the picture is a threat? "Its" is refering to whole incident or scenario.
