  1. THE BEARS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE. THAT'S WHY WE TOOK THE FIELD. IF YOU WANNA CROWN THEIR ASS THEN DO IT. BUT THEY'RE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE. AND WE LET THEM OFF THE HOOK. *storms out* Who needs 1 line, that whole sequence was EPIC!
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) ? Well it was boring until that miracle comeback. But damn, those last several minutes, wow.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) Rey Ordonez. Ronny Cedeno.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) So, bad coaching on the other side of the ball is luck? When it's THAT bad, yes. I mean seriously, if the Cardinals run it every play and punt after it got to 23-3 and protect the ball, they win 23-3. The Bears created a lot of good luck, but really they had no business winning that game at all. However, this is a great sign IMO, to win a game like that shows it's your year.
  5. They still have Hendry as GM, and Rothschild will now stay as pitching coach, so nothing will change really IMO.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) The only part that was luck was Rackers missing two FG's. Every kicker misses FG's once in a while, we just got lucky that Rackers missed two today. You can't see great defense or special teams is lucky. The Cardinals should have ran the ball ever single play after it got to 23-3. That Bears offense could have never scored 20, ever.
  7. I don't even know what to say. That was a page out of the 2001 Bears playbook, only it was even luckier.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) It is? Your brilliance continues to amaze me, 101. Awesome. Hmm, ok, fine then. He's still a damn choker overall though, but then again, Thome looked like one too this September. And Frank's 1 for 7 in the last 2 losses to send us home didn't help either in 1993.
  9. LDS's need to be 7 games, great idea. But why less home games, it's not like the Wild Card has home field. That part is stupid.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) Well if anything we'll probably get a good "dugout" from this. Oh God. A mix of spanish, bad translation, Juan Uribe and his brother, an Italian navy officer, fried chicken, an SUV, gun shots, people getting shot, and self defense. That will be an epic dugout.
  11. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) And your "hard-earned" rep of being a complete and utter bonehead around these parts will be aided by this post. Huh? Frank has choked in every postseason series of his life except the Minny series with Oakland. That's simply proven fact.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) Uribe didn't go to college. He's got some eligibility left... Who signs him first, Miami football or Iowa basketball? Miami. DA U prefers the gun toting thugs, whereas Iowa basketball encourages rape and sexual abuse, which isn't up Uribe's alley apparently.
  13. santo=dorf: How the hell did you find this story?? This appears to be the first english site to find it, and you started the thread, so just curious.
  14. Not related, but yet again, sox talk breaks a news story several hours before anybody else even finds it. /sucking up to mods and site
  15. This doesn't matter since our starting SS NEXT year will be A Rod anyways....
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) sure thing skipper... what did baseball have this season. Mets, Twins, Tigers, Yanks, A's and Whitesox. how many good teams is that? And with the way the whitesox played the 2nd half they might not even belong in this argument. You are correct, however this is the worst year for baseball I've ever seen in terms of good teams. By far. It's an abberation this year for baseball, whereas it's an every year thing in the NFL.
  17. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) I'm not saying it's a bad thing Juice runs, i am just trying to discuss why the backs don't end up getting more carries. My bad, i didn't make it clear enough what i meant. Even if you think that, it's fine. I'd rather Juice run less and avoid injury chances, and see Pierre and Rashard do the work personally. But it's tempting with as good an athlete as Juice is.
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) 7"0 220 pound 2008 recruit (#9 center)Jeff Withey is on the brink of signing with the jayhawks. Cole Aldrich and him will be a good combo. Jeff Witey?? Awesome name QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) We'll agree to disagree. Strongly, strongly disagree. Fair enough, but let me get off the pure recruiting stars point here. Just looking at the program right now, there isn't a single guy that could be consider a major perimeter scorer other than Jamar Smith right now, and without Gordon, there isn't a lot coming in next year either (although McCamey is solid). The program has and will continue to have a lot of interior depth (Carwell is really, really good, and Semrau might be), but guard play wins in the NCAA, and Illinois is dangerously thin there.
  19. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) Illinois' roster: Richard McBride- 4 Star propect, top 100 recruit Brian Randle- 4 star prospect, top 100 recruit Warren Carter- 4 star prospect, top 100 recruit Calvin Brock- 4 star prospect, top 100 rectcruit Shaun Pruitt- 4 star prospect, top 100 recruit Brian Carwell- 4 star prospect, top 100 recruit Richard Semrau(preinjury)- 5 star prospect, top 20 recruit Of the other 3 players on their roster since day one who are not top 100 recruits, two of them are expected to start this year with one of them being arguably the team's best player. The third was a top 100 football player coming out of high school. The moral here, obviously, is that Illinois has done a horrible job of bringing players into the program, and are deeply screwed. That's a fair point, but a lot of those guys were recruits that the Illini only got because they lost their top choices. You saw the long, long list of Weber recruits lost I put earlier. I think your right that the Illini do have a lot of talent in their program, enough for Weber to do well with, but this team is not going to be anywhere near the Final Four unless they start getting the Sherron Collins, Eric Gordon, and Julian Wright's of the world.
  20. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) Does anyone know why Zook doesn't run the ball more, period, this year? Thomas should be getting 15-20 carries a game, and Mendenhall 5-10. EB should be filling water bottles the entire game (and he finally is now for the most part). The problem with Zook is that his spread offense is not the best run formation...and Juice ends up running out of it as much as the backs do. I like the spread offense for certain things, but sometimes you need to do some normal i formations and pro sets and pound the ball. Well, Juice has ran well since he got the job..... vs. Iowa: 17 carries, 39 yards (and the sacks skewed the numbers) at Michigan State: 17 carries, 103 yards vs. Indiana: 10 carries, 53 yards vs. Ohio: 17 carries, 96 yards However, your right. This team has all the ability in the world to just run it a ton with Pierre, Juice, and Rashard, and then only throw sparingly, using Juice's great ability to go play action and throw it deep, but they haven't done it. Oh, and BTW...it's a final, Boise State stays unbeaten, beating New Mexico State 40-28. NMSU does it NIU style with 0 rushing yards, and does it June Jones style, as their sophomore QB Chase Holbrook goes 50 for 65 for 526 yards passing. Sophomore Chris Williams had 12 for 188 and a TD receiving and sophomore Derek Dubois had 6 for 124 and a TD receiving. Hal Mumme, who is a scumbag and used to coach Kentucky, apparently has quite a passing game.
  21. This Boise State/New Mexico State game is amazing. Undefeated and ranked Boise is up 40-28 in the 4th. NMSU has 0 yards rushing, and their QB is 47 for 63 for 487 yards
  22. Rashard Mendenhall this year: vs. Eastern Illinois: 10 carries, 75 yards, 2 TD's at Rutgers: 2 carries, 22 yards vs. Syracuse: 5 carries, 32 yards vs. Iowa: 5 carries, 14 yards at Michigan State: 5 carries 17 yards vs. Indiana: 5 carries, 29 yards vs. Ohio: 7 carries, 94 yards Season: 39 carries, 283 yards (7.3 average), 3 TD's, 10 receptions, 140 yards, TD Now I know he's had a couple fumbles, and that he'll start next year with E.B. and Pierre gone, but can someone explain why he isn't getting the ball more this year? Between that and E.B. returning punts, i'm baffled, even with Zook the goof as the coach, it makes no sense.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) That Thome was brought up, ONCE again, for no reason. Trust me, I know who had the better season. I'm not sure how constantly bringing up ex players who we replaced with better players is relevant either.
  24. I'll wear a freaking Magnavox hat during the games if it means we have more money to spend on winning the World Series, so no big deal.
  25. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) An oldie but a goodie. So fitting for someone who vanishes whenever the chips are down like he does. Yeah, Frank had one of the worst playoff series I've ever seen against Detroit by any position player. His hard earned rep of disappearing when it counts will be aided big time by that series, despite what he did against Minnesota. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 07:42 AM) I'm sure Thome is enjoying his morning tee times.. So is Frank. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) What part of what I said is inaccurate? Check the numbers sir, Thome was better in every offensive category, so no matter how much the Frank boners don't like it, he was a better player than Frank this year.
