  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) And "what if" like expected Joe Crede came into his own this season at 28, and is going to be 30 HR, 95 RBI, .290 hitter, with GG defense? He did it this year, and could do it again next year. I agree with you, obviously if you could get a nice package, you look at it. However, the Sox are in the drivers seat, and should not be in any hurry to move Joe Crede. They should also not be in any hurry to give him a 4 or 5 year deal. Maybe I worded what I said wrong. I completely agree with part 2 of what you said there, no questions asked. And I HOPE Joe is actually just a 30/95 guy with GG defense that is a late bloomer. I really do hope I'm wrong on that one, especially if we keep Joe. However, the red flags make me very, very nervous.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) This isn't true. It is clear he was at least thinking about Indiana. Now unless Gordon is constantly lying to McCamey, the other recruits, and the coaching staff I think he will be an Illini. But stranger things have happened. There was a time he was thinking about Indiana, your correct. That time ended a couple of months ago now though, and it wasn't as serious as many thought. It was more a case of him giving Sampson a chance, and hey, that's more than fair.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Need? We dont NEED to trade Joe anywhere. If we want value for him, we do. Everybody seems to think this was a breakout year for Joe, what if it was only a career year? Plus, I don't like guys with a bad back and Scott Boras as an agent.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Says who? Me and my pessimistic mindset. However, we have more pitching to offer than anybody and could afford that kind of move. I just don't want to think about it and get all excited, to be perfectly honest. lol.
  5. A-Rod had the worst year of his career at the plate, Crede had a career year, and the numbers still obviously favor A Rod. Put A Rod where he belongs at SS on defense, get him out of New York, and he's back to one of the 5 best players who ever lived. If you want to turn that down because he's not blue collar like Aaron Rowand, with all do respect, you need your head examined. With that said, if A-Rod is traded, it sure as hell won't be to us. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) I would certainly welcome A-Rod here to play third. As would I, but he's a way better defensive SS than 3B, so I'd rather see him there of course.
  6. AWESOME thread, and a reminder of one of the many reasons we need to sell high and trade Joe this offseason.
  7. Very clever idea. Sports and marketing go together, and that's how it will always be, so who cares. We coulda got more money though.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) The NFL is so popular because the parity is not as great as in other sports. At any given time a city's team can win the superbowl, thats why its so popular. That and the game is amazingly action packed. Oh I'm aware that's why the league is so popular, everybody has a shot. All I'm saying is that the "parity" also waters down the talent, and the product itself on the field is a giant suckfest, with the exception of several very good teams. It is action packed, which is why I REALLY enjoy watching teams like the Bears, Chargers, Eagles, Colts, etc.....but about 26 teams in this league are unwatchably bad.
  9. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) He's going to IU, and everyone knows it. There is a better chance of Rose to Illinois than Gordon to Indiana. Only reason this story has been this crazy is the peegs dorks that are speculating and starting rumors (and that's not hating on the Indiana fans here, who aren't stupid). Gordon will re affirm publicly to Illinois soon, and the peegs dorks will go crazy, even though they will be fine since Sampson is doing a great job recruiting.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Then how do you know which teams are good and which aren't? Records, box scores, personnel, seeing the bad teams when they do play the good ones worth watching, etc.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) How do you know so much about the league if you think it sucks? You obviously enjoy it if you know all about these teams. I enjoy watching the NFL when the teams are good. I do not watch games that don't involved the good teams i mentioned (I didn't watch tonight's game at all, for example, however the box score makes it obvious it was ugly).
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) The Patriots haven't looked good, yet the Colt's who are coming from behind and playing like dog s*** are on your list. I'd say there is 3-4 good teams in the NFC: Chicago, Philly, Dallas, Seattle. And numerous good teams in the AFC: Indy, Jaxsonville, New England, San Diego, Denver, Baltimore, etc. Indy is 5-0 and has Peyton Manning. They are on the list. As for your lists, Dallas has no quarterback right now, Seattle hasn't recovered from the loss of Hutchinson, Brady has nobody to throw the ball, and was handed that game by a horrible Miami team, Denver has no offense, and Baltimore has no offense. And who the hell is etc? The NFL, as usual, has 25 or so teams that completely SUCK, which is why I don't understand the popularity of the product of mediocrity. Right now, you have the Bears, Eagles, Chargers, Colts (sort of), Jacksonville, and a pile of poop. I'm sure another team or two will emerge, but this league overall has a crap product.
  13. If the Bears don't AT LEAST make the Super Bowl this year, it's an embarassment for the franchise. The "parody" (mediocrity) that is the NFL leaves them a wide open road to the crown, since Philly is the only team in the NFC other than the Bears that have shown anything this year, and even the AFC only appears to have a few legit squads.
  14. It's amazing to me the NFL is so popular. The games and product are a mediocre suckfest to be honest, and the only teams I've seen all year that looked like they were any more than mediocre are the Bears, Chargers, Eagles, Colts, and Jaguars. That leaves 27 of 32 teams. Ouch.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) Fire. Which means NOTHING, no matter how much the moron fan majority says it does. Torre had enough fire in the late 90's apparently.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 05:42 PM) and nice to see him run behind a Big Ten or SEC offensive line......... His line play this year has been the worst of the 3 years he's been getting carries. What he's done is simply amazing.
  17. Offensive line sabotaged Wolfe last night, hence the subpar game. He'll go to New York, but he'd never actually win the Heisman. We were lucky to get a win.
  18. They could have dead Billy Martin and Jesus manage that team, but they will continue to fail as long as their pitching sucks.
  19. Pretty clear after today that the worst coaches in the country are, in order: 1. John L. Smith 2. Dan McCarney 3. Ron Zook (lost the game today by himself)
  20. How could the Yankees lose?? ESPN told me they have the greatest lineup ever, yet 4 and out?? HAHAHA, ESPN must resort to rooting for the Mets, they are all the channel has left as hope.
  21. QUOTE(GaelicSoxFan @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) I'm going to miss the clown sound effect that Mike Murphy uses when he refers to MacPhail as "Andy The Clown". Best sound effect of all time.
  22. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) If Girardi tried to manage a veteran team like he managed the Fish, they'd quit on him in a heartbeat. Not sure if that says more about him or today's moneyed athletes. Girardi just rubs me the wrong way for some reason - he has that Buck Showalter "I invented the game" stench to him. Agreed on all counts, plus both are just HORRIBLE in game managers.
  23. I never saw a man go 79-83 in a bad league with a ton of young talent, while being a total douche, and become so loved. Loria is an idiot, but Girardi isn't exactly a genius.
  24. As sad as it is that this guy is a homosexual child molestor (no Ozzie, he LITERALLY is!!), it's almost equally as pathetic that now he's going on making up all this stuff such as being a alcoholic, gay, mentally abused man who was molested by a preist.
