QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 02:09 AM) http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...teams=20~20~4~9 Fun ESPN trade calculator Davis to Chi, Iverson to GS, Brown, Gordon to Phi. Works moneywise, but AI would never agree to go to GS and Phi deserves to get more in return. Philly deserves more, but they are desperate, so they won't get what they deserve. As for GS....are you kidding me? The Bay Area is a big market, and Iverson would get 30 shots a game easily in the Don Nelson offense.

Let's hear predictions for Gio's Sox career...
whitesoxfan101 replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in FutureSox Board
This all depends on if we can get him to throw more strikes, but if we can (I'll say we will), I see him as a solid 3 starter, and hey, a solid 3 that's a lefty and very young and cheap......I'll take it. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) I would love for the Sox to go after Jayson Werth. The Illinois-born corner outfielder would look good out there against LHP if healthy. Yeah, Springfield boy. He hits the LHP's, and his power numbers would improve quite a bit moving from Chavez-Ravine to The Cell. We only have 39 on the 40 after dumping Edwardo Sierra, so yeah (although that might be a sign we want to make another deal).

Baron Davis=yuck, but I wouldn't mind getting a big like Murphy and getting Gordon out of town. We'll see though, I had a funny feeling the Bulls might jump into this fray. I know Pax really likes Murphy though.

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) Tampa Bay is laughing. I thought the same thing, haha. What an epic trade. As for the list.....the name Joel Piniero caught up attention for some reason. Career record of 3 games over with a 4.45 and is only 28. I know he's not some sort of savior, but hey he's a non tender with similar numbers to pitches getting 9, 10 million a year in this market, only difference is he struggled badly the last 2 years, as opposed to 2 years earlier in his career.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) From what I heard Lemming is a major douche, but like you said, he's a Illini lock in my opinion. My favorite quote from the article: "I (haven't) talked to anybody named Tom." He's a douche, and I have NO IDEA why is he so jealous of this Illini class. The ND class will still be higher ranked, it's not like losing Martez and maybe Hughes to Illinois is going to kill them. And I don't have McCray as a total lock, just feeling good about him. Now Martez Wilson and Josh Brent (who is driving 3 hours plus to announce with Tez) I have as Illini locks, based on those circumstances. A bit nervous about McCray though, but I think Illinois is the clear favorite.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) There is a new article that says McCray never talked to Lemming and hasn't told anyone his plans. I know there is little chance he chooses FSU, but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Of course he didn't. Lemming did the whole thing in regards to that article to try and get Tez to ND and McCray to FSU. He basically was just spewing BS in order to try and give Illinois' recruiting opponents negative recruiting tools, because the a-hole is jealous of what Zook is doing recruitwise. That may sound ridiculous, but it's a fact, I mean after all, Lemming IS PAID by Notre Dame. I don't think it will work though, Illinois is in too good with these guys.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) http://newsbusters.org/node/9539 Its lines like these by REPORTERS that make one question the agendas in news. Yes, I know, I post things like this before. Sometimes I agree it is just laziness on the reporters part, but this? Come on, her bias is showing about as loud as that pink thing she is wearing. 99 times out of 100 I'd agree with thoughts like these, but in the case of President Bush.....saying that he is an idiot in any form is really not opinion anymore, it's almost inarguable fact.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 03:43 AM) Alicia Keys Beat me by 12 minutes on that one. A beautiful woman that can sing, write songs, and play the piano is a winner in my book. -
Well when your games are on "versus", the original 6 teams never play each other, and one of the few potential hockey hotbeds is dead because of a owner that most people wish was dead, these things happen.

The defensive performance is really concerning, but other than that, I didn't see too much I didn't expect. I am concerned still about Rex, with the competition, he could easily go into the playoffs with 4 straight good games and a bye.....but I still don't trust him for s*** against real defenses. Nice to see him bounce back tonight though. -
Purcell is in the fold as well now officially. The Robertson decision is especially fun, as it leaves a lot of egg on Iowa's face. They basically told Joliet Catholic LB Kevin Rouse, who was a verbal, to go away (he is now a Wisconsin verbal) because they thought they had Robertson. Oops. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Gotta love Butch Davis, Marvin Austin is very interested in UNC now and is close to making UNC his final official visit. Now this... "Iandoli also said North Carolina head coach Butch Davis contacted Noel Devine last week." , I'm not counting on either, but it's fun to atleast be in it now. Devine won't qualify, and will probably end up at Hargrave next year. Austin would be quite a coup though, and I think you guys have a very real shot at him. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) ND has really made up some ground with Wilson over the past two weeks, but I am not sure if it will be enough. Wilson had questions about ND's social life, but apparently came away impressed(ND must have blindfolded him and flew him down to Miami or something) after his visit. With that said, usually when two players announce at the same time they are usually going to the same school, so I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson ends up at UI. ND is a lock for a top ten class, has a very good chance at a top five class, and might even have an outside chance at the number one rated class with some recent news from two top ten players(no matter which recruiting site you use). Everson Griffen(top rated DE in the country), recently stated that he is certainly not a lock for USC and said that they are even with Michigan and ND(everyone thought he was an USC silent). Weis made an in house visit after the USC game and apparently made quite the impression. Griffen is considering making yet another trip to ND on the twenty of Jan. Joe McKnight(top rated athlete/RB), recently stated that ND is in his top three with LSU and USC(everyone thought it was down to those two) and said that he will likely also make a trip to ND on the same date as Griffen. Landing both of these guys(as unlikely as it seems) would almost guarantee ND the top recruiting class in the country, and even landing one of them would give them a good shot. In other news, ND will likely receive a verbal from DT Ian Williams tomorrow. He was once thought to be a Florida lock, but Florida hasn't shown consistent interest as they wait for potential commitments from high rated DT. Williams recently took a visit to ND this past weekend, and came away impressed. He announced his date for Tuesday leading many to believe that he will commit to ND. Given ND's lack of quality DT, Williams is a great get. Yeah, ND is doing a great job. No shot at the #1 class, as Texas has had that locked up since about May, but they will be top 5.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) nice recruiting weekend for illinois. mark jackson, an offensive lineman out of columbus (via cincinnati) committed to illinois after his visit. jackson also had an offer from michigan among other schools. also, simeon's five-star defensive end martez wilson and bloomington's four-star defensive tackle josh brent have said they will make a co-announcement on dec. 20 at simeon high school. brent declared illinois his leader after this weekend's visit to ohio state. D'Angelo McCray also is announcing on Thursday. I think McCray, Brent, and Wilson (who will move to LB) are all heading to Champaign. That Zook guy is pretty good.

Chargers draft day trades: 2001: LT, Drew Brees, and Tim Dwight for Vick 2004: Merriman and Philip Rivers for Eli Manning Not bad, L.J. Smith -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) Anyways, my question, does Bondra have anything left to make a real contribution? As an all around player? I doubt it, but he probably still has a good shot and could only help this PATHETIC power play we have.

Seattle's defense is awful, there is no way i'd put them ahead of the Bears, New Orleans, or Dallas. -

The NFC winner is just going to get destroyed by San Diego anyways, so who cares. TD Dallas, Rome to TO on a lucky missed pick, and it's a game again. -

The NFC is so mind bogglingly bad that the Bears and our embarassingly bad QB might not be enough to avoid ending up in Miami. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Couldn't agree more. Purdue is a damn good team with a damn good future under Mr. Painter. I thought they were legit before today, because I had seen them on TV a few times and was impressed, but this sealed the deal. And they have that studly 4 player class of all 4 star recruits, all from Indiana, coming in next fall. Look out. -

2 more college hoops thoughts: #1. Purdue is legit. To blow away a 9-0 Misery team like that is impressive, and at 8-1, i'm nervous about them. Matt Painter is doing a hell of a job. #2. They did blow the 10 point lead and lose by 3, but after seeing the (B)uffalo (B)ulls play #2 Pitt so tough today, I think we have our #1 candidate for Kansas' undoing come the first round this March. They are a solid team and are a top 2 candidate (along with Akron) to win the MAC too, so hmmm.... -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) Point one: No, they shouldn't have won. For one, Boucher played crappy. Second, I've read that Minny hit between five-and-seven posts tonight. Literally. For them to hit that many posts and still score five goals, I imagine the defense was shoddy at best, although Cullimore and Wis seem to have played decently. Going into the third period, down 4-2, on the road, to a pretty solid Minnesota Wild team, and we get a point? I'll take that all day. Point two: Lalime should be back by the end of December. Apparently he's starting to work about a bit with the team and practice. Just FWIW. Thanks. I hope your right on Lalime, I consider any day off for Bulin a 0 point game these days. Sounds like it's a miracle we salvaged 1 tonight.

This guy on Sporting News Radio is saying his Bears source told him snaps were split 50/50 between Rex and Brian at practice this week, and it was kept silent since this is all closed to the public. I hope he's right. -
At least they got another point and Havlat is back.....but damn, sounds like they shoulda won tonight. I didn't see the game, but I've seen several that Boucher has played and he SUCKS!! Do the Hawks still have Lalime? I know they did, but he was hurt.
