  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) If trading Montas gets you a starting catcher, then sign me up! dunno about this list: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=&players=0
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) Flowers' approach is, guess the pitch. And he is horrible at it especially as a damn catcher he has a long slow swing someone should try and get into his head to cut down a little maybe. It's not like he hits many HR for all his huge hacks. Probably won't get through to him until he's no longer a starting MLB catcher. He stinks if it wasn't for one of the luckiest stretches of BABIB luck ever for a guy that slow he probably would be out of MLB.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) Need another bat in the 7-8-9 range. This current bottom of the order is awful offensively. I don't know what they can do about catcher. There's nothing out there that anyone will give up. Maybe if they commit to trading Montas or Anderson they could get something in the 2 WAR range but that's about it I'd think.
  4. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 18, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) Kluber to Flowers is completely unfair. Might as well be holding a lollipop stick. lmao, first time I've read that image for a baseball player, love it.
  5. How is your approach to swing a first pitch breaking ball? Go up there trying to get ahead. Take a pitch. It's Kluber, you're not going to hit his breaking stuff.
  6. Tribe broadcast crew laughing their ass off at Flowers.
  7. I wouldn't be shocked if Alexei is done as a solid starter. He's been awful. He's also old.
  8. Sale is really driving with his legs tonight and finishing. Easy to see even to my amateur eye.
  9. WOW. Chris Sale just took a giant s*** on the mound and it was aimed at Jason Kipnis.
  10. La Roche has been fine he's been getting on base and getting some key base hits. The power should come as it warms up. He's a notorious slow starter so to have a 370 OBP in mid may is a positive sign imo.
  11. Tough to get the barrel on Kluber's stuff. Jose's hand eye coordination on that hit was beyond impressive.
  12. I like Laroche trying to jump on him early in the count but come on you gotta do more with those fastballs over the plate if that's your approach.
  13. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 18, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) Good luck on the finals, but I try to avoid the Sox, personally, if I need to de-stress. I find the games to be ulcer inducing. Usually watch with a large jug of Pepto at my side. The "El Duque Game" took 5 years off my life but the regular season games not so much anymore.
  14. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 18, 2015 -> 06:23 PM) Or he could just be on the field watching batting practice, looks like its a nice day and well. baseball! Could be. Seems like nice weather finally in the midwest? Hopefully 25k+ at the park tonight for a Sox winner!
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) He looks so much better going towards the line. There were actually a few catches over the weekend where he got a good enough jump to use his speed to close on the ball. It's ironic I read a scouting report on Avi from 2011 and the report was "strong armed natural athlete in RF that takes great routes but probably won't ever hit enough to be anything more than a solid regular". Not exactly the most accurate scouting report. If anything, it's now "defense won't ever be average so even if he hits his upside is solid regular". I still have hope he can turn into a 4 WAR all around stud. We'll see.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 18, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) My envy is all yours. Yea I'm sitting at work wish I was at the park.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 18, 2015 -> 05:04 PM) Here watching bp. Melky, Laroche and Eaton swinging now. Laroche hits it out at will. Eaton has more power than melky if this is anything to go by, lol. Eaton owns the farthest hr of the day so far. KW and Hahn watching everything on the field. Was surprised by that. More and more evidence that KW is an something bigger than a "VP" role.
  18. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 18, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) I think Ventura did nothing to inspire the team during the rut (it may not have been his fault either), and I think he's doing nothing to pull the strings during their hot streak either. I just can't figure out why he's the manager of this team. At this point you can throw out all that stuff and just focus on the tactical mistakes. Calling for a reliever before the PH was announced (I don't care if Hernandez was unclear, you sure as s*** make sure it was announced before ou signal, why the hell RV was sitting in the dugout and had Cooper go out is beyond me but it seems clear RV was in the dark) and not challenging in Detroit are clear tactical mistakes that should never, ever happen.
  19. It's nice to be excited about the season again. With the way Avi is starting to hit he could be a huge boost. This offense is going to have black holes (catcher, 2B maybe, SS at times) so if a few guys can stay hot together and carry the team for stretches that will be great. Basically the scrubs are going to scrub, the stars need to star.
