who will be the bust??
I think Crede is ready and will prove it. Rowand is a good ballplayer. I'm just concerned about the effects of the injury. Jiminez looked like a damn good ballplayer to me last year, but that's still to be proven over the long haul. Harris looked weak and I don't have much confidence there, but if he can start hitting, he'll be awesome. Olivo is gonna rock because HSC says so. That's my take on these young guys.

Sox 5th Starter??
Rex, you're right.... you can't promise anything. Things have a way of changing very rapidly and unpredictably. Still, Rauch doesn't need to be with the big club to pitch 10-12 innings in April.

Outfielder Ratings
Wood and Clement would be ranked higher than Buerhle because they get a lot of K's. I'd rather have MB than either of them.

Hsc, Wsc... Oh well... I had a bad night. LOL Thanks Wsc for posting that article.

Lineup/Pitching
Read what I said.... They do great against they lesser RHP's.... but those tough righties get them. It happens over and over again. It did in '00, 01 & 02. We need some LH pop in our lineup.

Lineup/Pitching
I think they should just break out Charlie O. Finley's orange baseballs for games in the Baggie Dome.

David Cone signs minor league deal with New York
I'll say one thing, the guy knows how to win. Even if he were to just be a mop-up reliever and occasional starter, I can see where he could be valuable to a team, especially one with a bunch of young pitchers.

Just think of it as Jose Day! ..... That ought to do it for you.

Sox 5th Starter??
No problem as long as he doesn't have the expectation of staying up in April right from the beginning...if he thinks he's got a legitimate shot, does ok, and is told to head on down because we're going to go with a veteran....well, I think it could hurt his confidence somewhat....don't give him any false expectations if you are planning on starting him in aaa regardless of how he does in st....be upfront with him....imo.... I'll go along with that. They should be up front with him. Tell him to pitch 4 or 5 games in AAA, then we'll bring you up. Of course, that could backfire if Loaiza or Heredia or whoever is 3-0 with 1.69 ERA on May 1st. That would be a good problem to have, though.

Lineup/Pitching
I agree. Daubach should be in there against those tough righties. Any of ourrighthanded power can guys can hit the mediocre-poor righties. But those aces give us trouble.

wut about chuck finley
I remember reading that the reason Finley did not accept arbitration, is that we wants to go back to the west coast. I can't blame him for that, but it could turn out to be a huge mistake for him.

Sox 5th Starter??
If the fifth starter only gets 2 starts the entire month of April, the Rauch SHOULD start the season in AAA. Let him get his rythem, get his feet on the ground. He can have some success down there, come up in May and begin his ROY run.

Good article, HSC. Thanks for posting that. I am really looking forward to seeing this kids play ball this year. They are all hungry and want to prove themselves. Gonna be a White Sox year!

30 votes at this point... none on Crede. I think we are all sold on this kid.

who will be the bust??
Considering that I had to choose one, and I did so reluctantly, I chose Rowand. The only reason I did that was because of the possibility that his injuries could mess up his swing, or take away from his power for a while. I like Rowand, but this injury is still a variable in this equation.

Remaining Pitcher FA's
I wasn't all that excited about the possibilty of signing Rogers. I'd say let's pass on the rest of these turkeys.

Wanna Rock the Vote Again?
I find it hard to believe that even that many people would vote for the Cubs.. of course they are doing so anonymously. Sox 62%, Cubs 38% as of now.

Frank
I'm right there with you on this one, people. Frank's gonna have a monster year.

Sox minor leaguers
We all appreciate you coming here and chatting with us, and will look forward to the updates. Have a great season Jim, maybe we'll see you in Chicago in September.

WHATS THE PROBLEM WITH THE HAWKS?
Basically, Mike Smith has spent his tenure as GM drafting crappy or unsignable players and trading good players for crappy players. That about sums it up, I think.

Bears QB
I'd really like to see them pick up Tim Couch. He's been in league long enough to know how things go, now. He should be just about ready to become a winning QB. I know he wasn't Manning from the start, but Manning did have a father that knew a little about being an NFL QB. If the Bears can get Couch for a 3rd or 4th rounder... Go For It!
