GMs skeptical teams meet price for Robert

I'll take the credit for motivating Robert today. You're all welcome. -

When the call outs are as bad as Caufield's, it's not gonna hurt my feelings. I mean, Lance Lynn? -

I don't give a s%*#. Just calling out hypocrisy. I'm not one of these suburbanite goofs that's going to cry about it. -

These are just a list of terrible examples. Lance Lynn sucks and even in Cease's one not so great season, he was still very good for us. -

It's kind of odd that most of the posters here spend all day shitting on everything White Sox related, from players to coaches to people in the front office to people in administrative roles to vendors. I'm critical of one player and I'm the pariah. -

I never said Everett was misunderstood. Obviously he was always an asshole. He did hold his teammates accountable though. Carlton Fisk, massive asshole who held people accountable. AJ, even bigger asshole who held people accountable. You can insert all kinds of people in that role. -

Cease was great with the Sox. Lopez had turned it around with the Sox before the trade and was never as bad as Sox fans thought. Lynn still sucks and the others are middle relievers whose results are always volatile. Not a great post from you. -

A lack of effort was never Anderson's problem and couldn't give a s%*# about Anderson's personal life. I had no problem with Robert up until this year. He always trained like an idiot, much like Kopech and Moncada, but that didn't really bother me. My problem with him this year is the lack of effort, not carrying himself like pro despite being a veteran and moping in the dugout. I think fans are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think he's going to bring a monumental return. He's hurt all the time, his production hasn't always matched the hype and he displayed character issues. -

If Robert "steps it up" for a better team, that just illustrates his lack of character and professionalism. Imagine being part of the top .0001% of earners while working 6 hours a day and openly moping. -

The Sox are at fault for Robert's lack of development, but Robert is at fault for his lack of professionalism. -

One of the best offensive CF's is a pretty bad metric when you're a notably bad CF. In reality, Robert is an immensely talented player who doesn't play a lot, strikes out a ton, should be playing RF, actively mopes and alienates himself from his teammates by sitting in the corner of the dugout and pouting. He's a an oft injured baby. -

Was Everett a homophobe or was he calling out his teammates for being homophobes? -

That's the thing, his production has never matched the hype. Even his one excellent season is full of red flags. His k:bb ratio is alarming and his defense is declining rapidly. I would guess it's an effort issue, but that might be even more alarming. -

Luis Robert is probably known by no more than 5% of the population. He's about as far from a star as a good pro athlete can be. -

These are all crimes committed after he retired. I'm not sure how that's relevant to his baseball career and holding his teammates accountable. Super weird gotcha. Including moon landing conspiracies with spousal abuse is even weirder. Homophobia amongst the sports community is still so rampant I'm not even sure why you would bring it up. Overall, a post that's equally weird as it is irrelevant. If we want to go super meathead, we could just insert AJ for Everett and my point would stand. Nobody has ever held Robert accountable for his bullshit. -

He was a mean son of a b**** as a player and doesn't believe in dinosaurs, but he played the game "the right way." I wouldn't mind him around prospects. He commanded respect. Robert and Moncada have spent their careers training like idiots and caring more about their social media profiles than baseball, but at least Moncada pretended like he gave a s%*#. Robert acts like he has zero respect for the team and the fans. I'm a White Sox player apologist and I can not stand Robert and his bs. The rebuild didn't work and most of your buddies have played their way off the team, but you're a 5 year vet and a millionaire. Stop moping and show some professionalism. Be a God damn adult. -

I would have paid good money to see Robert pull that s%*# in Cleveland with somebody like Carl Everett on the team. I don't want Robert anywhere near whatever prospects we have on the team. -

He's literally not a 4 WAR player because he doesn't play enough to earn that distinction. MLB seasons aren't averaged out per 162. They actually play 162 and kind of need players that actually play. -

And I'm sure GM's are very transparent about these type of things. People pretend these deals are somehow secret and GM's aren't situationally aware. MLB GM is a job with a very small ecosystem. They would prefer their trades are as mutually beneficial as possible. Nobody wants to burn bridges to "win" a trade. -

Robert has been a 4 WAR player 1 time in 5 seasons. This season in 159 PA's he has 32 hits and 53 k's. At this point in his career, he's not a superstar, has never performed like a superstar, and won't get the return his perceived talent dictates. -

I think another thing people aren't considering is that Robert clearly doesn't want to be here, and it shows in his effort and decision making. Get all the stench of the failed rebuild off of this team and move on. I'm sure any trade we make will be looked upon poorly in retrospect, but the fit just isn't there. -

I think Sox fans probably overvalue Robert and will be disappointed in any realistic return. At some point the production has to match the tools. He's 27, in his 5th year and has never had 600 PA's in a season. Even in his best season, his k:BB was atrocious. Obviously all the tools are there. At this point in Mike Cameron's career, he was a consistent 5 WAR player that actually played in games. Robert's production isn't a better version of Mike Cameron.
