  1. hopefully mark can at least save most of the bullpen tonight by getting thru a few quick innings. Ehren i'd like to see get a longer than usual outing
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2008 -> 05:34 PM) He has absolutely no power from the right hand side. If he can hit against righties, he'll be fine. last yr i believe he had the power from left side and the higher obp from right side.
  3. it's scary how obviously the book is out on Buehrle
  4. I think it's a bit rash to hear today from several sources that Cabrera is a rent-a-player. We havent played half a year yet. The Sox are kings of waiting for a guy to have a decent or so-so year and then pouncing with a 2 year deal. And because of the guy's own lowered expectations and age, he takes it. Vazquez being case in point. Reminds me of this from MadTV a few yrs back:
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 26, 2008 -> 09:12 PM) Alexei pulled the bat all the way back and swung. A true butcher boy is when you keep the bat in the bunting position and hit the ball with a half-swing (I think). thanks much, was afraid that q got lost in the shuffle
  6. also let me add that i'm an ozzie supporter, but this is just how i see it in this situation.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 26, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Yeah, it's kinda like blaming Ozzie for BA's inability to put down a squeeze bunt. not completely, b/c that situation is an execution problem, whereas this situation (the HR swings on a hit and run) points to a lack of player preparation
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 26, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) Oh come on....with that hit he pulled off in the 12th after the fake bunt, he can surely pull off a hit and run. Alexei's just got to do a better job of that....not Ozzie's fault... well, the fact that he was taking wallops at it the first time up, and wasnt in the second situation... shows that something was adjusted. in that first instance, there was something that needed correction. if alexei, an import rookie, doesnt know how to swing the bat in that situation....then you have to split some blame there w/ those who are paid big money to prepare players for situations.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 26, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Did I miss something? He had Alexei attempt a hit and run, and it shortly became painfully obvious that SexRam had no idea what that actually is So perhaps call it bad player preparation, if not bad managing. Alexei's not the most prime candidate for that, but then he pulled it off late in the game.
  10. Also: OC is so key to this thing. Need him getting on base and being, well, the closest thing we have to speed.
  11. Funny how bad this division looks. We're taking this thing.
  12. Hawk keeps calling that Alexei hit a semi-butcher boy. Whats the difference between that and a true butcher boy
  13. this game has felt like a twenty seven hit pitchers' duel.
  14. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ May 26, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) The American League Central is just not good. This game does give one that type of feeling. That said, some sleeping bats came to life for us today so hopefully that can hold.
  15. it's funny how they're intentionally walking all these guys as if they can hit
  16. if OC's bat is livening up then i can let this pass. CQ cannot do things poorly
  17. granted a DP machine was coming up next but oof OC
  18. H: "They say he has huge stones." D: "Huge stones are hard to move."
