If you have an Upper Deck ticket from a Season Ticketholder, you can access the lower deck and stay down there the whole time if you wish. You can check the "Ticket Exchange" area on soxtalk.com if a season ticketholder is selling for that game. Also, you can check craigslist.com, ebay or stubhub. Regardless, since you are in NY, it may be an option for you to explore once you get into town. Or else negotiate/discuss well in advance with the other party.

QUOTE (mreye @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) Fines like these are usually per day until you get the proper permit. Someone dropped the ball! I'm assuming that the ramp construction started up again, based on the photo galleries on whitesox.com Anyone know what the Gate 5 project is all about? Seems like a lot of work for a gate that is "across the street." Looks like another catwalk being built.

Just to offer my story, I ended up with 4 in Sec 154 by waiting in line at the park. I was planning on waiting until the end of the game before getting in line so as not to jinx anything, but I felt comfortable with an 8-2 lead and left the game before the 9th inning started. Was funny seeing people like me running down the concourse to get in line. Of course, when I got down to the ticket windows near Gate 5, all 6 windows had a line of what felt like 30 deep. The first guy through ended up ordering 10 tickets and I said to myself "if everyone orders 10 tickets plus with people on the internet, I'm screwed." I was able to get my 4, maybe because people were ordering 10 and best available for 10 together may have only been upper deck. Those who ordered in smaller quantities would then get lower deck (within the first ten minutes before it all sold out, of course).

Just to bump a sox/cub thread back up...... for the 1999 sox/cubs series at wrigley, does anyone remember Ray Durham hustling to 3rd from 1st on an infield ground out? It was a grounder to the 3B and Ray was on his way to second. Ray may have been on a hit run (I don't know) but he just kept running and beat the throw from Mark Grace back to the 3B. It was one of many "hustle" plays that led to the sweep that weekend. Sox won that game (rain shortened and, yes, cub fans whined about that). The series culminated in the sweep with Mike Caruso's game winning HR, which landed in the basket.

On Friday the 28th, I went to The Cell at 5pm to buy tickets at the box office and noticed that the mural was raised up at the Brick Plaza. I call it a mural but I could also call it a super sized head stone. It is quite a site. The head stone contains various images of that final game in Houston and appears to be at least 10 - 15 feet tall. In the upper right hand corner is the image of AJ celebrating with his hair all spiked up and he has that "HELL YEAH!!!!" expression on his face. It's just really cool to see it on stone. If you are in the area, check it out. I only stayed for a few minutes, so I don't know if they are covering up the head stone. And, no, I didn't have a camera handy.

Sounds like you are heading down on your own. I did that last year, so I can help you out. 1. Rent a car - there is no "life" around TEP. Don't recall a hotel in walking distance to TEP. 2. Bars are around U of A campus, but TEP is not near the campus, thus again I recommend renting a car. Find out when U of A is on spring break - then don't go during that week like I did - no chicks around. Go to OMalleys on Fourth Street - sports bar with Chicago stuff. good burger, too. There's a few bars next to OMalleys within walking distance. If you run into the players at the bars, consider yourself lucky. Tucson is too spread out to run into them. 3. I stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott, based on a brochure from soxfest. One night was $85 (tax incl.) It was the best choice. Why? I got to meet Buerhle's dad, talked to him for 15 minutes. Down there, I heard Buerhle had that "career-ending injury" and the next morning I start chatting with a guy wearing a sox shirt and he proceeds to say "Mark's my son, he's fine, ready to pitch." 4. If you're going alone, be a little thrify and spend the $15 for a seat behind home plate. Seats in the grass in the outfield are nice but you're far away from the action. Before the game, head out to the bullpen, get some Man Soo Lee autographs, then go to your seat behind home plate and enjoy it all up close. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) So I have decided to take my spring break in tucson this year to spend it with my favorite pastime. For any of you that have gone down there before I could use some info on the lovely city of tucson. Whats the best hotel to stay in pricewise/location? What are the best bars to goto, maybe even some that the players show up at? Is it better to rent a car or just taxi around? What are the best seats to get at TEP? any other info would be great too....

I held off buying anything with the World Series logo on it, knowing my family would come through for Christmas. Didn't disappoint. Sox hooded sweatshirt with WS champions plastered across it. Sox fleece sweatshirt with the World Series logo on the sleeve (my twin bro totally read my mind. This was what I really wanted). Sox calendar, license plate frame, paper/pen desk caddy, Tankard mug and cash (for more sox stuff of course)

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) That chick Leslie Monteiro is ripping the s*** outta you in the comments section fyi. If you click on Leslie, you find out that Leslie is a HE and his occupation is a librarian clerk. Wouldn't lose sleep over a knob named Leslie.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) I don't remember him being a prick with the Twins. They said he could sometimes get on your nerves, but he never really was a problem in Minny. They just got rid of him because they had Mauer. The Giants he was a total prick I guess you could say. Don't matter about then though. All that matters is now and he's been great. To think I was ticked when Olivo was involved in the Garcia deal. Imagine the potential disaster if we had the 3 ring circus of Burke, Olivo and Davis behind the plate. AJ made Garland a better pitcher. So, take AJ's offense plus his work with the pitching staff and AJ is my MVP (Most Valuable PickUp)

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Anyone got a Cigarette?? f*** YEAH!!!! I hardly every agree with Ozzie....and I'm always wrong. What do I know? Donger hadn't pitched in what seemed like a week. It worked out keeping him in there. For tomorrow, go ahead and start Widger at 3rd and Harris at SS...this team would still find a way to win!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) Ozzie has said it himself that he really doesn't look at numbers and with Carl needing ab's I hardly doubt Timo starts. I expect Maddux to be his old self today, in light of all the spitter stuff. Timo should not be on this team, but he still is so it behooves Ozzie to put Timo in the lineup when he has proven that he can hit Maddux. Sox have always been in games til the end, so when it gets to the late innings, go ahead and pinch hit for Timo. Let Timo play RF and sit Dye. Sometimes, one just had to pull a George Costanza and "do the opposite." When everyone wants Timo on the bench, do the reverse and start him.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 5, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) I always look forward to the Sox trip to Toronto. Mr. Geddy Lee is usually sitting behind home for at least one of the games. me and 10 of my friends will be up in Toronto this weekend. I'll keep an eye out for Geddy and buy him a Molson. Our main goal was to taunt Koch, but we'll have to settle for Schoencrap.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Yeah, and one run was balked in. It was a great move by Ozzie to flip flop Contreras and El Duque. Contreras owns crappy teams - a bunch of his wins for us last year were against KC. Contreras probably would have crapped his pants against the twins last night. In a way, it was a big game for the sox on friday - I had written it off as a loss after Donger's implosion on Thursday - and here comes our highly touted "big game" pitcher El Duque and he was awesome.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) I wonder if the Sox want a healthy Davis over Widger or if they actually like Widger over Davis. Once he is healthy, I wonder if they will trade Davis or send Widger down and keep Davis as the backup. Comcast Sports Net reports Ben Davis cleared waivers. He has 10 days to accept minor league assignment or else he forfeits his salary and becomes a free agent.
