Don't you think things will be different THIS May? Honestly, I really do.

I even think Ed Herrmann was number 8. But that was a long time ago... I could be wrong.

Lee and Konerko for Delgado? When pigs fly!

Excited? .... Damn right I'm excited. I'm 45 years old and still get excited about baseball every year. Just like a little kid breaking out the old ball glove for the first time in the spring. I look forward to the pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training. I look forward to seeing the first highlight of a spring training game. I look forward to seeing the Sox on WGN when they show a ST game. I look forward to opening day with all the joy and optimism can muster. Then, by May.. reality sets back in. Oh well. *Sigh*

I'd hate to lose Konerko, but in my mind, he could be considered expendable. However, I think he has proven himself as a leader on the club. I feel that someone needed to call Frank out on that crap he pulled. Pauly probably shouldn't have done it in the press, but it was something that needed to be done.

Which Series are you most looking forward to?
YASNY replied to Bighurt52235's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm with you guys on the World Series ... That's the one I want to see. I'd love to see any game vs. the Cubs. I am planning on making it up to Chicago this summer, just for the purpose f catching a couple of games. I don't know when, yet. But I'll be up there sometime. -
I'd HATE to see that World Series.... the baseball gods would s*** on us... you just know they would.

Yeah, I've kinda picked up on the fact that she has her... ummmm ... stuff together.

And, personally, I don't think Ozzie has anything on Looie. Ozzie made more of what looked like the spectacular plays, but I think Aparicio buttoned down the left side of an infield better than anyone I have ever seen. Casey Stengel once commented that Aparicio, defensively, was worth an average of a hit a game.

I certainly don't. To start with, I'll agree with you on Jiminez. Filling Durham's shoes will not be easy, but the guy really looked like a ballplayer to me. Crede also, not a sure thing but I like his odds of being the real deal. As for Olivo, we got no production last year from the catcher position. If he hits .230 and plays quality defense, it's an improvement. Valentin's numbers have been going down while they jerked him around because of the Clayton fiasco. Put him at short, leave him alone, and it's good bet he'll rebound to his 2000 stats. I fully expect Lee and Thomas to improve over last years stats, and feel good about the chances that Maggs and Paulie can duplicate last year. All in all, there is a pretty solid nucleus to build the lineup around. We did score a ton of runs last year. Oh, I forgot CF... After April, Lofton was terrible. Rowand was improvement after Lofton was traded. He'll hold it down adequately. Don't forget Crede is basicaly replacing clayton in the line up so anything he does in an improvement to the offence. The key word there bieing "anything".

oh oh, don't let hsc see this. too late ldf i already saw it........olivo is da bomb.... he can hit....had the most trips for double a last year.. he can run.. had the most stolen bases (not exactly a catcher type of stat) in double a....and he can throw as you saw last season with his little stint up here.......i dont get why all of you are all so down or worried about olivo.... hes the real deal.. ive seen him in action and hes awesome..........believe me when i say we will be fine with him and sandy behind the plate.............and as for that cj s***.. tell me what hes done that was so outstanding since his departure here? absoultely not a damn thing.........that should be reason enough to not want him here.. that and the fact that his agent is boras and he will never be here again should just about end all the cj talk............ You been saying that about Olivo so often, that you about have me convinced.

The unspoken intangible here is... what do the Sox scouting people think about Rollins, and do they know something about Rauch that would make him have less value later than he does now. Rollins' numbers dropped last year.... sophomore slump or the beginning of a trend? Either way, I don't think of this guy as another Clayton. But, after considering everything at this point, I would not make this deal. If Colon is a one shot deal, we need JV now and will need Rauch later. If they feel the need to acquire a SS of the future, then they know they screwed up on Harris and/or Jiminez. And I'm not sure they will dish out the bucks to keep Colon here.

This has been a great thread.

First of all, GREAT post BrandoFan. You have picked up on all the intangibles that make Jose the main man, at least defensively, on the White Sox. Put him back at short, leave him alone and he will have a wonderfully productive season. Chisoxfn, these are exactly the type of mistakes Jose rarely makes, the mental errors. In fact, his baseball savy more than makes up for the occasional booted ball. I'll say this about his physical errors, someone mentioned focus and I'm sure that is the deal. His errors generally occur in non-crucial situations or when there is no one on base. It's like his focus picks up in tight games, runners on base, needing that next out type of situation.

Here you are, coming to a White Sox fan site and proudly proclaiming yourself a fan of the Cleveland Indians. You should be ashamed to be a fan of that team, not proud of it. The logo of the laughing Indian is hideous and insulting to a whole race of proud people. That laughing Indian is disgusting, and every citizen of the city of Cleveland should be madder than hell that their city is represented in such racially slanderous manner. Don't come back at me with anything about the Blackhawks or the Fighting Illini, either. In both cases, the American Indian is represented with pride and dignity, classfully. Class is something that franchise in Cleveland knows nothing about. Now take your pathetic attempt at trolling this board, crawl back to your beloved "Tribe", but do so knowing that your team is an embarrassment to you and your city.

Roman and HSC in agreement? Wow. But, of course, you notice that the topic was NOT baseball.

I'd have to say the Cardinals. St. Louis is a great baseball town.

YAS..the difference is rollins is now a proven commodity...rauch is still a guy that has loads of potential but has accomplished nothing at the big league level....rollins has so much more worth then rauch right now I understand the Rollins has proven himself. But if the Phillies scouts are really high on Rauch, and you have to remember, they only have Millwood for one year, they just might do this. As the old saying goes... You can never have enough pitching. do you think its a good deal for either team...ive heard of win -win trades...this looks like a lose -break even trade at best to me...if we were still in rebuild mode id be more open to it.. I look at it this way .... We can get a young proven quality shortstop that will hold down the position for years. Rauch may become an ace, but we seem to have a lot of quality arms in the pipeline. It just might pay us to do this deal.

Do all the people posting here really understand baseball? My grandma could play cebterfield...sure but she'd suck. As would everyone on thr roster not named Harris, Borchard and Rowand and even those three don't belong there in a good defence. Sorry to pick on you with the quote here Heather but your worst arm is in center most of the time. Daubach is marginal as an OF at the very best and that means only LF in a real jam. Sorry for the bitterness of this post here, btu I've had a crap night and just because a guy can play any pos in a video game doesn't mean he can in the real world. We suck at center and I would love to see Borchard play there, just for the optics of having such a giant there. Other than the tone of your post, I basically agree with what you are saying. And when I was talking about Maggs playing center, I was refering to an emergency type of situation. I certainly would not want to have him as our everyday centerfielder.....unless we could pick up Vladdy to play right.

That's too much money for Wilson. For that much money, let's go get Tejada. I wouldn't even worry about CF with Tejada at short.

Both of the shots that I opened this thread with, I was at the game and saw in person.... Another monster shot that hasn't been mentioned yet was that one Canseco hit into the fourth deck (or whatever) at the SkyDome in Toronto.

I'd like to see this happen too. It would be great to have Buerhle, Garland, Rogers pitch a 3 game series against the Twins. Those two quality lefties would tear them up.

I'm glad he opened his big mouth. Now, we just have to make him choke on his words.
