Reed has departed? When and where did he go?
-
I have a suggestion. When listing our minor league players like this, include, next to their names, along with the stats, something like Bats: Right; Throws: Right . Please don't take this as critcism, as you guys do a fantastic job. And, by the way, is Almonte a righty or lefty?

Great commentary. With all the hoopla and high fives, this puts things in the proper perspective. The Sox have strengthened themselves greatly, and did so without giving up: A. A member of the starting rotation B. Any starting position players C. Either of there top 2 relief pitchers (Koch & Marte) D. No top level prospects Think about that for a minute. Kenny Williams just acquired a 20 game winner without significantly weakening the team in ANY area. Amazing, truly amazing! Kudos to KW!!! However, we do have division opponent that is a very solid and fundamentally sound baseball team. You have to give the Twins their respect. They've earned it. Besides what was mentioned in the article, I feel there is one area the really needs to be addressed. We need some LH thunder in the lineup. The Sox hit right handed pitchers pretty well overall last season... but, they did not hit the GOOD right handers well. And. folks, those good ones have a tendency to be around in October. We've got to get at least one LH thumper, or that will come back to haunt us. Just curious, if KW thought to offer Josh Paul for Mike Barrett in that deal. That would have been a nice pick up and help the Expos clear some more salary. All in all, it's been a pretty good day to be a Sox fan, and those are seemingly few and far between. Still, that starting rotation suddenly looks DAMN good!

This is what Buerhle had to say after hearing about the Colon deal: "Go ahead and stick him in as the No. 1," Buehrle said. "I've always said I don't care about being the ace. I'm just one of five starters. I couldn't care less if I don't start the opener. I'll do whatever it takes to help us win. I see him as our No. 1 guy, and if I get thrown in at No. 2, 3 or 4, I really don't care." Can you believe this guy? After the Sox sticking him for $15K last year, he still has such a great attitude. I hope signing Mark is the priority before signing Colon. Get back to the negotiating table KW!

Osuna, Biddle, Liefer & 2 minor leaguers for Colon... We paid dearly for him. They better sign him. But. all that having been said... I LIKE THIS TRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't blame Ritchie for the poor year he had. The man was trying to pitch with a sore arm. He went out and did the best he could under the circumstances until the team shut him down. I hope he does well with the Brew Crew and gets his career back on track. And I still think he could have been an asset to the Sox in 2003. Especially at the price he signed for with Milwaukee. What was it? $650K plus incentives up to $1.4M?

The Osbournes aren't worth wasting my time thinking about... but I want to build my post total.

I'm picking the Titans ... I still think they are clicking on all cylinders, and after last week, may have destiny on their side. They burned me last week ... but I still can't pick the Bucs... especially in Philly. Brrrrr!!!! Titans vs Eagles in the Super Bowl.

I hope KW really nails this deal, just to make all you KW bashers eat your words.

The comment in Roger's column about picking up Flash Gordon is interetsting. One, he's a pretty good pitcher. Two, he is probably going to free up someone in our bullpen to send to the Yankees. My guess is that it will Marte, though I hope not.
-
Well, if we have to take him, maybe we can trade him to the Cubs. They could have him cheap as far as I'm concerned.

Let's not forget Anthony Thomas, Curtis Enis, and some of those s***ty tight ends we've had over the last few years. dont forget that great OT stan thomas..1st round pick who got cut his rookie year...and trading a number one pick for rick mirer..lol..the list goes on and on and on Whew! You guys are depressing me.

I basically agree with article, and have been saying that I believe our pitching staff will be fine ... as is. Sure, I'd like to see us pick up Colon, or someone of that ilk. But not at the expense of Garland or Rauch. I'm telling you, Garland is going to be a stud and take major strides toward that status this year. Give Rauch this year to learn how to pitch in the majors, and next spring he'll be where Garland is now. I like Danny Wright, but to get Colon, I would allow him to be included in a deal.

Can someone tell me why would we want Tatis? .... He's overpaid and a clubhouse cancer. We just got rid of one malignancy in Clayton, why take on another?

Sn Report: Sox Inch Closer to Colon as Market Dies
YASNY replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hope KW doesn't deal Garland, Rauch and Crede for those two. I'd join the rest of them that are calling for KW's head. -
It may be self-defense, but .... I have a friend, who's (currently ex) wife balled up her fist and slugged him 6 times before he backhanded her once. Guess who went to jail? ..... Ever since the OJ thing, the judges have been very hardnosed about domestic abuse. Finley did the smart, and as was previously mentioned, the correct thing.

Baldwin hasn't been good at all since he left here. Sirotka hasn't thrown a meaninful pitch since he left here and may never do so again. So that leaves us with Buerhle, K Wells, Garland, Wright and Biddle or Rauch. Kip started off well for the Pirates, until he had been around the league once. Very similar results then when he was with the Sox. He may yet turn into a very good pitcher, but I'd still rather have Garland over Kip. Basically, what this all boils down to is that we'd have simply one more question mark (Wells) to add to our rotation full of question marks.

3 for 4 ... and eating crow on the Bucs.

Awesome post CWSOX ... thanks for telling that story.

Since Reinsdorf is on the committee... and seems to suck up to Selig, we may get Colon for that very reason. The Expos are owned by MLB. Selig is the commisioner, therefore makes all the decisions. Minaya is the Expos GM, therefore is employeed by MLB, and effectively has to answer to Selig. Reinsdorf is the only owner in baseball to have a minority GM and manager. Minority hirings is one of Seligs pet projects. Since Reinsdorf is such a suck up, Selig may very well throw him the proverbial bone... Colon.

Confiscate the heels, chain her to the bed and imprison her there until shes learned her lesson. Show her whos boss! OK, maybe not that dramatic but dont be such a freakin baby! Fight back or something, just dont whine about it. But even without this, Finley is old, Finley is crap, and Finley sacrifices us a draft pick. Even tho thats probably the first guy KW will go after, I wont be pleased... Roman, for the record, if Finley did any of those things you mentioned, including fighting back. the it would have been his ass in jail. Hell, he did the smart thing.

Since when does the AL select an all-star DH... unless he's very deserving. The AL can plug any superstar into the line up just like the NL. I don't see the advantage of home field based on that.
-
Of course he can decline it... then they would be headed to arbitration.
