  1. That was the worst three batter stretch i can ever remember seeing.
  2. Getz triples off a great lefty. Getz is a gamer
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) 3/4 from NY is great, but it would have been nice to make up for the disasters in Detroit and Minnie with a shocking sweep. I'd be thrilled if we won another in Detroit and one in Minnie. But no way to b**** about 3 of 4 if we don't rally. CC has rebounded incredibly well since CQ tried to stretch the single into a double. Division's so bad we'll be able to pounce for awhile, we'll have our chances
  4. And by commit i just mean "pay up during arb"
  5. Peavy on-mound footage: very welcome sight
  6. I thought it might happen this year that Stoney would talk through HH's silences, or perhaps drag him out of them. But so far I think Steve is, perhaps like the rest of us, too scared to talk when Vesuvius goes silent.
  7. The standard here is he just got that K. He'll walk one in , then get the last out
  8. Lets talk about something besides this current game. I felt I was seeing a transition to having TorTong close next year, with either Richard or Poreda in the pen. Aaron especially if he could not get secondary pitches going But now, it looks like Matt is pretty well entrenched as a lefty setup. Also, the positions we need filled arent represented that well in FA this offseason, so perhaps we just bring back Jenks and take another look the year after?
  9. Peña strikes me as just a notch above the regular RP hacks. But we'll see.
  10. Becks looking good on outs It's crazy how even if he tends to have unimpressive but decent relief appearances like this one, Peña still impacts the franchise probably more than a 1B/LF Jose Guillen-type minor leaguer mightve. Not that we know for sure yet.

  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) From what I read, each hitter is able to access a computer program that can break down pretty much any situation and what a pitcher is likely to throw in any count, and pitchers have a similar program to let them know what to expect certain hitters to do in certain counts. With the statistical analysis overload that is the internets, these hitters have MORE than enough chance to review each guy specifically. They have the chance, but I would just wonder how often said procedure is skipped out on. Guy by guy leaguewide, I'm sure there is a big range of how much each hitter prepares for their day.
  13. Peña for the most part was Tony today and not Jose
  14. Mark gets some retroactive applause In a month: Do we have two 1s and 3 2s, 1 1 and 4 2s? Or 5 2s?
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) MB has been a full time starter in 2001. There was already a book on him. Yea but in the grind of 162 games, hitters dont get a chance to review each specific guy thoroughly. The atypical amount of attention Mark got in the nat'l press probably highlighted some of the things he does, as a bit of a refresher. And if anything it aids all those younger Yanks that have NOT been in the league since 01.
  16. The problem with Buehrle's increased attention recently is that all these ML players were watching him work the last two starts. Today the book is definitely out on him dam Tivo
  17. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) "Glad someone finally gets it!" Wow. Dustin Hermanson was pretty much Bill Goldberg.
  18. Huge DP. Bats dont fail me now. Just put some beers in the freezer and am hoping to enjoy it in the later innings as opposed to relying on it, so to speak
  19. He may have been out by a mile but I at least like our confidence
