  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) Actually, if he didn't hit, he wouldn't hit into DPs. You suck
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) I actually agree that Anderson's defense is a little overrated on this board. He's a very, very good defensive player, but he still has a lot of improvements to be made to turn into a complete CF. I'd really like to see him work on his throwing, as he doesn't seem to be overly accurate with his arm right now. I actually think his arm is accurate, he is just overambitious with his throws home. Often times he thinks he can throw a guy out at home even though he has no shot, so he throws the ball home with no chance at it getting cut, so Brian needs to be a lot better with reading those types of plays.
  3. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) actually, you're pretty much wrong on all accounts. i think ozzie has done a poor job with the day to day lineups and the bullpen. i don't want rowand back for thome. you sure did read a lot into my previous statement about anderson A plus B normally equal C, however it's good to see that's not the case here.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Actually I see fun bad as being more like the Cubs right now, runs are scored horrible defense is played and they find a new way to lose every night. The Sox don't score any runs, they don't make horrific defensive or baserunning mistakes all that often and they basically lose one of 2 ways each night. I mean I love "fun bad" as much as the next guy but it's just not fun at all to watch this team and in order to qualify as "fun bad" the product on the field must be fun to watch in a sadistic sort of way. I consider watching this team sadistic at this point. As for the Cubs, they are beyond fun bad at this point to be honest. Obviously it's hard for YOUR team to be fun bad, but we meet all the qualifications right now. Hell, we are only 1 game better than the Cubs since the ASB.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) I will say that I fully expect our offense to mess up every golden opportunity that they have. The exciting thing is that almost everyone has been guilty of blowing a huge chance during this pathetic stretch. Exactly!! Fun bad obviously isn't fun, since bad is never fun....however that's the essence of fun bad. Expecting failure at all times, no matter how bright a situation looks, and then seeing the team fail somehow in new and amazing ways is fun bad. The Sox are certainly that at the moment.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Be careful, if you mess with Garcia, someone might have to "take you out". Yep, somebody might kidnap me, piss on me, and kill me. Then Ozzie will ask KW to sign him for the bullpen.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) There ain't a damn thing fun about any of this and I gaurantee Dan Bernstein would agree with me. It's not fun AT ALL, Dan would agree with me and you on that one. However fun bad is way different, it's not fun, but it's just so bad that you can't explain it and you in a sense can't even get mad at it anymore. That's fun bad, and is also where this team is at right now IMO.
  8. Oh Lord, did Ozzie actually say Twinkle toes is just "trying too hard"?? What is Freddy doing then Ozzie?? Oh wait, can't be dissing family right, they don't do that in Venezuela do they?? VIVA HUGO CHAVEZ!!
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) BTW, Konerko now has hit into 17 double plays with RISP this season. That's awful. He's also hitting over .350 with RISP this year. That's not awful. He's just so damn slow....he could hit .500 with RISP and hit into a dozen DP's plus in a year. Anything on the ground with a force play in order and less than 2 outs is an automatic DP. I just throw that stat out with Paulie, comes with the territory unfortunately.
  10. Would it be too harsh to call Michael Barrett's scrotum injury, which needed surgery (twice) to fix, a case of karma at work?? Next time, don't punch people in the face for no reason b****. /mean
  11. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) Please don't call the team lucky because of the AJ play. You know as well as I do baseball is a game of inches and breaks. C'mon. You aren't calling our Sox lucky champs. If we didn't win it all, I guess I wouldn't be as high on Oz, though I'd like to think just making the Series would have made me think he was a pretty damn good manager. We wouldn't have made the series if we lost that game though, that's the point. And we weren't lucky champs, but I'm just saying if that one play in "a game of inches" goes different, we might not even make the World Series. And if your letting your opinion of Ozzie be based on 1 play like that, I don't get it. It should be about his long term resume and how he manages a team, which isn't looking too good right now.
  12. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Name a better manager than Oz in Chicago baseball history. I'll take the guy with the ring. Tallest midget, and Al Lopez was still a lot better. And please answer my question.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) I mean I want BA to succeed and hope he is our everday center fielder, but I can see where Oz is coming from. As manager he had to be pissed at his piss poor first couple months. An automatic out in that span and without great speed, at least he hasn't run yet. As far as defending Oz I think he is the best manager in Chicago baseball history because he is the first to lead us to a title since the dark ages. Al Lopez didn't win it all. Neither did Durocher. Neither did Tanner. Oz did. I realize his putting Mack in cf has hurt us in a lot of games. But is that all on Oz? What options does he have, considering as manager he does not want Anderson out there every day. I just think his players are letting him down. If they have quit on him, I guess he deserves to be fired. I don't see why they'd quit on him considering he's regarded as a "player's manager." You know his not playing BA everyday and the decision to use McCarthy in pen was not all on Oz. It's KW who acquired Vas, necessitating the move to the pen. What would you think of Ozzie had we not won it all last year? Because if A.J. isn't given 1st base for no reason in game 2, we very well might have fallen short of the AL Pennant and World Title. What would you think of Ozzie had we not gotten lucky that night, and thus not won it all?
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) Joe Crede says hi Even with that disaster of a start, Brian is probably going to finish this year with a better OBP than Joe Crede did.........IN 2005!! People should keep that in mind.
  15. That's right, have the Sox gotten to the point now where we are so bad, it's almost fun in a sick way since you expect us to find a way to lose in a new manner every single night? I say without question yes, this team the last week and really since the break for that matter, has been Cub bad (and the stats agree, we are only 1 game better than them since the break). It's sick, but my friends and I just laugh and almost find it a badge of honor to live through this crap, I have lost the ability to be enraged anymore, which to me is a sign we are toast more than anything else I've seen, lol. Go Sox......in 2007.
  16. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 12:02 AM) How can you hate the one guy who brought us a world championship. I love the guy. He is the best manager in baseball bar none and the best in Chicago history. He brought us a title. I'm glad he's not sold on Anderson. I can't believe how much people on the Internet love a .240 hitter. Wow he's hit .300 since the break. Great. He's a .240 hitter. What did Oz say that was so bad. The guy has to prove he's an everyday player. And Juan Pierre sucks! I have no problem with you not being sold on BA, and damn Pierre does indeed suck. However, how can you keep defending Ozzie?? That pitching staff, you know as well as I, could have carried even the worst manager (Dusty for example) to a title, they were that good. To an extent he deserves respect since in his 2nd year as a manager, we won it all, however to say "he" brought us a title and is the best manager in baseball bar none and in Chicago history is ambitious to say the least.
  17. It is illegal in Mobile, Alabama to wear stiletto heels or howl at women in the city limits.
  18. The man hasn't hit for the past week, and if Paulie doesn't hit, he's going to hit into a ton of DP's. The body of work shows he's still had a very good season, but obviously a million double play balls and Paulie being slower than a stationary bike without a wheel can be frusterating to watch.
  19. Not a surprise. By November, we'll know of a lot of guys that have been playing hurt all season, and between that and a million other factors, our doom is nigh.
  20. He's been a lot better since Coop and the crew worked on his mechanics. This is a GREAT sign, maybe we can just dump Freddy and put Brandon on our rotation this offseason and be ok, assuming Buehrle's back doesn't fall off of course.
  21. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) And I shall smite thee! seriously Kalapse, he's hitting .230 And I would remind you that in June when there was talk of sending Anderson down who made the decision to stick with him? Who gave him the vote of confidence? Oswaldo Guillen. And if you guys would set aside your man love for Brian and read between the lines just a bit you'd see that this all got started with Anderson's "luke warm" reception to the idea of playing winter ball. That prompted Guillen to remind he's young five (so I'm told) tooled player that playing time in the bigs is earned. You guys act as if Ozzie was just talking off the top of his head and decided to call out Anderson for no reason. You don't send a guy that just went through his first 162 game season to winter ball to learn how to run and hit for power, first of all. And second, Brian would still be in AAA if not for Kenny. That has NOTHING to do with Ozzie, Kenny pretty much made him keep Brian up here, and even then he hasn't got nearly enough at bats. And you might want to check Brian's splits since June 8th before just saying OMG HE'S HITTING .230, LOL HE SUCKS!!
  22. The fact that one of the classiest and more underrated athletes of all time is going to be passed by this cheating bastard really makes me lose faith in humanity, and question if there is a God. Ok that's exaggerating, but not by much. Ugh.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Has there ever been a more confusing, infuriating and just miserable season than this one? Seriously, there's so many god damn questions that will never be answered and just so much s*** that has cost this team games that could have been avoided. UGH! Seriously, it was more fun in the late 90's and early 2000's when we just plain sucked and nobody showed up.
  24. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) anderson is overrated as a fielder by most fans on this board Ahh yes, an Ozzie defender. Lemme guess, it's not Ozzie's fault the pitching sucked the last 2 nights and you want Rowand back since he was blue collar, whereas Thome k's too much. Right?
  25. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) He's the exact same manager who managed this team to a championship and we all luved last year, minus the excellent pitching... ^^^^^^^^ QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) How the f*** is Brian Anderson dead weight? And so help me if you say his batting average is .230 I will strike you down good sir. This guy has a near .800 OPS over the past 3 months, which is pretty f***ing awesome if you ask me. Instead of focusing his anger on the one good young position player the white sox have perhaps Ozzie could let Podsednik, Garcia, Uribe or any of the other underachieving, s***ty assclowns on this team know that they need to pick the s*** up. It's so f***ing ironic that if Ozzie Guillen the manger managed Ozzie Guillen the player, he would have been out of the f***ing league 3 years into this career. Ozzie Guillen = Dusty Baker when it comes to young talent, I said it last year, I said it at the beginning of this year and I'm saying it again now. What a f***ing joke this guy has become. ^^^^^^^ again
