I think you are a tad bit low at least the first two sets of numbers how about 400 74? If Frank puts up those numbers .... HE can play CF!!
-
This could be a good pickup for the Mets.
-
This is one veteran catcher I'm glad we missed out on. The Brew Crew is going to be AWESOME!
-
he kind of flies in circles though i cant see him in CF...im really worried about catcher and CF..we are so close to winning this division but if the questions marks we have in those two positions dont come through it could derail the whole season We've got these good young prospects. Let's see what they can do. You can always trade for someone if it's determined the kid(s) can't cut it this year.
-
They supposedly talked, but KW decided that Leiber wanted too much money. Imagine that. It's like the Yanks got them a bargain if Leiber is even 75% as good as he has been.
-
I wouldn't trade Lee until I knew if Thomas was going to be with the Sox in 2004. Unless, of course, I could get a left handed bat that is just as good as Lee.
-
Hey dude, welcome aboard. Your brother's a helluva pitcher and I'm damn glad he's in silver and black.

White = 6th inning man Marte = 7th/8th inning man Gordon = 8th/7th inning man Koch = 9th inning man Glover and Wunsch are used when the time is right....Glover when White or Gordon had worked on about 2 nights in a row, Wunsch when either Marte has worked the same as Gordon/White or when there is a lefty that we need to get out. I think we're going to have an incredible bullpen this year - one of the best in the league, if not the best in the league. I can't wait for the season to start. I was thinking KW said White would take on Rocky Biddle's role in the pen. u mean long reliever? That's exactly what I mean.
-
All winter we were screaming for KW to trade for a number 2 pitcher. He does better than that and gets an ace, and some of you want to trade MB. I find an extremely puzzling lack of logic in that line of thinking.
-
Or, Baggs, you'd think they would want to be known as a "player friendly" organization... so maybe the some big time FA will WANT to come here for maybe just a little less money. Or that some players, (example, from what I've heard.... Brian Giles) would not have us listed in their contacts as a "no trade" team.

I don't agree with everything said above .... I'll stand behind my own points, thank you.

But JB has an absolutely horrible attitude. That would not be a good thing if it rubs off onto the youngins... I had always heard the JB had a great attitude. That's why Thomas and Durham were upset when he was traded. ididnt get that statement either....JB got along with everyone..except KW..cant blame him for that after what KW said about him after he traded him Someone from the front office always disses a player after they are traded. I, for the life of me, cannot understand that.

Section 113....that was a good post...but I gotta ask....do you know who is quoted as saying that first? Because it is a very good quote to live by Actually, I believe this quote, or a very similar form of it, can be attributed to Benjamin Franklin. I am not totally sure of this, though. If I'm thinking right....I believe it is Abraham Lincoln. I did a little research on the internet.... it was actually Mark Twain.
-
I agree.... In 2004, Thomas out. Carlos Lee at DH. Joe Borchard in LF.

This is one reason I don't understand the Rios signing. We needed someone that we 'know' can play CF. All we have right now is a bunch of question marks. Will Rowand be healthy and how effective will he be after the accident? Can Willie Harris hit big league pitching? Is Joe Borchard a CF'er or is the organization trying to put a round peg into a square hole? Can Rios handle CF defensively. Is Nunez close to being ready and can he play CF? KW is aware of this situation, as he tried to pry Giles away from the Bucs and almost got Erstad from Anahiem. Surely, he has something in mind to address this area.

No ... it's going to be "Closer by Koch".
-
LMAO!!!

We do, in fact, control Koch's contract for 3 years or until traded. If he's traded, that is still an asset we would not have had available in Foulke's case. In the playoffs... in any at bat, sometimes the pitcher wins, sometimes the hitter... in the case it was the hitter. No one can "come through" every single time. As for Foulke, the fact remains, that over a 2 year period, he lost the team some big games. Games that if we had one could have turned either of those seasons around for us. I like Kieth and had confidence in him. But that doesn't change that history of losing those games the Sox really needed. Enjoying the discussion, even if we do disagree.

the rowand story was off the mlb boards...the guy who posted it said it was in one of the papers..i didnt bother to confirm it because the person who posted it has never lied about anything to me before...but he did he read where rowand was behind schedule I can confirm I read that story too... just don't remember where.

I doubt that KC would trade him within the division. Just a thought.
-
I don't see this trade as a wash .... We DO have Koch for 3 years, if he's not traded. We would only have Foulke for 2003. That right there is beauty of this deal. As for the MJ part of the deal ... Basically, keeping MJ as a starter to give Olivo 2 more months of minor league experience is no reason not to make this deal. Since it will benefit us for 3 years. And that is assuming Olivo does need the AAA time. He may be ready, and they may know it. Crede was, that's for sure. Dealing Valentin off was dealing from a position of strength, so why not do it to make this deal. Foulke was good, but he proved not to be mentally tough ... losing big games for us. Koch blew a save against a championship quality team... big deal, it happens. Even Mariano Rivera blows a save occasionally... Gossage did it, Sutter did it, Eckersly did it .... You can't say Koch is a bum because he happened to blow a save in a big game.

bud selig just doesnt there..on the committee to decide to do with the expos his daughter wendy and reisndorf are both on it...like wendy wont do whatever daddy tells her to...desp[ite the fact that she is his daughter he gave her a friggen major league baseball team...what bud wants, bud will get im afraid The fact that this guy is in a position to sit in judgement on anyone (Pete Rose) and look out for "the integrity of the game" is pathetic.

This first surfaced with the Cliff Floyd trade. MLB has got to either sell or contract the Expos. This just LOOKS bad... even if it turns out be on the up and up.
